I have enjoyed every minute I have spent playing Rage 2 since its release, and I’m looking forward to diving into the DLC down the road. Rage 2 is going to get the Thumb Culture Gold Award from me for being so damn fun, in spite of its short length. It’s not often I play many games lately that I look forward to playing again. I definitely recommend it.

Bringing Avalanche on board seems like it has been a masterstroke, as id Software’s peerless shooter library gets another superb entry.

The collaboration between id Software and Avalanche Studios has been successful by joining forces with the two forces of the studios. Thanks to id Software, the game has a rock-solid gameplay with various weapons and powers, and with Avalanche Studios' engine, the world has become beautiful, the color splashes off the screen, and there are many vehicles to use. That's why it's such a shame that the storyline is so short and has no surprises of its own, so the lion's share of RAGE 2 comes from the side missions and activities. What remains is a short, but powerful game that secretly could have lasted a lot longer.

Rage 2 is definitely a step up from the original, with a bigger world that feels a lot more desolate (in a good way). It has a variety of lands to explore, unique bosses to run into, and a bevy of leveling trees that will keep you motivated throughout the gameplay. What it needed and didn't get were a better story and less repetition. The game has grown, but it still has more than enough room to continue to grow.

As a fan of postapocalyptic scenarios I was really looking forward to the release of Rage 2. Even if the fulminant intro, the fast paced Doom-like battles and the handling of the vehicles convinced me completely, the dull and monotonous open-world prevent the shooter from fullfilling its potential.

If you're looking for something to blow things up, using super powers and crazy weapons, then you're going to love Rage 2. Just don't look any further, because there's nothing more to see.

Rage 2 is a pleasure to play if you like to shoot and destroy things, but don't ask for much more in terms of gameplay ... you would be disappointed

Perhaps the most painful aspect concerns the structure of the campaign. The main missions are interspersed with phases of pure "grinding" in which it is necessary to increase the level of the three allied "factions". If the number of hours needed to complete the story had already seemed low, you should know that the main quest is actually composed of a really unjustifiable number of missions (you don't get to a dozen).

Rage 2 has room to grow, but it's also a great game to pick up and play. Combat is visceral in all the right ways, and exploration is always rewarding. A few technical issues and a general sense of sameness keep it from pure excellence, but Rage 2 still represents a good time.

Rage 2 isn't a revolution, but it's a well-executed open world shooter with satisfying core gameplay and big splashes of color.

Even after 8 years, the Rage series is still having an identity crisis. It has all the signifiers of an open-world game, but it lacks the overall narrative that makes the world compelling, and its best bits—that is, its gunfights—take places in either small, complexly designed arenas or in hallways, like a linear shooter. The greatest irony about Rage 2 is that it might have been an even better, more interesting game if it was more like the first game with a fresh coat of (pink) paint. What it is now is just a bunch of sound and fury, which can be fun for a while, but it's ultimately an empty experience.

Combat is by far the biggest selling point of Rage 2, and Avalanche Software should be proud of a title that continually draws comparisons the super-tight Doom reboot in my mind.

Rage 2 is a great game for the right reasons. If you're looking for a game with a phenomenal story, you're in the wrong place. The story is boring to me, and rather short at 13 hours of leisurely gameplay. At the very least it doesn't drop off the planet like Rage did. Gameplay is fun, and vehicle combat works well, giving you an open world Mad Max-esque experience that is simply enjoyable and hard to put down.

Rage 2 is a super violent shooting game with a huge amount of blast, blood, and body pieces. Killing and torturing enemies is extremely exciting. However, the open-world of the game is hollow and full of flaws.

Even with its shortcomings, Rage 2 is super fun. If you're excited for Doom Eternal, Rage 2 will be the perfect appetizer as you wait for that game. It's like someone mixed a bunch of powerful drugs together with what can only be described as FPS porn and said: "Inject this into your veins". It's endlessly gratifying to play but may lack the substance some gamers require in a AAA game released in 2019 via story and open-world longevity.

Over a dozen hours or so I never felt like more than just an errand boy for each of the three main characters throwing me around the world — go here, shoot some guys, come back… it was just rinse and repeat.

RAGE 2 offers an incredibly stylish and pleasing combat system with a variety of weapons and skills, but the open world traversal and a disappointing story make it a less than stellar experience.

Rage 2's Gameplay is incredibly fun and fluid. The vehicle combat and story are the biggest let down, as well as an empty open world.
