Onimusha: Way of the Sword Reviews
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a reboot done right. Rather than chase trends, Capcom has updated the gameplay while staying true to its roots. With stellar combat and rewarding exploration, this is one of the best action-adventure games released for the PlayStation 5.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword's combat is as sharp as a katana, but unfortunately, that blade is uneven and dull elsewhere.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a remarkably polished parry-focused action game (perhaps the best-feeling of its ilk) with some truly exceptional production values and animations that elevate it well above the average action game.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a pristine game that is very often trapped in its attempts to solve the problems that were never really there. Cut out all the fat, streamline the experience, and with the sequel you can get yourself a really outstanding action title. To live is to suffer, and as it stands, you really do have to suffer with some of the parts of Way of the Sword.

It's finally back.
After a two-decade hiatus, Onimusha: Way of the Sword delivers a great modernization of the classic series' formulas without losing its identity to the Soulslike trend. While the semi-open Kyoto and narrative aren't memorable, its sharp combat system, excellent enemy design and difficulty balance make the game a triumphant comeback for returning fans and newcomers alike.
Capcom's Onimusha reboot successfully combines old-school linearity with contemporary melee mechanics. The result is a throwback action-adventure bolstered by ultra-satisfying and modernised combat, as well as some of the most surprisingly unsettling comedy and horror moments in recent memory.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is one of those games that reminds us how satisfying a thoughtfully crafted combat system can be. Every exchange of blows, every dodge, and every successful Issen gives the feeling of truly being in control of the fight, while the bosses transform this solidity into spectacular, tense, and challenging duels.

The very identity of Onimusha is back in full force, so it's time to wipe the grit from your blade and assume the role of a legendary sword savant, comforted in the knowledge that you're in store for a spellbinding and endlessly rewarding samurai action adventure opus.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is an often outstanding action game that bears all the hallmarks of a modern Capcom masterpiece. Its combat is clearly the main draw and it's a superb system once it gets rolling. The boss fights in particular are some of the best you'll find on PS5. But even beyond the sword-swinging skirmishes, Way of the Sword impresses with great characters and eye-popping cutscenes. This is a fantastic revival of a franchise that's been sleeping for far too long.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is such a refreshing action game, with focus on its combat systems and cinematic narrative. In those respects, it sets a high standard for all other video games.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is an excellent action game that arrives during Capcom's golden age—a period marked by no real missteps, if we set *Exoprimal* aside.

Capcom dusts off one of its longtime franchises in “Onimusha: Way of the Sword,” featuring fantastic characters and bosses and a fun combat system that balances risks and rewards. It isn’t perfect as the pacing can get uneven once exploration is thrown in. Sometimes, though, you just need a stepping stone to get back on the right track after losing your way. In that sense, I feel quite confident that Onimusha is back on solid ground.
Overall, Onimusha: Way of the Sword is an absolute triumph. The fast-paced action, engaging characters and story, and sublime visuals combine to create one of my favorite games of the year so far. Yes, it's that good. I highly recommend this game to anyone looking for a slice of adventure. And if you don't believe me, there's a free demo ready to sway you.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a stunning return for one of Capcom's most overlooked series, with a truly spectacular combat system and boss battles that constantly evoke the dynamic feeling of an action film.

Onimusha: Way of the Sword successfully revives the series with rewarding swordplay, cinematic combat, and a compelling new protagonist. Uneven pacing, audio problems, awkward movement, and limited accessibility options keep this promising new beginning from reaching its full potential.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword is a great modern entry into the long-running and long-dormant Capcom series. The combat and story are great, but open-world bloat makes this Capcom's most divisive release in years.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword lives up to its name by providing intense, complex sword-based combat against a barrage of powerful bosses. But its exploration and side quests can frequently distract from the best parts of the game.
