The most fun you can have while being brutally beaten up
Much like being a fan of the real thing, WWE 2K18 is often more of a chore than it is fun. Hilariously, yet tragically, I still find myself hoping it'll be better next time.
WWE 2K18 is not the long awaiting improvement fans have been longing for. Outdated visuals and stale gameplay prevent this game from being recommandable to those who already own one of the recent iterations of the franchise.

Most people that are interested in wrestling games know what they are going to get gameplay wise, and WWE 2K18 does not let us down in that aspect. The disappointing MyCareer and lack of any real advances in the gameplay keep the game from really rising to the top this year, but the match options, along with an extensive roster of wrestlers, make WWE 2K18 one that wrestling fans should still enjoy.
Altogether, WWE 2K18 ultimately fails to deliver on the promises made by 2K Sports, barely changing things at all. The problem with My Career is that it needs to be the focus for all players, who plan to stay with the game for a longer time, but its still dull and repetetive, making it too boring over longer periods of time. Carrying your opponent around in the ring is fine and the minor changes in the My Career Mode at least shows us that the developer admits the mode needs further improvement, but in the end it needs even more of that. Nice try 2K, but better luck next time.

With some new features and advancements, WWE 2K18 shoots for the title of best wrestling game ever - it just falls a little short where it counts.
With the glitches piling up and very little in the way of innovation, WWE 2K18 continues the series' floundering output.
If wrestling is your thing, WWE 2K18 does just enough to make it worthy of your attention, but you'll always be left thinking that it could be so much more.
Drowning in modes, creative scope and possessing the best grappling gameplay in a good while, WWE 2K18 is the best the series has ever been on PS4. All the same, the time is ripe for the series to undergo the sort of far-reaching transformation that both it, and its fans, have long deserved.
A step in the right direction, tripped up by small annoyances. WWE 2K18 is only patch or two away from being…. wait for it… GLORIOUS!
The wrestling franchise is bigger than ever and has fans screaming for more. Unfortunately, the game version could easily put you in a sleeper hold.
What's most disappointing about WWE 2K18 is that there are so many good ideas present. Being able to go backstage and interact with larger-than-life wrestlers should be great fun, not a monotonous annoyance. The goals should add some much needed structure to the career, but instead they're so oddly specific that many players won't be bothered to even advance pass them. That's not even mentioning the horrendous artificial intelligence, which is somehow leaps and bounds worse than previous years. Clearly a lot of work went into this year's installment, but the end result simply did not come together in the slightest.
WWE 2K18 is an upgrade from the previous iteration. It improves on the game's core gameplay, graphics, and creation tools giving wrestling fans a fun experience they will enjoy. However, like previous iterations, the game poses a ton of excellent ideas that fall flat. MyCareer, Road to Glory, and Universe Mode are all fantastic features on paper, but lacks the depth players would want. This is a game built for the WWE Universe; it is for fans of all generations. However, if you play WWE 2K18 without an appreciation for the sport, it would be hard to convince you that it is entertaining.
WWE 2K18 is a solid entry into the annual series, but is unfortunately let down by a few clunky implementations. The presentation and actual wrestling gameplay are as good as ever and Universe Mode has seen a number of additions to make it far more enjoyable. Unfortunately, the ambitious attempt to revamp MyPlayer misses the mark a little with glitches, repetitive side-quests, and a story that's afraid to deviate even a tiny bit from its set path.
The best wrestling game to date with an impressive collection of arenas, a new and improved graphics engine and an unprecedented number of wrestlers is held back by small, annoying glitches and collision detection bugs.
Yuke's seems trapped in a Sharpshooter, that's the only way to explain this uninspired chapter in the series.

One can only wonder what could have been possible with a longer development cycle, though we'll probably have to wait until WWE 2K19 to see the full impact of Visual Concepts' changes to the franchise.
WWE 2K18's gameplay requires quite a bit of improvement and despite the effort in which developers put in it, we are still far from the ideal free wrestling experience

The WWE 2K18 series is still competing with itself for not having any other wrestling game in the industry currently, a good leap from the last part but I still see that it needs a lot of development unfortunately.

For all die hard WWE fans I can imagine that WWE 2K18 is brilliant, with all your favourite superstars on the roster you could spend a whole year playing as each character, which I'm guessing is 2K Sports idea. With all the game modes available you can find anything for any situation. Got some friends around, then take on a Royal Rumble and see who can last the longest. Alternatively have a Fatal 4-Way Hardcore match and see who can cause the most bodily harm. If you are on your own, then spend some time creating your wrestler and taking them through a career and see how high you can move up the ladder. All in all, WWE 2K18 is a fun game to play, if you aren't aware of the WWE universe then you probably won't enjoy this. However, being a fan of the sport since childhood it was refreshing to play a new iteration of the 2K Sports series.
