Ys: Memories of Celceta does it's best to put the spotlight on the series narrative, but the adventures of amnesiac Adol barely hold a candle to the fast and frenetic combat of the game. What seems like a mindless hack-and-slash on the surface quickly becomes a palm-drenching test of patience through its punishing and satisfying boss battles. Even if you come to Ys: Memories of Celceta looking for a trip through the lore of the franchise, you'll likely end up staying for that classic, addictive Ys combat.
Ys: Memories of Celceta for PlayStation 4 brings us one of the best game of Ys saga. An alternative story full of great moments and a frantic and entertaining gameplay. We will have many options for battles like a good RPG and an excelent sondtrack to accompany them.

Ys: Memories of Celceta is a game where it’s more about the journey than the destination. Every portion of the map presents a new discovery, and that becomes wildly satisfying across the 20-hour runtime. The story elements and flimsy side-missions don’t always help with the overall engagement, but that doesn’t really matter when the battle system is just so much fun.
Between the exhilarating action-orientated combat and the neat explorative elements, Ys: Memories of Celceta offers plenty to excite RPG fans. Don’t get me wrong, it doesn’t really do anything too unique from an RPG standpoint and the story embraces all of the hallmarks of the genre in an almost predictable manner, but it certainly does a good job of providing an entertaining adventure that’ll keep gamers hooked in right until the very end. Whether you’ve played an Ys game before or you’re completely new to the franchise, Ys: Memories of Celceta is a very easy title to recommend for action-RPG fans.
Though you might not find anything new here if you’ve played through Ys: Memories of Celceta before, Ys is just one of those series that is consistently fun to go back to no matter how many times you play it.
The action is great - it's shallow, but that's not a criticism when it's this smooth and enjoyable - but I just can't get past the lack of context.
Ys: Memories of Celceta remains the best that the incredible ARPG series has to offer. Although it hasn't changed much over the years, it's cool that those who missed it on PlayStation Vita can now enjoy it on PS4.
While there are things that hold Ys: Memories of Celceta back, the main concepts are good. It won't take long to be interested in where the story is going and combat is a good mixture of mindless fun and tactical planning. It's unfortunate it feels rather floaty and weapons are weightless, along with characters moving at an unnerving speed but if you can overlook these shortcomings and the dated graphics, you'll likely have an action RPG you'll want to explore and complete.
Whether you’re an Ys fan eagerly waiting for the series’ ninth mainline game, or just a JRPG fan in general, there’s a lot to love in Memories of Celceta. Very few games like this are fun enough for me to actively want to fight and grind for hours on end.
Ys: Memories of Celceta is a good game. This PS4 port just doesn’t do enough to make it stand out in the current market, however.
In spite of an ending that leaves much to be desired, Ys: Memories of Celceta is a great action-RPG that re-contextualizes a decades-old franchise for a modern audience.
The new PlayStation 4 version of Ys: Memories of Celceta is a great upgrade over both the original and the PC versions. Despite having a single technical issue in Comodo Village and a resolution which doesn’t seem to be above 1080p, the game itself looks beautiful with it’s living and breathing world, unique characters, interesting enemies, and grand vistas. The combat is incredibly satisfying, the bosses are fun to face, and completing the numerous side-missions felt exciting and rewarding rather than repetitive and dull. If you’ve never played the game, or only partially completed it on the Vita, you have no excuse to not pick up Ys: Memories of Celceta today (or on June 19th in EU and Australia).
Despite being a remaster of a VITA game, Ys: Memories of Celceta is another excellent addition to the Ys series that is now accessible to a larger fanbase where it may perhaps get the recognition it deserves.
Memories of Celceta is like a bite-size RPG for kids or for the millennial with time constraints who still wants to play RPGs, but can’t commit to 100-hour behemoths like Persona 5. It’s fun and doesn’t outstay its welcome. Combat is fast, but it also suffers from being simple and heavy on the button-mashing. The story takes you for a ride, but it’s also pedestrian and does nothing new – it’s like deja vu, in that it feels like an RPG story you’ve heard time and again.
Ys: Memories of Celceta is a fine port, but there is plenty of room for improvement. Fans of the Ys series should enjoy it; all others should check out some videos beforehand.
Memories of Celceta is a perfect onboarding point for anyone looking for something more exotic than the ATB system, but with the look and feel of a classic game of that bygone era. It’s engaging, satisfying, and perhaps most telling of all has me excited to check out other entries in this storied franchise.
Ys: Memories of Celceta is a fast paced ARPG. Although it has been optimized into full HD resolution with 60fps, it will take some time for your eyes to get used to the new graphic vibe. If you're a long running fan of the Ys series, you can add another fun element of trying to find 'what has changed' from the 4th installment of the Ys title.

Ys: Memories of Celceta features a thrilling combat system and wonderful score that will please anyone in search of a classic-style JRPG. Although its party AI is wonky at times, this Ys IV remake is a must-buy title for role-playing game fans.
That said, Ys: Memories of Celceta *did* accomplish many of the things I was looking for within a new franchise; it is a series of games that I have not experienced before while scratching the action-RPG itch that I have had for some time. With clean, highly adjustable graphics, running along smoothly along at 60 FPS is a wonderful affair and after Nihon Falcom / XSEED pushed through a fix to address combat slowing down a bit at higher framerates, an extremely fast and engaging experience. When combining the delicious sound effects, voice acting, and snappy combat, Ys: Memories of Celceta is both a successful port and a fun little title; just try to reduce any expectation of it bringing something new and exciting to the table.
Ys Memories Of Celceta is yet another excellent entry in the action role-playing game series by Falcom, taking everything that made Ys SEVEN good and elevating it to new heights. Even with its small issues, such as low difficulty level and unoriginal story, Ys Memories Of Celceta is a game that all fans of fast-paced action RPGs should experience at least once.
