The first contact by a new player highlights the difficulties of the game, but there' room for learning and to enjoy the sport if the player makes and effort and the heavy online dependency [of the modes] isn't an issue.

Last year I rated Madden NFL 26 highly and now with Madden NFL 27 I can only say it’s even better and should not be skipped… highly recommended!
Madden 27 gives us players a lot of what we love about the series. If you have been playing Madden for as long as I have, the core experience is still there. We see improvements over last year’s version in some areas. We also see some of the same issues we have seen for years. EA Sports Madden 27 tries to give players a top-of-the-line experience but falls short. From bad animations, bugs, adding micro-transactions to single players modes, these are things that players don’t want or at least would like to be resolved. EA Sports Madden 27 is a 7. Still a solid entry in the franchise, despite some of the shortcomings.

Madden NFL 27 brings back Franchise, Superstar, Ultimate Team, and the on-field football at the centre of the series. Better defensive behaviour, quicker pre-snap adjustments, and deeper Franchise management make this year’s game more dependable, even with lingering blocking, collision, AI, and commentary issues. Franchise fans and anyone returning after skipping a recent Madden will notice the biggest difference.
Madden NFL 27 is like a safe, predictable pick in the draft. It shows that EA Sports has already mastered the authentic recreation of the NFL, with high-quality graphics, backed up by good single-player modes such as Superstar. Despite minimal advances in gameplay, the game logic and animations have improved immensely.

EA Sports Madden NFL 27 is a great re-entry point for anyone looking to get back on the gridiron. The changes are substantial, even if there are still bugs to work out.
Madden NFL 27 delivers a consistent evolution by improving different parts of the experience. The gameplay places greater emphasis on decision making, particularly in defensive and short yardage situations, while Franchise and Superstar offer strong options for players who enjoy following a career across multiple seasons. The presentation also helps considerably, with more dynamic weather, more natural player movements, and a soundtrack that blends different styles. The result is a Madden that maintains the series' identity while adding enough new elements to make the season feel fresh. There are still areas that could have received more attention. Franchise could require fewer menu confirmations and steps before games, while Ultimate Team keeps microtransactions highly visible and consistently encourages players to engage with its systems from the very beginning. Timing Based Catching could also offer a more flexible default configuration. The achievement list is another area that could have received more attention. With only 24 achievements and several ideas that closely resemble objectives found in previous editions, it feels like there was room for more creativity to take advantage of the variety of modes and mechanics available. These issues do not compromise the overall experience, but they show that Madden NFL 27 could still have been more ambitious in certain areas. The edition does not reinvent the franchise, but it evolves it consistently and delivers a complete season. For longtime Madden players, it is a solid and enjoyable experience that can justify another season in the NFL.
Therefore, those who were already happy with the predecessor have few compelling reasons to upgrade immediately. Nevertheless, football fans will still get a comprehensive, superbly presented, and still very strong NFL simulation with "Madden NFL 27"—just not a revolution.

I'm loving Madden NFL 27. From its snappy interface to its more realistic Franchise and its retooled play mechanics, this really feels like a monumental season. Of course, the season hasn't started yet, so I'll be wary if EA does what they did last year and makes a good game rough with each update.
