NBA 2K27 has a legitimate chance to be remembered as one of the best NBA 2K games in years. At the very least, it is an encouraging step toward the kind of realistic basketball experience the series has occasionally moved away from.
NBA 2K27 comes recommended because it once again demonstrates that Visual Concepts has a well-established formula for its basketball simulator. This time around, the game has received a significant number of new features spread across virtually all of its game modes. The gameplay has gained depth with more physical defense, new offensive tools, and greater customization.

NBA 2K27 has some good improvements to gameplay that make shots more challenging to make, but it does feel similar to last year when looking at the complete package.

Ultimately, NBA 2K27 doesn’t completely reinvent the series, but I honestly don’t think it needed to. Visual Concepts has instead concentrated on improving the actual basketball itself, and that was exactly what I wanted from this year’s game.
NBA 2K27 plays better basketball than before, but the systems surrounding it still keep the series from making a clean break forward.
NBA 2K27 is a game that gets better the more you play it: Visual Concepts didn't aim for a revolution, but for refinement, and the gameplay now feels more mature, more coherent, and closer to real basketball, while MyCAREER Eras is one of the most interesting ideas seen in the series in years. Its microtransaction systems remain intrusive, but when it simply goes back to being a basketball game, it is still outstanding.
