Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is the sequel of the first installment that does not bring anything new to the Dragon Ball saga. Disappointing and not living up to the expectations, DBX2 is not what the fans of the saga wanted.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, despite its issues, is still an improvement over the original Xenoverse, although minimally. It has its letdowns but long-term it will offer a better experience due to Bandai Namco's promised year of post-release support, including three DLC packs, as well as the present gameplay improvements and slightly more content. If you’re a Dragon Ball fan and enjoyed the first game, Xenoverse 2 will leave you off satisfied.
DragonBall Xenoverse 2 is a game that is made for fans of the series. From the deep cuts in the lore, to the character customization options allowing players to create any DBZ character they would want, Xenoverse 2 offers fans the DBZ experience they have been wanting for years.
Dragon Ball XenoVerse 2, despite its minor issues and some of my own personal issues, is a fun and enjoyable game that any Dragon Ball fan should look to own. The huge amount of content on offer and its super smooth 60 frames per second will definitely serve to please. If you're looking for a Dragon Ball game to get stuck into, then this is definitely the one to pick up. Fully customisable character creation, a huge roster of Dragon Ball characters and a different take on a classic story all awaits you.
The Xenoverse games have become sort of a love letter to all things Dragon Ball, and that’s great, but the combat still comes up short. It gets in the way of a fun, often-goofy Dragon Ball Z experience
With all of the side missions, skills to unlock, items to craft, hilarious side quests such as the milk delivery quests, Parallel Quests with co-op capability, offline and online matches, and not to mention the main missions, there is more than enough for players to sink their teeth into. It will feel padded to some, especially those who played the first game. Dimps undoubtedly forced in the RPG-grinding to lengthen the game and separate it from the Budokai games, which does it make more unique, and at the same time, a bit annoying for a title that is, at its core, a member of the fighting genre. Those who never picked up the first title will easily jump into Xenoverse 2 with amazement and wonder and love every minute of it. Those who already played the first game will appreciate the solid online mechanics, but won’t find much motivation in going through a main storyline that they’ve already done time and time again.
An exemplary slice of fan service once again, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 also succeeds in being a rewarding game that even non-DBZ fans will find enjoyable. Obviously, fans will lap up every last bit, even if the combat does persist in being a bit of a button-mashing exercise. That aside, DBX 2 is a marked improvement over its predecessor.
Here’s the thing: if you like Dragon Ball Z, you are going to like this game. If you liked Dragon Ball Xenoverse, you are going to like Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. The game can’t convert people who don’t like the Dragon Ball universe, but if you like it, this game is for you.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 feels like a textbook example of a safe sequel. Gamers who enjoyed the previous title will definitely get a kick out of this one, thanks to the bigger and more detailed hub city, expanded character customization options and solid online servers. Newcomers to the franchise should probably skip the previous game, since DIMPS‘ latest production is better in every way.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 does a decent job of capturing the spirit of the anime series, even if its component parts don’t quite gel all of the time. There’s a huge amount of content available to players, and you can spend hours battling and levelling up in the attractive world of the Super Saiyans, even if repetition does eventually begin to set in. Fans will be well served by the alternative take on scenes they know and love, though players of the original Xenoverse may well have a strong sense of déjà vu about the whole venture.
Ultimately there is a ton of content in DB Xenoverse 2 with slight improvements all around to the experience. A better hub world, tons of side quests, options for customization, and both single and multiplayer content to last hours. It’s not a huge improvement to the Xenoverse franchise, but it’s got enough to give fans of the first a reason to jump back in and newcomers to check it out.
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 fixes many of the problems that the first title left unattended and once again gives the player the opportunity to fix the Dragon Ball history. The game has a great amount of content which means many hours of gameplay. Fan service and nice storytelling will keep you going until you reach the very end. However, countless localization problems, recycled elements and senseless side-missions hurt the overall experience.

While playing it safe in the beginning and while the loading times can be a bit long, Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 is an improvement upon the original. With more to do and an open area hub that is easily moved around in, getting to the action to save the timeline or just go punch things is a much smoother and welcomed experience. The bonus? You still get to create your own custom Dragon Ball character to do battle!
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 far surpasses its predecessor and does an excellent job in capturing what makes Dragon Ball what it is whilst providing plenty of gameplay options to keep you coming back long after the story. Dimps will have a hard time topping this one with, presumably, Xenoverse 3 but I really like the direction that the Xenoverse series has taken and hope that it continues. If you’re a fan then you won’t want to miss out and even if you aren’t very familiar with the series, Xenoverse 2 makes for a great starting point.
Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2 is the most ambitious and enjoyable Dragon Ball game to date, but it still has a way to go. The combat could be smoother and the loading screens leave a terrible impression. That being said, for hardcore Dragon Ball fans, this is a must-play filled with plenty of elements perfectly aimed at that sector. There's also an absolute ton to do here that will keep anyone busy for a long time to come and, as if that wasn't enough, Bandai Namco has already announced six months' worth of DLC, containing characters and stories from the recent (and superb) Dragon Ball Super. Look forward to getting hands-on with Goku Black and maybe even Super Saiyan Rose…
Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 gives the player an opportunity to explore the world of Dragon Ball and interact with their favorite cast of characters. The game's story deals with the scenarios presented in the classic Dragon Ball Z series while also adding the latest movies to the mix. As a sequel, it manages to stick to the same old formula but tries to freshen up by improving on its predecessor.
Fans of the original Xenoverse game were treated to the best DBZ experience in a long time, and while Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2 is not a perfect game, the development team deserves kudos for understanding what worked well in the first game and building off of it.
Overall, Xenoverse 2 feels more in line with what I wanted the original game to be, with its flexible combat engine, wealth of compelling content and an online component that actually worked properly from day 1. Even with the issues with the frequent crashes and the dumb AI, this is still a wet dream for DBZ fans and comes highly recommended.

Rather than adding a ton of new content, it focuses on fixing the flaws and annoyances of the original game. The result is a title that is at once mechanically superior to the original and less interesting. Fans of the original Xenoverse will find this to be a fun expansion, and newcomers would be better off starting with Xenoverse 2 rather than its predecessor. Some excessive loading times and a weak story drag down the experience, but it's still one of the best Dragon Ball games out there.
