World to the West Reviews
Even with its flaws, World to the West is a fun adventure game that has plenty of clever moments. The characters are enjoyable all the way through, the environments are a joy to look at, and the puzzles are a blast to solve. Each of the main characters' unique abilities are used to their fullest potential as well, meaning that there is enjoyment to be had with each one. It’s just a shame that the combat is only fun with one of them. Fans of classic Zelda titles will not be disappointed, however, as this world is certainly worth exploring.
I can say though that for an indie game, this still provides a unique and enjoyable experience. Though the graphics is not on par to the likes of Horizon Zero Dawn, it is great in its own unique and quirky way. If you're looking for an adventure that is not Zelda, then this game is for you.
While I'm ultimately coming away from World to the West more disappointed than I expected, I admire the expanse and ambition. It's a gorgeous game with some delightful, puzzling moments. This is still a cool game, just one with some flaws that hold it back from being exemplary.
World to the West is a solid Link to the Past inspired experience that fans of that style of game will enjoy, and it was extremely interesting to see the world of Teslagrad fleshed out more through these four new characters. It is just unfortunate that the totem mechanic, which sounds cool on paper, ends up feeling like unnecessary padding that can make the game more frustrating than fun.
This interesting project has great ideas and borrows some good elements from The Legend of Zelda sage. However, its character controls feature a weird desing, which translates into a bad decision that affects the game's pace.

World to the West deserves to be praised for its charm and personality. The varied characters all bring something to the table in terms of gameplay and some personalities are easy to love. The music compliments your journey very well. The aspect of character switching is more of a problem than it needs to be and a certain scavenge hunt, while integral to the back story, feels like a shoe-in. It could use more polish, but it's a good game worth checking out.
World to the West is an enjoyable overhead adventure featuring a varied cast of characters that are great fun to play as.
If you’re the type that allows yourself to become lost in the sense of adventure, then you really can’t go wrong with World to the West. There is some laborious puzzle design that leads to inconsistent pacing, but such moments never derail the experience enough – leaving you to become lost in the world’s charm, the witty repartee between its characters, and the story that it wants to tell.
World to the West is a charming and gorgeous adventure that feels right at home on the Nintendo Switch. Rain Games have crafted a tale that is every bit as good as Teslagrad, and possibly even better.
The World to the West was a real surprise for me after Teslagrad. The dark, oppressive fairy-tale world gives way to a more light-hearted adventure story that focuses on the joy of exploration and puzzling, rather than tough platforming and unforgiving boss encounters.
World to the West lets you explore a cell-shaded world that feels alive. It is filled with great observational puzzles and features a great atmosphere with a nice ambient soundtrack. The combat could have been better implemented, but if you like a relaxed and laid back experience, this game may just peak your interest.
A World to the West is actually superior to its predecessor. The puzzles are wonderful and offer up some real head-scratching challenges, and the mechanics are engaging and fun. Parallels are evident between this and A Link to the Past and considering the quality of that game, in the comparison, it shows the quality of this one. A real surprise here, it is definitely one of the best Nindies to hit Nintendo Switch yet, and considering some of the titles hitting the console recently, that's really saying something.
In short, I thoroughly enjoyed World to the West. It was a lovable eight hour distraction full of amiable heroes, interesting puzzles and an atmosphere that instills so much excitement and intrigue. If this game is a sign of what Rain Games is capable of in the future, I will be more than happy to see more of this endearing world that they have created.
World to the West is probably one of the finer ways to to experience easy going, family friendly, lightly puzzling and very cute gaming. I certainly loved it, and if I was to offer personal advice in two words I would simply tell you:
I’m actually really glad that I waited to play World to the West on my Nintendo Switch. The easy to play nature and pulp style plot of the game combined with the portability of the console means that I can simply pick it up and play whenever the fancy takes me
World to the West is the better game made by the people at Rain Games so far. It has a distinctive style, a sprawling map helped by a great level design and a successful mix of exploration, puzzles and combat.

The difficulty in these puzzles is inconsistent throughout, which can be a double-edged sword.
World To The West is a 'Sunday stroll' type of game. It's pleasant and enjoyable without being too taxing or stressful for the player.
World to the West puts players in control of four unlikely heroes with unique skillsets and tasks them with exploring a puzzle-filled map. The world and its humourous characters are presented in a delightful art style and the soundtrack is great but the gameplay becomes repetitive in lengthier chunks.
it really is just a pleasure to get lost in the story.
