Control Resonant transforms Remedy's cult classic into a bigger, bolder action RPG that rarely misses, even if its performances fall short at times.
Remedy bet everything on risky changes with CONTROL Resonant: a new genre, a new protagonist, and even a new environment. Most of them work, making this sequel well worth purchasing for fans of the studio and the IP, but it's also clear that Remedy is not quite an expert at making open world action RPGs, as most shortcomings fall squarely in that category. Unfortunately, despite the ambition, this is unlikely to be the big breakthrough they were hoping for.
Remedy deliver another hit, boasting enigmatic and visceral combat, an incredibly stylish, mind-bending, kaleidoscopic cityscape, and a surrealist yet utterly captivating narrative. Control Resonant ranks amongst the best of 2026, and absolutely has to be experienced.

Control Resonant is an impeccably confident and tantalising sequel that has all the hallmarks of a Remedy classic. It's endlessly stylish and playful; it looks gorgeous, especially on the PS5 Pro, and it manages to address many of the woes that I had with the original Control.Repetitive combat is the big hitch, however, holding the game back from true greatness. Ultimately, though, it's not enough to overrule all that Remedy is doing right with this sequel.
Resonant's diversity and diversity, however, come together in a blend that only Remedy can blend so coherently. A charismatic melting pot of the most disparate influences, the second Control entertains for dozens of hours and can appeal to fans of the weird with a unique and bizarre personality that is worth surrendering to.

Though altering many of the original's fundamentals, Control Resonant is every bit an extension of Remedy's incredible universe. Frenzied melee combat and mind-bending exploration house yet another fascinating story across numerous planes of reality.
Control Resonant continues the Remedy tradition of offering an ambitious experience filled with incredible ideas. The game controls beautifully, the combat is fun and flexible, the side stories are strong and the presenation is, of course, excellent. But repetitive encounters, beautiful but underwhelming boss battles and an uneven open-world structure all make Resonant feel uneven. Regardless of its flaws, Control Resonant is both bold and enjoyable, though it doesn't reach the usual heady heights established by the illustrious Remedy canon.
While I hesitate to call Control Resonant a stunning new direction for Remedy, it offers an exceptionally crafted world, addictive combat (even if it takes time to open up), and phenomenal art direction.
CONTROL Resonant is a fantastic follow-up that expands on almost everything that made the original great. Dylan becomes a compelling protagonist, melee combat offers impressive depth, traversal is a joy, and Remedy’s signature weirdness is as strong as ever. Some uneven difficulty, limited enemy variety, and occasional visual clutter hold it back slightly, but this is still one of Remedy’s strongest games.
I'm still blown away by the environment design and art direction in CONTROL Resonant. The work here is nothing short of masterful. Honestly, we probably won't see another game that delivers a comparable experience for years to come. Remedy's signature strengths of artistry, visuals, and storytelling are practically dialed up to eleven in this entry. As for the combat and player guidance, there are still a few minor hiccups, but they certainly haven't taken a step back. If anything, they are actually a solid improvement over the first game.

Remedy has managed to create fun mechanics in a genre they are trying for the first time. When you add in the story, which continues from the first game, the result is a really great experience. I just wish the combat encounters in the second half of the game had been less repetitive...
