Torchlight 2, an action RPG and dungeon crawler from a previous generation, joins the Nintendo Switch catalogue in an example of how a conversion work should be handled: a register of excellence, where everything has been marvelously handled. The game may not be entirely groundbreaking but that becomes less relevant in the face its content, exploration, customization possibilities and how well it fits in the Switch format.

A great port of a fantastic game, Torchlight 2 still holds up as a great example of an ARPG dungeon-crawler that is unfortunately plagued by some annoying bugs and control scheme limitations
Genre veterans may want to pause and think before buying, as there isn’t a whole lot here you haven’t seen before, but it’s tough to argue that you won’t enjoy the time you spend with this one.

Outside of Diablo III this is probably the best action-RPG currently available anywhere. Do not miss out on this exemplary title. It is a shame that the new Torchlight is not a continuation of the formula, but considering the quality of the first two games I will give anything bearing the namesake a shot.
Considering the fact that the game only costs $20, it represents astonishing value because it'll take you dozens of hours to complete and features a lot of replayability. Just don't expect the best story.
Torchlight II is up there with the best examples of the genre, but Runic Games makes very little attempt to advance the genre beyond what we were already comfortable with a decade ago.
It's no longer the Diablo killer it used to be, but this remains a superior dungeon crawler, with great action and loot that still puts it amongst the genre's best.
As it stands however, Torchlight II, a good game, stays a good game but some key features feel missing in the transition to console in the seven years since the initial release.

Where it does excel and differentiate itself is in its colorful environments, heavily contrasting with other similar titles that tend to go for a much darker dungeon crawler approach.
Torchlight II has arisen from the depths of the shadows to compete in the race of memorable ARPGs, along with Diablo III and Path of Exile – who both have similar styles.
Overall, Torchlight II on the Switch is an excellent addition to its library of fun, multiplayer-oriented games for both new fans and those wanting to return to the world of Vilderan after an extended absence.
Seven years after its initial release, Torchlight 2 finally graces the console generation and proves that you don't have to have Diablo in your title to make an impact. Torchlight 2 is a near-perfect dungeon crawler that no fan of the genre can afford to miss.
Torchlight II is undoubtedly worth the price, and it’s high on replay value with new classes to discover. The problems it does have are mostly minor, but it’s not for gamers looking for an involved story. And in some places, it could use a little more depth.
Torchlight II is a superb addition to your library and an absolute blast alone or with friends.
Torchlight II is a lovely, well-crafted game. Its colorful and inviting world is a pleasure to explore. The eclectic soundtrack provides an alternately haunting and energizing accompaniment to your exploits. The classes are distinctive, and each has a terrific assortment of skills. To top it all off, this sizable and thoroughly satisfying game is a great value.
Torchlight 2 doesn't reinvent the series, but there's an absurd amount more of everything that made the original great.
We are facing one of the best exponents of Action RPG that we can find on consoles. Flowing action, continuous progression, ease of use, perfect playability and an artistic finish that maintains the type 7 years later ... whatever we say is little to extol a game that you are forced to buy if you did not already enjoy it on PC

The main quality of Torchlight II is knowing how to deal with its qualities and limitations. While comparisons to the great classics of the genre are inevitable, the game manages to distinguish itself with identity and guarantees some good hours of fun, exploration and stylish destruction of hordes and more hordes of enemies.
