The Outer Worlds proves less is more. Obsidian knocks it out of the park with great writing, fun combat, and deep RPG mechanics.

The Outer Worlds is a wild adventure that really goes out of its way to give the players a memorable experience in a very replayable way. There is life in the game and there’s barely any annoyances that would make one think otherwise of playing it. The decision making you do as a player really solidifies its core element which is the player’s choice (not Spacer’s Choice). Every little thing you do in the Outer Worlds will have an impact on you whether you noticed it or not.

The Outer Worlds comes to fill a void that many could feel with the launch of Fallout 76. A game that will not revolutionize the genre but that offers with mastery what is expected of a good RPG: total freedom to play it in a way or another and a narrative that stands out among everything that has come to us this year. Absolutely essential for role lovers

The Outer Worlds is a fun return to a tried and true formula. It doesn't break any molds, but it does approach its genre with a bit more nuance than we've seen in quite some time.

Obsidian has nailed it again with another stellar RPG. While by no means a perfect game, The Outer Worlds successfully brings back the glory days of the traditional western RPG, blending story and gameplay quite beautifully together, without really compromising each other.

I haven't laughed so hard about a video game in a long time. The dialogue options of The Outer Worlds are pure gold! If you have the chance to have a chat with the moustached hipster drug courier in Fallbrook, you should definitely take that opportunity. Apart from the creative gags, the missions are also well staged and offer many different solutions. Rarely have I had such freedom. The world reacts to everything I do in it, and it's just fun to watch the chaos I create unfold. You can see the fine-tuning of the game and it's very clear what elements the developers have focused on. In those very areas, The Outer Worlds does everything right and with this recipe for success has secured a place in my Top 3 for 2019.

Overall, The Outer Worlds is an experience I cannot recommend enough. With its breadth of player choice, and equally diverse cast there is sure to be something here for the majority of gamers.

The Outer Worlds is an unexpected surprise hit that has been far too quietly announced for its quality. The background story is excellent and the ability to solve different solutions is extremely well implemented. Although there is still a lot of room for improvement in damage physics around the area, a ball orgy should not be the title anyway. We like the soundtrack very well, even if the German dubbing is painfully missed. Thus, the title is always a look and worth a purchase, at least to wait until the next "right" Fallout title to bridge.

The Outer Worlds did a great job reminding us of a gameplay loop and style that we have many fond memories with. Obsidian Entertainment excels when it comes to this genre and style of game, and with them joining the ranks of Microsoft, I can only hope Phil Spencer and the minds at Xbox will allow them to flourish making the kind of games they do best. If this was anything to go by, the future is looking bright for Obsidian.

Amidst the ongoing PR fiasco of Fallout 76 and Bioware's disastrous looter-shooter Anthem, The Outer Worlds could not have dropped at a more opportune time. Acting as the spiritual successor to Fallout: New Vegas, The Outer Worlds is a reasonably polished, refreshing roleplaying title that puts story and dialogue at its forefront in favour of robust gameplay and mechanics.  It's a timely reminder of how good these RPGs can be when you focus on creating a good game rather than a polished monetised model and the result is something that immediately feels familiar and enjoyable to anyone who's played Obsidian's previous games.

Although not without some drawbacks, The Outer Worlds is one of Obsidian's better efforts.

There’s no denying that The Outer Worlds bears the imprint of earlier Obsidian games and a number of other timeless RPGs as well, but those influences do little to diminish the accomplishment of some amazing worldbuilding, entertaining storytelling and brilliantly realized characters.

Despite having quite a few flaws, the game still stands out in the RPG genre, with the game's writing being instrumental in getting it there.

If you enjoy deep engaging stories and strong RPG elements or science fiction. I completely recommend the Outer Worlds, as it is more than Fallout in Outer Space.

Obsidian is outdone. If you love RPGs, play it. Many say it's the "copy of Fallout New Vegas", let him do the meme and don't care about them, the experience is fundamentally different and sometimes deeper. The Outer Worlds is a game with a refined humor and never invasive or "cringe". Several ethical and moral themes will be touched on and it's up to you to decide the fate of entire worlds. If the title had a higher budget I would have been forced to give it an 8.5, considering instead the work of the Californian team that is certainly not famous for pharaonic figures behind the development a 9 is more than deserved. Thanks for letting me rediscover the beauty of RPGs, not one that was so beautiful for too long.

The Outer Worlds is a devotedly single-player experience where player choice, witty dialogue, detailed worlds and interesting characters are paramount and may be Obsidian Entertainment’s magnum opus.

Obsidian Entertainment is making a flight of fancy with the role-playing game The Outer Worlds, which Bethesda was denied last year. Despite the strongly linear structures and the half-open, lifeless areas, The Outer Worlds indisputably follows in the big AAA footsteps of the Fallout franchise without embarrassing itself. Thanks to the great variance of decision possibilities and the deeply rooted moral system, the American studio also enhances the marginal complexity behind the role-playing construct, which above all benefits the narrative with its humorous touch and entertaining social criticism. Obsidian Entertainment simply relies on the player as an unforeseen variable to counter repetitive influences. With the versatile solutions and the opaque moral component, the Fallout New Vegas developer finally gives Bethesda instructions on how to pull up the controls of a crashing plane.

What The Outer Worlds offers in artistic creativity, it lacks in quest diversity. Exploring the colony is really exciting and you will lose yourself in everything it has to offer. unfortunately, you will end up performing a lot of the same menial tasks throughout the relatively short campaign. You have access to an incredible world but the quests never take full advantage of it. There is far too much focus on the political problems of the colony and not enough action and adventure. You never feel like the hero of the story, you feel more like the middle man between the people that are actually important.
