New Super Lucky's Tale Reviews
New Super Lucky's Tale is a massive improvement over the original and it shows. Between accessible levels and colorful designs, it's a game that is easy to enjoy. Sure, there are times when it feels too easy or the performance starts to dip but that doesn't take away from the rest. So if you're looking for a classic 3D platformer that is just fun or something like this for your young one, it's hard to say no to New Super Lucky's Tale.
New Super Lucky's Tale on PlayStation 5 is a charming, polished and technically a remaster of the original game that benefits greatly from the console's capabilities. It may not offer surprises for those familiar with earlier versions but it delivers an uber‑fun gaming experience that is sorely needed
New Super Lucky's Tale is a delight to play, and I strongly encourage young and old alike to give it a try. Just make sure you are patient with loading screens...
New Super Lucky's Tale is the third installment of the Lucky's Tale series, with redesigned levels, creatures, and puzzles. This action-packed adventure is well suited to a younger audience and promises a 3D platforming adventure. Check out our review of this Playful Studios' newest game!
New Super Lucky’s Tale is a game that probably doesn’t need to exist, all things considered.
New Super Lucky’s Tale is better than its predecessor in many ways, but in some areas it falls short, mainly because of the hardware it’s running on.

New Super Lucky's Tale is a game right at home on a Nintendo console. Featuring bright and colourful environments in a charming world full of life, it draws you in from the offset for an adventure I enjoyed more than some of Mario's. Though slightly frustrating for its loading times, it puts forward a great debut for the adventurous fox on the Switch, and I can only hope to see more down the line.
Fun 2D/3D collect-a-thon revamped to 120 fps and 4K8.5
New Super Lucky's Tale is a great platform game for all ages. It has excellent gameplay and a great soundtrack. The biggest problem is its difficulty and maybe duration: besides being very easy (mainly for veterans of the 3D platform genre), the complete journey with 100% of the items does not take much time.

New Super Lucky’s Tale is one of my all-time favourite 3D platformers. It’s happy, colourful and engaging for players of all ages and the controls are as tight as can be. If you’re a fan of the genre, you simply have to pick this up and give it a go!
New Super Lucky's Tale is a charming and well done platformer. The number of moves you have may seem limited, since you learn nothing else in your journey, but the game does a good job of making sure you use all of the moves all of the time. The colorful look is aided by the general charm of the characters to create an experience where you're constantly grinning. It may be easy for genre veterans, and the load times can be annoying, but the short runtime ensures that the game doesn't overstay its welcome.
Easy enough for newcomers to just pick up and play, and providing just enough fun and familiar challenge for veterans of the genre.
Lucky himself might be unlucky to be such a boring character, but he is fun to play as, and gets to run around in charming worlds.
New Super Lucky’s Tale is a competent game but not one which will excite players.
It takes the fun original release and turns it into something pretty special. The Switch could be a fantastic new start for Lucky. Who knows, maybe he could have a crossover with another Nintendo fox someday. While the Switch has no shortage of great 3D platformers, New Super Lucky's Tale shouldn't be too far from the top of your list.
In a nutshell, New Super Lucky’s Tale will remind you of Nintendo’s flagship platformers. It plays really well too. The gameplay is fun in terms of traversal, while the same can’t be said for its combat. If you play games to immerse yourself in an interesting story, this game isn’t for you. It’s the type of game you or a younger family member will want to play on an easy morning. It’s nothing more and nothing less, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing for a game like this.
3D platformers don't get much cuter than New Super Lucky's Tale.
New Super Lucky’s Tale feels like the culmination of Playful Studios journey with the adventure. From its original release as Super Lucky’s Tale (back when the logo still had an apostrophe) in 2017 to now, New Super Lucky’s Tale has never looked better or played as well. There are technical shortcomings that still hold New Super Lucky’s Tale back in the past. But they are issues that shouldn’t persist in a game of this scope running on hardware as powerful as the PlayStation 5. As a fan of the genre, this game categorically delivers on the core platforming action and fun. It successfully obscures the unfolding cataclysm of humanity in the process, reminding us of the simple pleasure to be found in picking up coins as a cartoon animal in a cape. And for that New Super Lucky’s Tale gets the Thumb Culture Silver Award.
