Even with a new battle royale to play, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 still feels like a game too shackled by its conventions to offer much more than a small step forward.

Black Ops 4 is one of the best and enjoyable all-in multiplayer experiences out there right now and arguably the best COD in a good many years.

Treyarch does not revolutionize the genre but has known how to "borrow" ideas from other games to create a really fun game that will keep us glued to the screen for hours and hours.

Treyarch have jumped fully on board the Battle Royale bandwagon, but not content with that, have jumped into the drivers seat and changed up a gear to give the best and most fun version of the genre. If fast and varied action and plenty of firepower is what you want, Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is going to be right up your street.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 manages to take the series forward while still holding on to what made it great in the first place. There are lots of changes here, but they all feel like changes for the better. It’s still comfortable in its old spot, but it knows what the fans want and it delivers.

From classic competitive multiplayer to zombie slaughter to battle royale experiences, Black Ops 4 is the complete package for fans of online first-person shooters. The game has some bugs and design flaws, but Treyarch has already shown that they're listening to feedback and working hard to make the game as flawless as possible.

Treyarch eschewed one of the tent poles of every Call of Duty game since the original, perhaps boldly, with removing the campaign to make the game more omnipresent, accounting for all types of players who enjoy multiplayer gaming. The game now has three powerful modes that offers “something for everybody”. This was previously the case when campaign was a part of it, but there is somewhat of a shift away from single-player experiences, and the direction is shown here. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 almost defiantly makes itself known as the ultimate all-in-one multiplayer experience to play – and does so with incredible confidence and execution.

There are still some changes that need to be made for the sake of balance, but overall this is an extremely varied multiplayer foray.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has made a sacrifice that will definitely cause some to turn away from the title. However, removing the campaign came with its own line of benefits. Multiplayer has an addictive twist for those who like their traditional Call of Duty experience, Zombies is as engaging and fun as ever, and Blackout is arguably one of the best Battle Royale experiences available.

Call of Duty is one of the notorious franchises in video games and carries a reputation for one of the most acclaimed and addicting multiplayer series. When Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 was announced many were annoyed that the sub-series within the franchise known for telling great stories would be abandoning single-player for a multiplayer-only experience. It delivers a by the numbers Call of Duty experience that will satisfy those who love the multiplayer experience but won't win those who've left the franchise behind or had no interest in the first place.

So we can say that we have a Call of Duty in front of us, trying to take a step forward and we can only get half done. The well-structured multiplayer, rich in modes, optimization and zombie mode are certainly points in favor that make the title enjoyable and entertaining. The introduction of the Battle Royale, which may not appeal to everyone, is actually a good feature if you think about its realization; on the other hand, those who are not interested can not always play with it. Too bad for the absence of the singleplayer that has always characterized the title, but that perhaps was now a part reached the end. Too bad, however, for the graphics that is certainly the least cured part of the entire production. Overall, however, despite some flaws, the game lets you play with pleasure, satisfying a bit 'the tastes of all users!

While innovation wasn't a focus, the sheer value for money that you get with this game is more than enough to offset any doubts that this game isn't worth it.

Call of Duty Black Ops 4 manages easily to compensate the missing singleplayer campaign with lots of multiplayer goodness and a battle royale mode that shouldn't be afraid of fortnite or pubg. The Class Campaigns could be better and some of the recycled elements of the previous games aren't that well integrated but besides that fans of the series will get an amazing multiplayer package with a great zombie mode on top of it all.

In the end, Call of Duty: Black Ops IIII is a rock-solid title, but it could have been so much more. Forcing it to fit under the Black Ops moniker was a mistake, and comes across as forced, given its very light relation to the previous three titles. The whole thing smacks of Treyarch wanting to take risks and go in new directions, but stopping just shy and instead tacking older characters or ideas. Longtime fans of the franchise won't want to miss out on this - especially those who love the Zombies experience - but those who checked out of Call of Duty before likely won't find enough here to bring them back.

Although controversial, the decision to swap the singleplayer campaign for a popular and alien game mode shows a complete evolution in the franchise as it consolidates as one of the freshest installments in the series. Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 has the real potential to make jaded veterans return to a game that feels different, fair and requires skill and, at the same time, is supported by two gigantic modes that are addictive and fun to play.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is undoubtedly an outstanding FPS. The game presents excellent graphics, a lot of known game modes - but with some novelties, a gameplay that grips the player and it still manages to add the battle royale in a convincent way. Black Ops 4 hits the bullseye.
