I wish Thick as Thieves had more to do overall, but it’s hard to find much fault with the stealthy co-op heists that are here.

Thick as Thieves is armed with a lot of tools for success, but somehow doesn’t seem to capitalize on them.

Thick as Thieves is a reasonably-priced $5 game with a solid foundation, but needs more playable characters, maps, depth, and encouragement for creativity.

While Thick as Thieves is a short game lacking in many basic features like rebindable controls, it's an easy game to recommend thanks to its compelling gameplay loop, emphasis on replayability, and a co-op mode.

Thick as Thieves lays the foundation for an excellent stealth-based Immersive Sim, but locks so much of what could've been built on it behind draconian online multiplayer design.

Thick as Thieves delivers a fun stealth experience that rewards creativity and tests your thieving skills through environmental interaction and multiple approaches. Sneaking and core gameplay mechanics work well, though the current progression systems still feel somewhat limited and could benefit from further expansion over time.

As stated before, Thick as Thieves is a good game if you are OK with a more simplified stealth experience. It is a title that's easy to get into for stealth novices but provides some challenge for genre veterans if you do some real grinding to unlock higher difficulty levels. It would be nice to see a timetable for when new scenarios and levels would arrive, but what's available is good enough for those who want a quick stealth experience before moving on to bigger titles and returning once a big update drops.

Thick as Thieves isn’t trying to change the world, but it doesn’t really need to when it costs less than a fast food meal. If you have a friend to play with, sneaking through the shadows and accidentally messing up heists together is an absolute blast. Yes, it’s a bummer that there are only two maps right now, playing all by yourself feels pretty empty, and the missing PC settings are a headache. But honestly, for just $4.99, it’s a total Worth that and it leaves me genuinely excited to see what the developers cook up next.

Thick As Thieves, as it stands, is less of a game and more of a highly polished paid demo. Everything is decent, but nothing is spectacular. The core stealth loop is solid, but balancing around randomised co-op and a lack of combat removes some of the deeper gameplay and narrative systems that really make stealth shine. The art style is charming, but not especially memorable. The audio design is decent, but can be mostly ignored thanks to the more convenient X-ray system. And the game’s total content is too sparse to really be considered a full game, but large enough to not warrant a “demo” title. I enjoyed my short time with it, and I believe it could become solid down the line. However, as it stands, Thick As Thieves is more of a promise of a game. For now, I’ll be giving it the Thumb Culture Silver Award and my continued attention.

It would be unfair to say it doesn’t have its moments as a stealth-action game, but at this early stage it feels more like an enhanced demo than a full-fledged release. Be that as it may, the ultra-low price of just 5 euros at least manages to offer the feeling of an "investment" and the prospect of the game's further expansion in the future.

Thick As Thieves feels like a stealth game made by people who really know why old-school stealth games were so fun. It gets rid of systems that aren't needed and works on infiltration, tension, and experimentation alone. It stands out right away in a genre that has become surprisingly rare because of that method.

Thick As Thieves is a title that certainly shines more in cooperative, but it still remains a rather limited experience and not extremely satisfying in the long term.

Thick as Thieves is a video game that’s hard to recommend, but also hard to simply dismiss. It has few maps, inconsistent AI, fairly familiar mechanics, and a constant sense of being a cut-down or repurposed product. However, it also has something important: it can be fun. Once you accept its limitations, it offers tense and satisfying moments.

Is a promising, unfinished, remarkably fun $5 game that filled an obvious gap in the co-op stealth market. The pedigree behind it is real, the core design is right, and the developer’s post-launch responsiveness suggests this has a genuine future if the sales numbers support continued development. It should have been Early Access. It wasn’t. Buy it for what it is — an excellent afternoon of co-op heisting and a proof of concept for something that could be great — not for the hypothetical product it might eventually become. Thick As Thieves is a solid, low-stakes stealth romp that knows its limits and mostly sticks to them. It won’t revolutionise the genre, but it delivers satisfying sneaking, fun gadgets, and that glorious dopamine hit of a pocket full of stolen goods. The amount of content at launch may be an issue for some, and I do hope we get updates at a decent clip, but for a game that tasks you with stealing, it's ironic that the price tag of a fiver feels like you are stealing from the developers. If you’ve got a friend to team up with, it becomes even more enjoyable, turning potential frustration into shared laughter when your carefully planned heist devolves into chaos.

Although the game risks becoming repetitive quickly, it easily justifies its price.

Warren Spector’s Thick as Thieves delivers a bite-sized, budget-friendly homage to classic immersive sims that shines brightest in co-op. However, a lean content offering, sterile solo play, and an underwhelming text-heavy narrative keep this otherwise mechanically sound, Edwardian-era heist from pulling off the ultimate crime.

"Thick as Thieves" isn't a complete disaster, but the gap between what this game promises and what it actually delivers is remarkably large.

With updates, Thick as Thieves has the potential to deliver a more exciting heist simulator, but it won’t do that with just two characters and two maps to choose from. For now, all it provides is mindless repetition and half-baked stealth.

Thick as Thieves is a small but stylish stealth experience that punches above its weight thanks to excellent level design, immersive sim sensibilities, and a fantastic atmosphere. It’s polished, clever, and extremely fun – especially with a friend in co-op.
