Thick as Thieves is a solid stealth steal-em-up that will probably be elevated by finding a few sticky-fingered friends to play with.

Thick as Thieves annoyed me more than I wanted it to, because the good parts are easy to see. The atmosphere is strong, some escapes really do get tense, and the idea of learning a location piece by piece fits the thief fantasy well. But the game keeps getting in its own way. Too many objectives are vague, too many systems are left half-explained, and solo runs start to feel like you are wasting time rather than pulling off a clever heist. Co-op might help with that, but it was not available in the review build, so I can only judge what I played. And as a solo stealth game, Thick as Thieves has promise, but not enough direction or variety to make that promise pay off.

Playing Thick As Thieves felt more like interacting with an expanded demo or an early access title than a full release. One thing that deserves praise is that the developers communicate the available content in the store page quite clearly. Right now, however, it’s a game that offers very little.

Thick As Thieves is not a completely bad game, and there is genuinely the foundation for something better here, but as it stands, it is an underwhelming stealth experience. The core ideas have some promise, yet they are wrapped in a bare-bones package that does not offer much of an interesting challenge unless you push through repetitive contracts just to unlock the difficulties where the game actually starts to come alive.

Thick as Thieves is a game that, in many moments, feels more like an alpha version than a truly finished product. The title offers little content and unfortunately fails even in basic aspects of its main mechanics.

A tight, yet creative stealth game builds a fun whole on top of the genre's conventions.

Thick as Thieves delivers exactly what stealth fans have been missing, a beautifully designed, highly complex world where exploration, patience, and map knowledge matter just as much as pure gameplay skill. For just five euros, it offers far more depth, tension, and fun than you’d ever expect at that price point.

Thick As Thieves is fun for a fiver, but it does feel like a small chunk of something far bigger and more interesting that we may never get to see.
