By and large, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered looks and feels a heck of a lot like the PlayStation classic I know and love — and even with the minimal changes, it's still worth a pickup for newcomers and veterans alike.
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered is the best version of one of the most divisive entries in the series. Though the base game has its flaws, the world of Final Fantasy VIII is as intriguing as ever, and the Junction system is still one of the most unique mechanics in the series’s history. The ability to fast-forward makes slow animations a non-problem, while the other mods make it easier than ever for newcomers to try out the maverick Final Fantasy installment.
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered is a battle against time. Story is surely great, and we love all the characters, and a lot of nostalgia is there for the die hard fans of the series, but on the other side, the visuals and gameplay mechanics are dated and can't be compared with even mediocre 8th gen titles. In the end, FFVIIIR is nothing more than a game built to take full advantage of the hype set by FFVIIR.

Going all the way back to the golden age of JRPGs, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered is one of the more admirable efforts by Square Enix to bring their classic games lineup to a modern platform. Minor issues aside, it is not a bad way to experience this gem.
It might not have the effect of 7 nor the love of 9, but this divisive entry is one of the most ambitious and important, and this release is a decent way to try it.

If you bring lower your expectations from Graphics improvements a remaster game should have seen, then Final Fantasy VIII Remastered is still the same amazing game that every fan of JRPG loves so much. Beautiful story, lovable characters and some new gameplay elements, made Final Fantasy VIII Remastered a unique and enjoyable game. Even after 3 generations, it is still one of the best JRPGs you can play. After all it is Final Fantasy VIII! You should definitely try it .

If you’re looking to relive a classic or catch up on one of the PS1’s greatest RPGs you missed I would recommend picking up Final Fantasy VIII Remastered without a doubt.

Final Fantasy VIII Remastered still has many of the same design flaws as the original release, but new visuals and gameplay tweaks make this the best version of a beloved classic.
Final Fantasy VIII Remastered is a nice occasion to revisit Rinoa and Squall's adventure for those who've already played the original, albeit more could have been done to make the game more appealing for modern audiences.

The best way to play Final Fantasy VIII, and there's nothing a patch or two can't fix.
Final Fantasy 8 Remastered is a patchy but ultimately solid port of a classic JRPG. If you haven't played it before, you’ve no excuse not to become acquainted with the world of FF8, even if the game is at times hard to look at on a 16:9 display.
We finally have the remastered Final Fantasy VIII fans have been waiting for. They gameplay is there exactly as it was previously and it’s a fun trip through a crazy timey-wimey story. But how does the remaster hold up decades later?
FF8 Remastered finally returns Squall and crew to the spotlight, and they're right at home on the Nintendo Switch as a mobile masterpiece.
Released long after the successive reissues of the other two Final Fantasy of the PlayStation, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered does not suffer from the defects found in these different versions (loop music, mobile interface of bad taste ...) and therefore legitimately bears his name. Nothing extraordinary compared to the original game, no additional content offered to fans for example, but a new quality varnish that enhances the original experience and allows you to dive in the best way possible.

The developers have slightly improved the graphics, so unlike the FFVII port, Final Fantasy VIII Remastered can be played without tears. Unfortunately, the animation and backgrounds are the same as in the original and looks very outdated. Anyway it is same great game capable to captivate on tens hours interesting history, classical mechanics and approach to development of skills. Especially if played on the Nintendo Switch's small screen, which smoothes out most of the roughness.

It's easy to see why Final Fantasy VIII is considered one of the series' most divisive entries, but its story and gameplay systems remain unique 20 years after its original release. Final Fantasy VIII Remastered has its flaws -- the draw system is still a total pain in the arse -- but there's a magic and atmosphere to Squall's often mental adventure that's incredibly endearing. This is a PlayStation classic given a new lease of life, and it's still way more interesting than the majority of Japanese RPGs hitting our consoles today.
Nothing new in this remaster of Final Fantasy VIII, but even after twenty years, the title remains a great game, to discover and play again.
