Dead By Daylight is the latest asymmetric horror survival game out on the market. This one having been developed by Behaviour Interactive and published by Starbreeze Studios. With such a simplistic four versus one method the game takes on the hunter versus hunted gameplay head on.

This console version of the famous PC game has some issues that make this installment a boring game without too much content for a single player.

I did have fun playing Dead by Daylight as it does have some great moments, but there are so many issues making it hard to reach those.

If you love co-op or horror or both, I highly recommend checking out Dead by Daylight. It offers a refreshing take on so many different game mechanics. This title really does bring something unique to the table. Aside from a couple of minor issues the console release really live up to the legacy that Dead by Daylight has already fostered since its initial release. If you’re in the market for a great co-op gaming experience in a unique setting this game will deliver.

This just feels like an all around sloppy port that was quickly pushed out to try to score some cash off of Friday the 13th's bungled release. The console version doesn't even include all the download content released for PC, including the Halloween DLC with Michael Myers. The mouse-like controls in the menus, coupled with the fact that most all the actions are mapped to the triggers and shoulder buttons, makes it feel like whoever ported this doesn't play consoles to begin with (thankfully you can remap the controls). The bugs and ugly graphics might be excusable if the game were fun to play, but to me, it just isn't due to a lack of balance and the need to work with your team in an era where no one talks to strangers in online games anymore.

When Dead By Daylight was first launched, it was a flawed but fun game that needed a bit more work to tighten things up. Since its release, Behaviour Interactive has spent the last few months doing just that; it’s in a really good place right now. It has a healthy, active community where the player base can also go and interact with the developers on a weekly basis. All in all, Dead By Daylight is an amazing survival horror experience and my favourite indie game so far this year; you’ll sure as hell see this one on my list of top 5 games of 2016.

The game has its flaws and problems and it could have done with much more variety to it. But the core is amazing. The idea is great. This is really something new and fresh in the horror genre.

Dead By Daylight is a fantastic concept that, in practice, needed much more work put into it. I love its 80s horror aesthetic and the occasional match can be thoroughly enjoyable. There are going to have to be a lot more changes for the thing to have any sticking power, however. Should Behavior continue to work on it, I could see Dead By Daylight turning into something I adore. Right now, it’s just not there.

It lacks polish, but Dead by Daylight is a genuinely tense ode to 80s slasher movies.

It might be short-lived and plagued by lobby issues, but Dead by Daylight is whip-smart, original, exciting and genuinely frightening. It puts you right at the centre of your own slasher movie, then asks you if you've got the guts and cunning to slay or survive. Only time will tell whether it can evolve into a long-term hit but, right now, it's a terrifying new entry on the multiplayer scene.
