A real love letter to these 8-bit, 16-bit and 32-bit classic Toy Story games which gave so many of us such fond memories of our gaming childhoods, though I would have liked to have seen a more comprehensive amount of documentary material on par with Digital Eclipse's previous game preservation offerings in Toy Story Retro Roundup, just having these beloved titles pulled out of the depths of history and playable in 2026 is reason enough to part with your cash. They don't make them like this anymore.

Toy Story: Retro Roundup! is a collection of largely mediocre games, yet one that's been put together with obvious care—it comes with a generous selection of individual versions and offers every feature you'd expect from an emulation collection. It's a bit of a shame that the Dreamcast versions, where available, aren't included—presumably building an additional Dreamcast emulator wouldn't have been worth the effort for the development team, since the PlayStation versions are by far the better-known ones anyway. For Toy Story fans, the collection is certainly worth considering, though you shouldn't set your expectations for the individual games too high.

Retro Roundup & Toy Story 3: Complete Edition is certainly not a flawless package, but it sets a precedent for how collections dedicated to video games of the past should be treated.

While there are some games in the pack that don't have much to offer, the good stuff is really good. A must-own for any fans of Disney-Pixar 3D platformers.

A generous nostalgia trip with some lasting highlights, held back by weaker games, dated visuals and poor audio quality.

Toy Story: Retro Roundup! offers a decent selection of classic Toy Story games across multiple platforms, enhanced with useful modern features and interesting documentary content. However, the incomplete lineup, limited archival material and awkward menu structure are disappointing for a collection from Digital Eclipse, especially given the studio's previous standards.

In its careful historical preservation and attention to detail, Toy Story: Retro Roundup! is flawless. However, this unwavering fidelity to the past carries the weight of decades: without adjustments to soften the impact of the years and relying only on a few external tricks to overcome its limitations, both outdated mechanics and visuals may frustrate those seeking even a minimal contemporary experience. This will certainly test the player's patience.

Toy Story Retro Roundup! is a fascinating trip back to the era of classic movie tie-in games. Featuring six titles, the collection offers a nostalgic look at gaming history, complete with authentic retro presentation, save states, and a handy rewind feature. Toy Story 2 and A Bug's Life remain surprisingly enjoyable, but several older games suffer from frustrating controls and outdated design. While none of these titles are true classics, the collection is a welcome effort in game preservation, aimed primarily at nostalgic fans and retro gaming enthusiasts.

Toy Story: Retro Roundup! is more about nostalgia and preservation than gaming. Toy Story 2 and the racing game are still good fun, and the extras are worth a look, but too many of the games haven’t aged particularly well. It’s a decent collection for fans interested in gaming history, but as a collection of games to actually play, it’s a mixed bag.

Toy Story: Retro Roundup is a thoughtful collection that preserves an important piece of gaming history. Digital Eclipse combines classic games with modern accessibility features, visual options and impressive behind-the-scenes material. However, these games aren’t flawless classics. Instead, this collection celebrates over 30 years of Toy Story gaming. Furthermore, its release seems perfectly timed to coincide with the fifth film’s home release. So whether you’re revisiting these titles or discovering them for the first time, there’s plenty to appreciate. For its historical value, thoughtful features and celebration of the franchise, Toy Story: Retro Roundup earns the Thumb Culture Gold Award.

Toy Story Retro Roundup! is a collection whose value goes beyond the individual quality of its games. While some titles have aged better than others, and issues with camera controls, design limitations, and the lack of Portuguese localization may hinder the experience, modern quality-of-life features and a detailed documentary make this package worthwhile. For video game history enthusiasts, especially those interested in 1990s adaptations of animated films, there is plenty to discover. Digital Eclipse may not turn every game into a timeless classic, but it offers something equally valuable: a chance to understand how these titles were made, the challenges their developers faced, and why preserving these small pieces of gaming history matters.

While most of those handheld ports from Retro Roundup! feel disappointing by today’s standards, there are a handful of titles here, including the more modern and polished Toy Story 3: Complete Edition, that are still worth checking out.

If you're looking for a complete overhaul of the classic Toy Story games, you’ll be disappointed. Besides Toy Story 3 getting a bit of a touch-up, these are the games players will remember. Digital Eclipse's extra additions add value to the retro collection.

Toy Story Retro Roundup is not about playing flawless games, but instead a nostalgic treat that truly celebrates the creation (and preservation) of classic Disney releases. The titles themselves show their age, suffering from stiff controls and awkward cameras, but the modern tweaks allow you to bypass the annoying bits and just soak up the good stuff… don’t be ashamed to use the cheats! Overall, Toy Story Retro Roundup is just a lovingly crafted package that preserves the history of a beloved franchise, and for that alone, it is worth celebrating.

The collection seems more compelling as an interactive archive than as a definitive way to revisit all these games. Its value lies in preserving experiences and offering tools so that different audiences can find their own ways to enjoy them.

Toy Story: Retro Roundup! brings together a diverse collection of games with a very polished, historically-minded presentation, while Toy Story 3: Complete Edition offers a full-fledged adventure, with its "Toy Box" mode remaining its greatest highlight. While not every title has aged equally well and the remastering is modest, the collection as a whole holds special value both for those feeling nostalgic and for anyone looking to discover this era of video games based on Pixar films.

While I enjoyed my time with Toy Story: Retro Roundup, I don’t expect this will be for everyone. I see this more as a museum display rather than a game collection and I feel Digital Eclipse feels the same way since that was clearly their intention. If you want to learn a thing or two about the early days of Traveller’s Tales before they became the go-to dev team for Lego games, then I’d suggest picking this up but if you’re more interested in the games on offer, I think you should just pick up an old PS1 copy of Toy Story 2 if you can find one and leave it at that.
