Valkyria Chronicles 4 has a rich lore and excellent gameplay system reminding us of the glorious days of the franchise. A worthy return for one of the best tactical-RPG from SEGA.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 went back to the roots of the original. The gameplay has stayed nearly the same after nine years, with the exception of the new Grenadier class, but it still stands as firm as a rock. If you enjoyed the original, you will enjoy VC4.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 draws you into its world and characters, keeping you firmly on the front lines of its all-encompassing war while never losing sight of its more grounded ideals and humanity. Fully equipped to be a unique, involved, and visually exquisite strategy game, there’s hardly anything holding it back from victory.

I have consistently advocated good character development and a likable cast and this is all present in Valkyria Chronicles 4. The strategic combat is more of the same but the new cast offers a refreshing change of pace that can overcome the lack of innovation in the gameplay department.

Valkyria Chronicles has had a rough go of it since its initial release. Although the remastered version of the original sold well, the second game was divisive and the third was never localized. Don't even get me started on the Revolution side game. But with Valkyria Chronicles 4, the series is back and everyone needs to enlist.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 is what happens when you safely positively iterate on a beloved game. It doesn't pull any punches and returns to the series' roots in a way that is both nostalgic and new. By adding more character depth, a new class and expanding the battlefields, Sega has really managed to capture my attention again. It might be too safe, but it's great to see such a solid new addition to a series of games that have had a few missteps.

Ten years have passed since the release of the first title, but the mechanics and the unique mix of action, visual novel and turn-based strategy of the Valkyria Chronicles franchise remain enjoyable and addicting, making this fourth episode probably the best up to now.

We were 7 years without a numbered game of this acclaimed series. Valkyria Chronicles 4 tells a beautiful story with a beautiful visual aspect, mixing the usual tactical battles but now they are more agile and they are for more audience. Sega will manage to expand the brand.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 returns to the roots of the franchise to deliver the sequel that we have been waiting for 10 years. The best entry in the series so far and an awesome starting point for future Valkyria Chronicle games.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 is a pretty conservative entry in the series, but the great story and strategic gameplay will hook you up like the rest of the Valkyrya Chornicles titles.

With a charming anime style, the story of Claude Wallace and Squad 6 knows how to convince the player, without losing it unique gameplay experience. Varied strategy in watercolor-anime style with human history and resonating anti-war message.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 is the sequel I've been waiting for, returning to the roots of what made the first game so special. It adds a handful of new and interesting mechanics to its tactical battles, nearly all of which improve the formula in tangible ways, but otherwise plays it fairly safe. The story can feel a little bit impersonal and disconnected from the rest of the series, but the way it makes even the smallest characters important and alive is remarkable. It's great to see the Valkyria Chronicles series back on track, as it's still one-of-a-kind.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 does the franchise justice, possibly more than any other Valkyria Chronicles title. If you are looking for a good new strategy game, this should be on your radar.

Valkyria Chronicles finally comes back to major gaming platforms, where it belongs. Despite some minor defects, the management of tactics and strategies in and out the battlefield offers a great experience. SEGA bring us a huge amount of high-quality content, but the tone of the narrative might not be in line with part of the western audience.

Valkyria Chronicles 4 is a fantastic return to form and delivers on everything Valkyria Chronicles fans have wanted for years. The game also offers a lot of value, taking around 35-45 hours just to beat the main story then still having plenty more to do afterwards. While the game hasn’t pushed the boundaries of the earlier titles too far it is still a solid strategy RPG with a great cast of well developed characters. If you like strategy RPG’s and games that carry an anime aesthetic I highly recommend you check this out, even if it’s your first Valkyria Chronicles game.
