Sunset Overdrive delivers on everything they revealed in the E3 trailer. There's so much fun in this game. The script, the story, the weapons, the graphic color palette, the kinetic way you get around in the massive world, everything. I mentioned earlier I loved the freshness of this game, but I can sum it up better than that. Sunset Overdrive is the freshest game of the year, and if you aren't excited to play it then there will be tons of mundane repeaters coming out soon enough to keep you busy. For those of you looking for a little more than the norm, Sunset Overdrive is the game you've been waiting for.

Sunset Overdrive can't escape the fact that it's a harmless product of the machine it pretends to rage against. After all, it's hard to keep defiantly flipping the bird at authority and the conformity of comfortable adulthood when you're the middle-aged guy calling the shots and your milieu has become interchangeable from the culture at large it claims to be subverting. Squint hard enough and all that angry fist pumping looks an awful lot like an eager thumbs up for the status quo.

Sunset Overdrive is a pleasant refreshment of the sandbox genre. It borrows elements from different games, but it brings them in a combination we haven't had before.

In short, the experience is refreshing thanks to its fun mechanics and accessible gameplay. Breaking the fourth wall and interacting with the player almost all the time is his backbone and although the comparisons will not wait, the incredible graphics, the great humor and the addictiveness of parkour place Sunset Overdrive in the crosshairs of every car owner. Xbox One.

The action is over the top in a good way. Traveling around Sunset City is like a roller-coaster ride and the script will often take jabs at itself just to pull a chuckle or two out of you.Sunset Overdrive is arguably top dog at the moment and very much worth a buy. The game rarely feels like a try-hard, because it's lightheartedness allows for it not to be.. Never has there been a game that actually feels like a video game and not an attempt to be an overly serious or dark. As Game Fanatics, we wouldn't have it any other way.

The voice acting is superb as well, the comedic timing is spot on and the writing really doesn't put a foot wrong.

Sunset Overdrive delivers a fun, energetic mix of action and platforming, despite some narrative weaknesses and an overabundance of perks.

Sunset Overdrive is a great open world action adventure game that manages to impress through its rich environments, vibrant colors, and tongue-in-cheek attitude. While the missions are somewhat generic and the enemies are a bit cheap in their attacks, it's still an awesome investment for any Xbox One owner.

At least what they did copy, they did very well, and it wasn't so overpowering it marred any experience I had. The game never stopped surprising me with its parody and humor, and its insane combat never stopped being fun. Annoyances aside, this is the game for anyone itching for something that not only refuses to be taken seriously, it embraces its ridiculosity with open arms.

Sunset Overdrive is just what the Xbox One needed - a distinctive exclusive to set the thing apart from the PlayStation 4. Titanfall was adequate and the Forza games are great for racing fans, but Sunset Overdrive is a glorious breath of fresh air.

What Sunset Overdrive was shooting for was punk. Where it landed was mallternative.

It's a good 20 or so hours of blue-sky fun with enough distractions to keep you playing for a good while, even if the replayability is, sadly, almost zero.

Want to know how to make a truly great game? Provide players with a liberating and energetic method of traversal, create an eye-popping urban environment that serves as a massive playground, and do everything you can to promote uninhibited fun within that space. That's the essence of Sunset Overdrive, and it's why we think this is arguably the best new IP so far this console generation.

Sunset Overdrive brings the fun. Though Insomniac's inexperience with open-world games leads to inconsistent mission design and a few oversights, its infectious energy, breathtaking traversal, silly weapons and violently colourful playground make for a brilliant way to blow off steam.

Sunset Overdrive proves that Insomniac's signature brand of gameplay and humor can work well in big, open worlds. The guns feel different and are fun to use, and the game gives you plenty of opportunities to use those weapons. The flexibility in mobility opens up the game for both horizontal and vertical gameplay, and the combination of this and the guns, along with some good level design, encourages creativity. Coupled with a great presentation, it provides an open-world experience with more emphasis on fun than anything else. For action fans, Sunset Overdrive is a must-have title.

Sunset Overdrive has a lot going for it, with just a little holding it back. It's not perfect, but it is a wonderful addition to the Xbox One library which is growing vastly with new IP's.

It might not offer much over the Xbox One original, but this remains one of the developer's best games and one of the best open-world games ever, with a traversal and fighting system that is both fast and smooth, and with world and mission design that focuses on gameplay first.

This is the best Xbox One exclusive to date, although competition is a bit slim in that category ('Dead Rising 3' made the jump to PC this year). It reminds me a lot of 'Saint's Row IV', 'Borderlands', 'Jet Set Radio', and even 'Crackdown', and the combination of a self-effacing world and move-or-die gameplay makes it the rare open world treat. While the crowded release schedule this fall may divert attention from it, it is absolutely worthwhile.

While Sunset Overdrive's PC port is essentially great news for fans of the game, it does cut corners in some noteworthy areas, thus preventing it from offering the definitive experience.

Pure insanity and madness, combined with Jet Set Radio - that's what I'd describe this game to my friends. I had so many people watching me play this game and the most common reaction was: "I have no clue what you are doing, but man does this look fun!" This pretty much sums up most part of this game: It feels like Insomniac Games just built a giant sandbox full of colors and added as many "Wouldn't-it-be-totally-crazy-if"-ideas as possible. This is pure anarchy as a game with some of the best punkrock music and a great artstyle seen in a long time. There's so much to do and such great humor that you nearly forget that most parts of the game start to get pretty repetitive at times.
