Beneath the surface there have been many improvements, but it's important to note that these are improvements to what was already a great game.

Overall, Dark Souls Remastered gets a 9/10, it revives the 7-year-old game from its undead status back into the limelight, even if it didn’t go far from it. The quality of life additions are welcome with no change feeling out of place or unwanted. FPS improvements make the whole experience more enjoyable, with less to blame your death on.

It's the Dark Souls of Dark Souls games, and the issues that plagued the console versions that released in 2011 have been remedied... what else needs to be said here.

Dark Souls Remastered keeps the original feelings with advanced graphics performance, which gives many players a chance to try this game on the latest console. But obviously 60 dollars is way too much for a remastered game that almost changes nothing, some old fans may think this edition is lack of sincerity.

A mediocre remaster of an all-time classic, but by the mere act of fixing (most of) the frame rate problems this becomes the definitive version of one of the decade's most influential video games.

While bare-bones on the surface, Dark Souls Remastered is one of the best games of the last 20 years running better than it ever has. New players will find all of the mood, challenge, and tension of the original, and returning vets are given beefier online options and minor tweaks to small details. More importantly, it keeps one of the medium's best games easily accessible and readily available.

For those who are already fans of the series, Dark Souls Remastered is just a polished version of an already great game, but for me, it was a bit more special. With the technical issues eliminated, Dark Souls can shine and is a much more satisfying experience.

If you have previously played the original, there are little changes here to warrant returning to Lordran (unless you want to of course). However, the core of the game is still one of the most intriguing, challenging, and beautifully created gaming experiences currently available; so, I wholeheartedly recommend picking it up despite its flaws

Dark Souls Remastered is the best version for Dark Souls on consoles, and it's still one of the best Action-RPG of all time. The 60fps framerate is a real pleasure, as the other technical improvements too. We would have prefered a real remake, but it's still a very good way to (re)discover the series.

Let’s not look the Dark Souls Remastered as a Remastered game and look this game as a new 2018 action RPG. The point is that Dark Souls is still one of the best action RPG even as a “2018 all new game”. Now, experiencing the Dark Souls is so much better than before, because of the amazing 60 frame per second that upgrade our Dark Souls experience to the next level. Dark Souls Remastered is a “Must-Buy” game for both new players that never played Dark Souls before and veteran fans of this series, even if they played the original Dark Souls more than 1000 hours like me!! Don’t waste your time and begin one of your best hardcore challenging adventures in gaming history with Dark Souls Remastered, an amazing masterpiece by From Software.

This is the incredible game that you know and love - nothing more, and nothing less. It's an amazing way to begin the series for newcomers, but hardcore fans might be let down by the absence of additional content.

Much like going back to play Ocarina of Time, you’re witnessing the foundations of many modern games here. And some pieces of magic that no other game – even a Souls game – have managed to replicate since.

If you’ve played the original Dark Souls before, or the Prepare to Die Edition on PC, there really isn’t much here for you in the way of new content. So unless you’re dying to see Blighttown and Lost Izalith run at a steady frame-rate, I’d only recommend it if you’re looking for an excuse to replay the game. However, if you haven’t played this game before, you’d be doing yourself a disservice not to pick it up. A lot of things that kept it from ageing well have been ironed out and make Dark Souls Remastered the definitive way to play this game. If you’ve ever been remotely interested or have played and enjoyed other Souls games, now is the best time to try it.

Dark Souls Remastered is also in this version one kind of an experience: The game does not give you anything, but manages to deliver unique moments of success while progressing through the game and comes with very deep-rooted and highly sophisticated gameplay mechanics. Despite there is no additional content aside the Prepare to Die Edition and only a few minor graphical changes were made, fans and new entrants to the series should definitely get their hands on one of the most insteresting and fascinating titles in the history of videogames.

Dark Souls Remastered is a special experience. With almost no narrative or direct story the game somehow utilizes combat to force the player to feel true emotion, you’ll feel victorious, devastated, inspired, distraught, confused, powerful and so much more. The world really works well with the story that’s available to convey a quest of epic proportion. You know what you’re doing is important. You feel the stakes. It’s this gauntlet of emotions that a player feels that makes Dark Souls so unique. There’s no doubt that this is an incredibly challenging game, but it’s a challenge well worth undertaking. There is no way to describe the sense of personal achievement this game will give you, experience it yourself and you’ll feel an addiction creeping in that you won’t be able to escape. This Remaster really is the definitive Dark Souls experience and a brilliant way to make one of the best games as accessible as possible.

Something more could be done regarding graphics and additions/improvements to the game formula, but Dark Souls Remastered remains a successful re-release of an extraordinary game.

Dark Souls Remastered is a great trip back to Lordran. While the original game may be showing its age, and various mechanics have been improved in later entries, this may be a trip down memory lane worth the asking price of $39.99 USD for fans of the innovative original. New players to the franchise could do much worse to start here, since the smoothness of the action ensures that each death is due to their own lack of skill and nothing else. This is certainly the best way to experience Dark Souls on console.

Dark Souls Remastered is still a masterclass in level design, and it remains the pinnacle of third-person action games. Longtime fans will be pleased with the improved performance on both consoles and PC. And if you're a newcomer wondering if you should get your feet wet with this entry, the answer is an absolute, resounding ‘Yes.'
