Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is the typical game of Z Warriors that could bring emotional feelings to the fans with nice graphics and explosive battles, but even the nostalgia couldn't save it from the repetition.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is our favorite Dragon Ball game ever made alongside the awesome FighterZ, but there is a room for improvements.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot isn't a bad game as much as it's a boring one. Turning the series into an open-world RPG seemed like an interesting challenge, but the game goes about that challenge in the dullest way possible. Putting effort into the series' highlights and dismissively padding out everything in between.

All in all, while Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot doesn’t really do anything new “overall”, it’s still an amazing time because of the way that everything has been put together. Those new to the series and long time fans alike have plenty to find and enjoy, as the pacing is just right to both let you relive some of the iconic fights of the series, and just live a little with your favourite characters.

It's just not particularly interesting to play through. There's certainly some enjoyment for fans to latch onto, but it's hard to say if that's enough when the game feels skin-deep in its appeal.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot will help the newcomers to experience all of the iconic battles of the anime, or will remind old fans how great they were. However, empty open world, useless RPG elements and a bunch of unnecessary gameplay mechanics weigh this game down.

Dragon Ball Z:Kakarot might not be "the best" Dragon Ball Z we ever played, but it's definitely one of the best of series in years. Due to tons of various contents in the game, Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot can takes you to a long entertaining journey. Although it seemed extremely difficult at first, developers somehow managed to tell the story of the anime (which is extremely long) in a single game which is impressive. The only real issues with the game are lack of depth and complicity in gameplayand repetitive combat encounters. Either you are fan of series or just want to play a beautiful anime game, Dragon Ball Z:Kakarot is a good choice for you to try.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is a solid Dragon Ball Z game that is dragged down largely by a lack of polish in some areas. The combat system is probably too repetitive, and the content is too shallow to be of much interest to non-fans, but it's the Dragon Ball Z game that fans have dreamed of as kids. It doesn't matter if it's punching Frieza or playing baseball; the game captures the spirit of Dragon Ball extremely well, even if the gameplay doesn't always keep up.

Kakarot is still one of the best Dragon Ball Z games ever made, but here’s hoping that an eventual Dragon Ball Super game in the same action RPG vein is far more refined.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is a fantastic avenue for new and casual fans alike, providing a deeper level of insight and immersion into a beloved franchise. However, more seasoned veterans of the series may not be as easily impressed. Fluid, fast, and visually stunning combat combined with some intriguing ideas gives Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot plenty to root for, but it still doesn't feel as fleshed out and creative as its Xenoverse cousin.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is the ultimate telling of Son Goku legend. It is an experience designed to please generations of fans, that will certainly enjoy all the content available. In general, the battles against the final bosses are awesome, but somehow the experience feels empty, tedious and unnecessarily long.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is a fresh way to experience the fantastic and lengthy tale of Dragon Ball Z. Providing you the opportunity to traverse many of the key environments from the show, experience new points of view and has a shared focus when it comes to its lead playable characters. It’s not without some flaws but if you’re looking for a new way to experience the story and the idea of a Dragon Ball game with customisable RPG mechanics has you interested, then there’s a lot for you to like here with Kakarot.

It is clear that the update significantly improves the experience and anyone interested in playing the game on a new generation console or wants to make the jump having already played on an older console, will be pleased with the result.

The improved framerate alone makes this next-gen version of Kakarot the ideal way to play the game, but considering the original build came out three years ago, you may have already played it to death. It’s still getting DLC, sure, but it’s the same old Kakarot. You need to either love it to death or have never played it before to fully enjoy this brand new version. It’s still a repetitive game full of padding and pointless filler, sure, but it’s also a phenomenal celebration of the anime, and pretty good action RPG in its own right.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is a solid game for anyone looking for some nostalgia thanks to a great retelling of the anime's story. The game gets repetitive though and relies too much on forced RPG-elements that don't add that much to the overall experience.

Does that mean Kakarot is worth playing all the way through if you already know Dragon Ball Z? It's impossible personally to speak from the perspective of someone who's new to the material, but as someone who holds the series in high regard, Kakarot is worth the experience, even if it's tedious at times. It's best broken up into multiple play sessions, just as the game provides intermissions as opposed to barreling through the story to avoid getting burnt out. Even if it doesn't get everything right, it's a tremendous effort and will hopefully pave the way for more innovative Dragon Ball Z experiences.

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot features flashy gorgeous combat and tells the most detailed version of the original storyline yet but a lifeless open world and useless RPG mechanics hold it back.
