Moonlight Peaks is a perfect blend of the calm and serene nature of cozy games and a gothic aesthetic that is sure to capture the attention of fans of the genre, especially thanks to the wealth of content available right from launch, which promises hours of gameplay and a variety of interesting mechanics. However, the game has its shortcomings in its plot development; although the story is a central element of the game, it rarely offers interesting dialogue or narrative moments.

Moonlight Peaks is a highly enjoyable life sim whose charming gothic setting, wealth of content, and engaging gameplay loop make for a cute (yet monstrous) take on the genre. If you are looking for a fresh cozy obsession with a bit of a macabre twist, believe me, this spooky getaway is absolutely worth your time.
Moonlight Peaks takes the familiar cozy farming sim formula and elevates it with a charming supernatural setting, deep progression systems, and an impressive amount of content available from launch.
Even with these minor issues, I found myself eager to return to Moonlight Peaks each and every day. After putting a slightly concerning number of hours into the game for this review, I still feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface of all the mysteries the town of Moonlight Peaks has to offer.

Moonlight Peaks is a triumphant, incredibly imaginative game that boldly redefines what a life simulator can be. Over its wonderfully addictive and massive runtime, the game delivers an unforgettable mix of heartfelt storytelling, deep agricultural mechanics, and unmatched decorative freedom.
This is as fun a twist on cozy sims as you can find, and well worth sinking your fangs into.
Moonlight Peaks kicks off with a strong theme: a young woman breaking ties with her father—a powerful vampire—to forge her own identity and live life on her own terms in a new setting, where she meets interesting characters and concepts while growing as a person. It is a classic premise, yet beautiful and well-executed, offering more conflict than other titles in the genre. Unfortunately, the elements that excited me most—the magic systems and the like—get diluted by farming mechanics that have become all too familiar by now. While there is nothing wrong with being another "love letter" to the genre, it is a bit frustrating to see Moonlight Peaks’ massive potential get bogged down by the standard checklist of expectations for a "cozy game."

Moonlight Peaks is a great farming simulator that takes what many love about the genre and only makes it better with its charming world, fantastic characters, and unique spell system. While it does slightly stumble in certain areas with a desire for more quality-of-life features, this is a great game worth checking out.
Overall, Moonlight Peaks takes a classic, well-established farming sim structure and competently adapts the formula into a magical world inhabited by monsters. While interface issues, a weak soundtrack, and a lack of localization hold it back a bit, they don't take away from a game that has the potential to stand out in a heavily saturated market. Ultimately, it is a highly entertaining casual option full of personality for anyone looking for a breath of fresh air within the genre.

Growing bizarre crops, raising spooky animals, and unlocking magical abilities through your wand keep the gameplay loop engaging, while the cute art style and surprisingly mature themes give the world extra personality. Slow dialogue, frequent cutscenes, and excessive loading screens hurt the pacing, but I still found myself constantly saying "just one more task" and playing for another hour—a great sign for any farming game.

Moonlight Peaks is a great farming and crafting simulation game, with romance included and so much divers things to do that it won’t feel like a chore soon. I’ve found a few niggles, but it didn’t detract from the fun I had playing, and I hope that over time the few small niggles that I had can be remedied by the team at Little Chicken. The idea behind this cozy magical farming sim with a supernatural twist is great and well executed. It gives us a simulation game that doesn’t follow the standard way of working, making it feel novel and refreshing because of it.
Moonlight Peaks is an excellent entry into the genre, with a lovely cast of characters, a compelling story and some great farming and mechanics that’ll satisfy even the most fussy of cosy gamers.
Overall I'd say my time with this game was enjoyable enough. It has the standard gameplay I expect from a farming sim and a consistent and well put together aesthetic. Unfortunately, Moonlight Peaks didn't quite do it for me. I personally felt it focused a bit too much on its story and as a result I wasn't able to focus as heavily on optimizing my farm as I would like, and while I appreciate the overall polish and the consistency of its vibe and aesthetic, it just didn't quite land the way I'd hoped. I also didn't feel like the farming gameplay really set itself apart enough from others in the genre, even with the spells and potions. If the look and feel of it appeal to you, or if you're a big enough fan of farming games, it may be worth a shot for you, but it sadly just wasn't for me.
Moonlight Peaks is one of the few Stardew Valley-likes which truly feels like its own thing, daring to lean into new ideas, Themes and mechanics. While it doesn't re-invent the wheel entirely, the ability to shape shift, brew potions, cast spells and generally lean into the life of a supernatural monster is very welcome. This is a game well worth checking out for all cozy game obsessives.
Even with its issues, Moonlight Peaks still offers a really solid farming game experience, and once it gets going, it nails that “just one more night” stickiness that the genre is famous for. The only reason the game isn’t scored higher here in my review is because of its loading times, as they are that bad. If and when those are improved, I’ll have no problem bumping the score up to a 4/5. Hopefully that fix comes sooner, rather than later. In the meantime, be prepared to do a lot of waiting around if you want to give this one a shot on Switch 2.
The quests are fun, the characters are occasionally quite amusing, and the story unfolds smoothly without becoming particularly emotional, profound, or significant. It's great for unwinding after long days.
