Sine Mora EX is a very solid title, with its unique gameplay based on time instead of a health bar, bringing a great story to PS4, XBOX ONE, Switch and PC. Seven chapters with dozens of boss battles, and the chance of playing 15 challenges that will drive players to the limit of their ability to control the airship. It is a great title that deserves to be played by all players.

I don't consider Sine Mora EX to be a game that sets the genre on fire, or redefines shmup gameplay in general. But it is very well-priced, looks fantastic, has replay value and is a fun and ferocious slice of old-school arcade action, one that can be enjoyed by battle-scarred veterans and eager rookies alike.

Intellectually and aesthetically, it's a knockout. However, it's held back somewhat by a stingy power-up system, a burdensome time mechanic, and a few mundane modes.

This is truly one of the finest shooters of the last two generations. I would love to see a follow-up next time though. This generation of remasters is starting to get out of hand.

Sine Mora EX is the definitive version of the game, adding a slew of new options, and bringing the game to the current generation for the first time. Even after five years, the art style and colorful aesthetics still help the game standout. The game's brutal difficulty and optional challenge modes help keep you playing after completing the story, especially if you want to experience it with a second player.

If you love bullet hell shoot 'em ups and have the patience to master your moves, there's a lot of bang for your buck here, especially if you owned the original Sine Mora; anyone who bought the original version can upgrade to EX for free. The campaign is short, but there's plenty of replay value in the various alternate modes for people looking to push themselves in pursuit of the leaderboard glory or just waste some time with a buddy.

Sine Mora EX isn't actually the shining beacon that all SHMUP's should inspire to be, but that game is still a fantastic entry. But for the price, exceptionally replay value and fantastic visuals, you definitely can't go wrong snagging up the title for a weekend venture. A fantastic skyward entry that both novices to the genre and grizzled SHMUP vets can both enjoy.

Sine Mora is an intriguing, stylish shooter that's well worth a punt at a budget price. Sine Mora EX, however, is a trickier sell; the underlying quality is still there and it can be a memorable experience, but the additions are sloppy and add little, making it tough to justify at its full price. On Switch it has portability going for it, with the game looking handsome on the handheld or TV - it's understandably sharper and easier to play than in the previous Vita version, for portable fans. It's a fascinating game, and may draw you back for plenty of repeat plays or even score-chasing runs to climb online leaderboards. Its flaws, however, mean it's not currently among the best of its genre.

There is not a lot of new features to be excited about in Sine Mora EX but it does provide a solid side-scrolling shooter. The addition of co-op versus modes are a nice bonus to have and make it easier to recommend the Switch version.

If you never played the original, Sine Mora EX is a great way to discover one of the most unique SHMUP from the past 10 years. While this remastered version has the merit of adding couple of extra features to appeal to the veterans, the game is still an easy sell thanks to its great gameplay mechanics, decent price tag and interesting universe.

As a full package Sine Mora EX fills in a gap in the Switch line-up unless you’ve been indulging in the NeoGeo shooter ports, which are hit and miss overall. As a showcase of the visuals the Switch is very capable of producing, particularly in handheld mode, the game looks incredibly good. For people who aren’t big shooter fans it could be hard to call, especially given the asking price. Though the difficulty level has been tweaked to make it more friendly I’m not positive what the longevity on the game will be unless you’re looking to spend time becoming better at shooters as a whole. For more experienced genre fans it’s an easier sell as not only will you be able to get rolling and enjoy getting to know the game initially but you’ll then have a meaty amount of content to revisit, refine, and work to max out your scores with. While it may have some issues Sine Mora EX is still an impressive shooter and a welcome addition to the Switch line-up.

Sine Mora EX is an excellent shoot em up with a dark narrative and some really nice boss fights and is only held back by a few flaws and its asking price.

Sine Mora EX harkens back to a time before call of Duty when "shooting game" made you think of ships or avatars that shoot bullets or lasers while navigating a screen filled with a blossom of projectiles. The visuals can make it a bit tough to figure out where things are and the game doesn't quite shake up the familiar shoot-em-up formula. An interesting time mechanic, however, combined with excellent boss designs and music make this worth checking out for "shmup" fans.

They're a sight to behold and marginally more fun to play than the levels that house them. Sine Mora is a good-looking game and it's clear that a lot of effort was put into making it that way. It's just a shame that it's not as fun to play as it is to watch in motion.

Sine Mora Ex is a good game, but the new version likely won't satisfy people who are familiar with the original. It still features the challenging and fun gameplay, but it currently doesn't warrant the hefty price tag of $30 for a few minor improvements and content. Chances are that owners of a Nintendo Switch have never had the opportunity to try Sine Mora, so they will experience a highly challenging and entertaining game. People who have played this before should wait for a sale to get the slightly touched-up and expanded version of this truly enjoyable experience.

As a single player experience, Sine Mora EX is a great modern day shooter that keeps the tradition of the coin-op alive. The collaboration between Grasshopper Manufacture and Digital Reality has been a solid one. The controls are tight, the sound is great with plenty of replayability to be had. There’s plenty of challenge for the hardcore shmup fan and a surprisingly approachable title for newbies to start off with. Some may not grasp the hook quite as strongly due to the high difficulty and repetitive nature that these games are known for nowadays.

Sine Mora EX is an amazing shmup! The story and presentation should be welcoming to newcomers of the genre. Shmup veterans will love the additional modes and the fun ranking system in the arcade mode. Being available on all consoles, including the Switch. I would recommend getting Sine Mora EX in your library!

Sine Mora EX is a tough-as-nails but engrossing shoot ‘em up that has some innovative mechanics and a pretty interesting story. While it may not be for everyone, those who are interested in the genre will find something to love with the new improvements that the EX version provides.

Embodying a modern take on the shoot 'em-up formula, Sine Mora EX sits comfortably alongside the retro offerings of the genre already on Nintendo Switch, and blazes its own path forward with impressive visuals and strong world building lore. Said lore is a little convoluted at times, and the game can be too difficult for its own good, but those seeking a strong challenge will find plenty to enjoy.
