Super Mario Maker 2 does a fantastic job of laying the foundation for a seemingly endless supply of 2D platforming fun.
Super Mario Maker 2 brings the course creator to Nintendo Switch with a bevy of new tricks to delight creators and players alike.
The current lack of Amiibo Support and one or two needed improvements to the online modes mean it isn't "perfect", but Super Mario Maker 2 is the ultimate package for both casual and dedicated Mario fans. Absolutely brilliant.

There are a lot of things Super Mario Maker 2 gets right.
All in all, Super Mario Maker 2 is about as solid of a sequel as you could ask for. It's fun and easy to play, offers a staggering amount of content, feels like it adds enough new fresh features that it isn't just a DLC/re-release with a fancy name, and it's generally everything the game should be. If you enjoy Mario-style gameplay, then you owe it to yourself to give SMM2 a shot. The Nintendo-provided levels are a delight to play, and there are so many varieties of user-created levels out there that you'll never run out of options.
All in all, I have to admit I had fun testing Super Mario Maker 2, and as soon as I'm done with this review, I'm going back to designing yet another level!
There's no two ways about it- if you own a Switch, you need to own Super Mario Maker 2 as well.
With a solid story campaign with 100 levels and a level design tool that allows players to create and play through each other's levels, Super Mario Maker 2 looks infinite. It is without a doubt one of the most complete Mario titles ever and one of the best titles available on Nintendo Switch.

Despite putting a lot of time into the game, I feel like I’ve barely scratched the surface of Super Mario Maker 2. There really is a massive amount of content here just waiting to be toyed with, and it makes me wish for more. I simply can’t get enough, so back to Course Maker I go!

Super Mario Maker 2 is still heavily about the creation process, but adds great new features that make it even more enjoyable than ever before.
Like we said, we can't call Super Mario Maker 2 a bad game, not by a long shot. It's just that it could be better. Heck, if a few usability issues were fixed and a few more items were added to maker mode, we would be giving this game a perfect 10/10. As it stands, there's room for improvement and hopefully we will see that improvement in future DLC patches.
Highly engaging whether you want to create levels or not, Super Mario Maker 2 is utterly fantastic.
When all is said and done I feel that Super Mario Maker 2 does an excellent job of delivering both an amazingly deep, and intuitive, creation tool, while coupling it with a fun single player campaign full of classic Nintendo charm.
Super Mario Maker 2 didn't present any substantial changes from its predecessor, yet the game unique course building and thousands of user generated content is a blast to experience years to come.

It’s inspired gamer’s and developers for generations, and Super Mario Maker 2 will inspire many young gamers for many years to come. The tools given here to a younger generation of gamers will only inspire a new pool of developers in the coming years. Think, Design, and show it to the world. Super Mario Maker 2, shows the industry how groundbreaking the Mario franchise is, and forever will be.
Annoyances like imperfect building controls and laggy online play put a slight damper on things, but they’re not deal-breakers. Super Mario Maker 2 is a mandatory Mario experience.
A well-made and content-packed sequel.

Between the story mode, online challenges and tutorials there’s loads to learn and do, but the learning is a really enjoyable and rewarding experience, and you can happily get lost in creating your dream Mario Land.
