Wipeout: Omega Collection Reviews
The thing that sets Wipeout apart from racing games of today is that it doesn't take itself seriously during a time where some racing games are beginning to do so more regularly. Wipeout is silly, it always has been, but that's the beauty of this gravity-defying joyride. Every time Sony releases their latest console, I eagerly anticipate the release of a new Wipeout game to accompany it. Although this time it's taken a while for this iconic racer to get an update to next gen, WipEout: Omega Collection has been worth the wait.
Thanks to its stunning visuals, electrifying soundtrack and exhilarating and addictive gameplay, the Wipeout Omega Collection is one of the best racing titles this generation
Shiny and in 4K glory, this is the best WipEout has ever looked.
There are a couple of nitpicks too many against Wipeout Omega Collection from being a flawless package, but the sheer hours of racing that you'll get from the game, how gorgeous it looks and how well the mechanics hold up earn it an easy and complete recommendation anyways.
WipEout Omega Collection is a fantastic update that runs as smooth as a supersonic hovercraft.
It's brutally old school and will push your hand-eye to the limit, but Wipeout Omega Collection represents style, substance and value for money in equal measure. This is a glorious homecoming of a flagship PlayStation title, an unmissable synaesthetic treat for your ear and eye holes that earns its light-seizure warnings. Your Star Wars prequel memes are mistaken. THIS is pod racing.
WipEout Omega Collection won't hold your hand
Wipeout persists as a utopian phantom consumed with aesthetic elegance and driven to exhibit a vivid sensation of speed. The nature of this package's identity—Wipeout Omega Collection is three different but very similar experiences—may nudge against a wall of homogeneity, but it's easy to overlook when you're going too fast to focus on anything in the periphery.
It does not matter that it's a remaster. It's important that WipEout comes back. And it does it in an extremely successful way, offering a plethora of fun at an attractive price. Futuristic racing has come back and show the competition how to rule.

The WipEout Omega Collection is all the WipEout goodness a fan could want. You've basically got the most modern rendition of a PlayStation classic in UHD and HDR, at a blistering frame rate and with an accompanying booming soundtrack. Yet for those of us who played these three games to death, this collection will serve as a painful reminder that we haven't seen new WipEout material on a home console in a long time. Regardless, given all the content on offer for a sub-$40 asking price, the WipEout Omega Collection is a no-brainer purchase for gamers of all kinds.
WipeOut at its best has always been gorgeous on the eyes and smooth on the ears with a soundtrack that matches the beat of the game. WipEout: Omega Collection is that sensation wrapped up in striking 4K visuals that helps define it as the definitive WipEout experience.
The WipEout Omega Collection is a great bundle of racing games that still hold up quite well today. Returning fans of the franchise will find that the racing is as good as it ever was, but may be disappointed with the lack of extras included. Newcomers who are interested in giving the series a shot will find WipEout to be unlike any other racing game currently on the market, which is oddly refreshing for a collection of old games. All in all, the WipEout Omega Collection does its job as a remaster bundle even if it does feel sparse with bonus content.
You can regret that this is not a new WipEout for PS4. But you can't blame this compilation fr being what it is. Because it is indeed a great way to meet again with the series and its beautiful and intoxicating races, with a lot of challenges and fun offered offline and online.

Wipeout Omega Collection is the triumphant return of an icon. Its blistering speed, slick visuals, and thumping soundtrack are everything you'd ever want from a Wipeout game, even if – upgrades aside – it is everything you've already had in a Wipeout game.
WipEout Omega Collection is an impressive remaster that shines at high speeds, though elements of this compilation are starting to show their age. Despite being boosted all the way up to 4K on the PS4 Pro, some of the tracks are returning for the fourth time, and while WipEout 2048's contemporary layouts look luxurious on the big screen, it can be hard to shake the feeling of familiarity on occasion. That said, if anti-grav is your bag, then there's nothing quite like the original – even with the number of inferior pretenders on the racing scene these days.
Wipeout Omega Collection offers that rare blend of arcade fun and serious racer. Fans of both can enjoy this game and there's plenty of options to make sure no one feels left out.
Once you taste that first sweet gold medal, it's hard to put down the controller knowing the next one is right around the corner.
