If you can ignore the sheer cost, Super Bomberman R is a great way to have fun; get it and have a blast.

Super Bomberman R is not worth the price of admission, but it is a surprisingly solid entry that plays best to the franchises strengths, rooted deep in multiplayer styles of play. While it does it's best to add value to the package, most of this content comes off as incessant filler. Online works, to a point, but if you're not grabbing Super Bomberman R for some fun multiplayer, it's probably best to skip it entirely.

It's games like this that show the Switch is more than just a Zelda machine.

It's a welcome return for Bomberman with an unwelcome price, but you will have a lot of fun with the game - especially with others. For me it isn't the best game in the series, but if you've never played it before that won't matter. If you are looking for a party style game or just something different, then Super Bomberman R is worth a look.

Additionally, the game lacks innovation and feels pretty much the same as any other Bomberman you may have previously played.

Super Bomberman R is the best multtiplayer option right now for every Nintendo Switch owner. Sadly its main flaw is its input lag, that makes the online battles hard to play in some occasions. Still the 8 player on TV is as fun as in every other game of the franchise. Its single player campaign is fun but too short.

Super Bomberman R when you get down to the core of the game itself, is a great launch title for the Nintendo Switch that will allow fun at home or on the go, solo or with friends.

Super Bomberman R is a good, not great, return for the franchise. It’s charming in its retro gameplay, but also a bit disappointing that the first new game in a decade does little to push the IP forward.

Overall, Bomberman fans are going to enjoy this entry. It is everything a fan could want out of the game, and while it is an incredibly safe attempt, it was still enjoyable. This is definitely a game to keep an eye on when buying a Nintendo Switch.

I’m glad that Bomberman isn’t dead yet, I truly am. I just wish the game that brought it back to Nintendo consoles wasn’t this one. While Super Bomberman R isn’t utterly horrible, it is such a mixed bag that at best it just feels average. That’s not great, especially when you consider it costs $49.99 and only gave me around three hours of gameplay. While it’s true you can replay Story mode levels and the multiplayer isn’t bad, there’s just not a lot to recommend the game. If you’re an old fan of Bomberman like myself, then I recommend you pick Super Bomberman R up on sale. For everyone else, it’s probably best to wait for the next game in the series and hope Konami gets things right the second time around.

For me, it is a losing battle. What started off fun has become shallow, repetitive and sorely lacking in content

The main story’s 50 missions can be blown through in a flash, but they’re fun while they last and serve as a great way to hone your skills for the game’s infectious multiplayer mode. However, with just two modes to offer, $50 may be a bit of a steep asking price for what you’re getting here.

I think Bomberman is cool and cute, but this title is not the launch that the Nintendo Switch deserved. By either offering more new content or pricing the game reasonably, Konami could have jump started the Bomberman franchise, which has been MIA for years. Instead, Super Bomberman R just doesn't give the value or the fun that the price commands.

Bomberman Live on the Xbox 360 was a far better Bomberman game than Super Bomberman R is, and that game is almost 10 years old at this point.

Hudson Soft's much-loved series gets a surprise revival where great local multiplayer is balanced out by weak online and a premium price.

Good 'ol Bomberman is still crazy after all these years, but there's nothing really new, it lacks some options, the story mode is nothing exciting and the game is a bit too pricey.

The in-game currency decision was a head scratcher, as it adds an unwelcome grinding element to much of the gameplay. If you can look past that, then there's a decent campaign and the same addictive multiplayer Bomberman is known for sitting at this launch title's explosive core.

With a reasonable price tag and a focus on the multiplayer, Super Bomberman R could have been great. The current model would have been passable if the game was half the price of its msrp, but the developers were just too set on shoehorning in a disappointing story mode in an attempt to justify the high price point.

While Super Bomberman R brings back the classic Bomberman action, the package could stand to be better. Once you've polished off the short Story Mode, you're left with multiplayer. Local and online multiplayer is solid, but lacks match customization options found in older Bomberman games.

I did have a little fun while playing Super Bomberman R, and it admittedly aroused my sense of nostalgia, but this revival feels too rushed and sloppy to earn a recommendation.
