Nex Machina is a hard game to put down once you’ve gotten into the swing of it. Once you’ve finished one run and you’re deposited back at the menu, some combination of the awesome soundtrack and the sheer adrenaline pumping through your body will have you practically screaming for more.

Nex Machina makes the leaderboard high-score chase fun again. It does so by providing incentives of earning currency to unlock new things, player profile rankings, and encourages trying out new areas out based on your performance. Grab a another controller, and Nex Machina is a neon-filled explosionfest in co-op. Nex Machina caters to solo and co-op players in exciting ways, and near-endless replay. It is all the reason to stick around and play more after the credits have ended. Eugene Jarvis and Housemarque have made something incredibly fun and exciting, making Nex Machina the best twin-stick shooter today.

High-octane arcade style action, and constant replaying for mastery and delicious high scores, isn't for everyone. But this is an absolutely fantastic example of them, and well worth your time if you're compatible.

Nex Machina is a stellar arcade style twin-stick shooter from Housemarquee that embraces the Bullet Hell mantra perfectly with frenetic action and precise controls. This game is just a pure blast to play, and easily a standout type of title in 2017.

Nex Machina is a brilliant bullet hell shooter that should please fans of the seemingly niche genre. It’s beautiful, fast-paced and incredibly challenging, like any good shooter should be, with local co-op to boot. The game might be too difficult at times, but it’s worth a try for anyone curious about it.

Nex Machina is a gem, and one that deserves to be experienced and enjoyed by as many gamers as possible. I highly recommend this to anyone, but especially fans of twin-stick shooters and those that have been following Housemarque for years. This is definitely some of the most pure fun I've had with gaming this year, and that's saying a lot!

I have to be honest, I was a little surprised at just how good Nex Machina is. I felt like I’d seen everything twin-stick shooters had to offer, and whilst the game doesn’t really invigorate the genre nor does it do anything you wouldn’t have seen before, it just feels so damn good to play. I’ve spent hours with it already and find myself constantly coming back for more. If you’re a fan of twin-stick shooters you really need to give Nex Machina a purchase. If you’re a fan of classic arcade experiences that push your skills to the limit you need to give it a purchase. Hell, if you’re a fan of gaming, just buy Nex Machina – you’re not going to regret it.

Nex Machina, a collaboration between Housemarque (Resogun and Alienation) and legendary game developer Eugene Jarvis (massively famous for Defender, Robotron & NARC), is an explosive arcade experience that gives a strong nod towards the fun coin-op games I used to play down the arcades in the 80s/90s.

Overall, Nex Machina is a satisfying and enjoyable challenging experience. It shows what an arcade classic game can do if it’s handled well.

Nex Machina is another infinitely re-playable twin-stick arcade shooter that’s easy to pick up and play, difficult to master, and fun as all hell. And make no mistake, this game is difficult. While there are different difficulty levels to tackle based on your skill level with the game, this is probably Housemarque’s most challenging title to date. It’s a fair challenge, though (well, maybe with the exception of the game’s final boss, but that’s a conversation for another day!). The buttery smooth gameplay and perfect controls mean that any mistakes you make are your responsibility and yours alone. While Nex Machina is not re-inventing the “arcade shooter wheel” so to speak, the little ways in which this game turns Housemarque’s tried-and-true formulas of of the past on its head make for an experience that feels familiar but fresh.

The screen pulsates with pink neon lasers, flashes of light and gleaming skulls that chase after me, while I dash and dodge around, searching for humans and trying to stay alive. The latest title from Housemarque, Nex Machina is an amazing visual spectacle and the pinnacle of the twin-stick shooting genre, which the Finnish developer owns almost exclusively. (Graceful Explosion Machine on Switch notwithstanding.) The pace is frenetic from the moment your hero hops off his motorcycle and into the fray of attacking robotic spiders. Each of the six worlds is broken down into stages where the goal is to simply clear out all of the alien robot enemies and “save all the humans.” Nex Machina does a great job teaching you its mechanics as the difficulty ramps up quickly.

Nex Machina feels like a living retro experience in which the player gets trapped inside an arcade machine. The only way out is to get better, and destroy machines in the most stylish way you can possibly think.

Nex Machina is an exciting, fun and engaging shooter which can even attract those who are not a big fan of this genre. Great visuals, music and sounding show off beautifully alongside gameplay. In spite of all positive features, the game suffers from lack of content and can be beaten in no time! This cause the game to be worth less than its price and unable to keep its players busy playing.
