Outdated and boring, Mosaic fails to deliver any interesting or thoughtful meaning --its clever structure is ultimately wasted.

Adventure titles that offer deep storytelling are some of my favorite experiences in the genre, and Mosaic had everything lined up to be truly special. Unfortunately, a little bit too much monotony, a control scheme you will be fighting throughout, and major performance issues make this a game that will have you looking for a way to alleviate your frustrations. Hopefully a patch comes to fix the performance issues in what could have been a fairly decent experience.

Like a lot of middling and so-so titles in years past, the "so-close" conclusion that something greater, more impactful — or at least enjoyable — has gone horribly amiss is always far more regrettable than an otherwise rotten-to-its-core excuse for a game.

A barbed look at today's society that lacks an end-product of sorts, Mosaic is a short experience that seems content with telling us what's wrong with our lives without really going any further than that. There's a vital message trapped within the game somewhere, but it never quite gets out, and the experience ends up being depressing rather than entertaining. That might have been what the developer was going for, but ultimately, it doesn't make for a particularly interesting video game.

Criticism without nuance of the consumer society and the deadly routine of the employee, Mosaic develops a style, a subject but remains an extremely harsh experience. Difficult to recommend it as a video game, its final form seems more suited to that of a short film, the interaction is already extremely limited.

Did you know that corporations are bad? That the drudgeries of adult life are soul-crushing?

Ultimately, the biggest problem is the technical hitches. During the game's two hours, we experienced two hard crashes, and the framerate was almost never stable. Despite such a short run time, this made the experience feel much longer than it should have.

Mosaic is a walking simulator and very tedious at that. Every day you need to lead pathetic human being from his home to work and watch as he marvels at simplest of joys. It's barely a game at all.

To be perfectly honest, I appreciate what the developers are attempting. However, Mosaic is pretty basic in its core gameplay mechanics. That’s kind of the point, illustrating the mundanity of the character’s life. But it also doesn’t make for the most enthralling experience.

Mosaic’s moving dioramas produce strong and memorable images of a dystopia that’s all too real. The gameplay, however, seems to miss the point.

Mosaic tries to send some positive signals towards one of the most important issues that modern human is facing right now, and it deserves credit for that; but in the meantime, the developers forgot that it is a video game and should be fun and entertaining, rather than being boring and dull.

Mosaic's strikingly beautiful aesthetic is not quite enough to overcome a frustrating core gameplay loop and buggy controls. Those with an affinity for great art design will find a lot to admire but those needing a mechanically compelling reason to keep playing will struggle with what is offered.

Mosaic, a game about loneliness, redundancy and the tormenting bleakness of everyday life that makes us akin to robots repeating pre-programmed tasks to keep society working. This is not meant to be too harsh (or too kind) but Mosaic on the Nintendo Switch does manage to capture that void which seems to affect so many millions of humans in nearly every society on the face of the Earth. Pity that the way it behaves could not keep several errors and performance issues away, as the game often freezes and doesn't respond the way it would be expected to.

A game about breaking free from monotony that gets, perhaps inevitably, a little monotonous.

In short, finding the light in an apparently insignificant reality seems to be the pivot on which the whole experience revolves. The initial disorientation will gradually leave room for surprise, marveling at small everyday things which, although always present, are often clouded by a routine in which control and rules apply.

Do you ever walk through life feeling like it's mostly full of mundane repetition and tasks that lack in fulfillment? In Mosaic your main character is trapped in such a situation, moving through his day surrounded by grey blandness...

Mosaic is an interactive story that puts us in the shoes of a worker who is tired of his life. In the form of a virtual walk, he will tell us a story in which we will guide our character. In spite of its goodness and the attraction of its approach, it ends up being a bit monotonous and repetitive, so that we do not manage to connect completely with the story or the protagonist. The gameplay is restricted to walking and nothing else, seasoned with some mini-games that despite being fun, do not get to hook completely. Fans of the walking simulator will enjoy it quite a lot.

A humorously derisive examination of modern society in game form, Mosaic is an enthusiastic dive into pointlessness—occasionally too much for its own good.

Mosaic a gorgeous little slice of dystopian hell-life, for what that’s worth. It just… doesn’t bring anything new to the table.
