It's a little disappointing that the developers didn't take this opportunity to tackle some of the superfluous stuff that is at odds with the better elements, and I've yet to be won over by the new narrative arc and whether it does anything to actually build on what was already a perfectly dense work. However, the core of the game is that powerful that the main reason to buy into this - that visual re-working - is more than enough to be worthwhile in itself.

2020 is the perfect opportunity to relive a reconstructed classic in great detail. A legend adapted to the needs of veterans and new players that everyone should play. This is Xenoblade Chronicles as it should have been from the beginning.

Overall, Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition lives up to its name. The changes are almost universally for the better by taking an excellent game and smoothing out the faults, flaws, and weak points while providing additional content. Considering Xenoblade Chronicles was one of the best JRPGs of the last console generation and arguably one of the best JRPGs of all time, this improves upon an already outstanding title. Fans of the original and newcomers alike should find Definitive Edition a wonderful way to experience Xenoblade Chronicles at its best.

Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition makes one of the best RPGs even better, despite not spreading its improvements evenly over the whole package.

Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition isn’t going to blow anyone away, but it’s undoubtedly the best version of a very good JRPG.

A thoughtful update to a classic JRPG that brings it to a whole new audience. With a shiny lick of paint and some fantastic interface changes it's the best way to experience Shulk, Fiora and Reyn's epic adventure.

Regardless of the technical issues, bugs, and the unpleasing design choices, the experience itself is unique and dared to tackle philosophical and existential topics. I was sucked into a bizarre world, which In hindsight, should've been difficult to explore but the the developer made the point across brilliantly. The game is rich in its content and I've honestly experienced the best JRPG experience of this generation.

The fact that Xenoblade Chronicles’s Mechanics aged this well after 10 years, shows why a lot of people call it a Classic in the industry. The Remaster has many great improvements in a lot of places but falls short in the visual aspect. Its Extra Content is quite enchanting and in the end, it makes Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition truly the most complete and Definitive version of this game

Despite pulling my hair out on a certain boss towards the end of the game, this game is brilliant.

As a definitive remastering of the 2010 original, this makes an already amazing game even better. None of the changes we see are massively drastic but all-in-all they all complement each other to make this the best way to play Xenoblade Chronicles.

Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition is back in a beautified setting, with new systems and a specific epilogue. Is this the final release? We'll see in a decade, but I'd like to see this title on the Switch Pro XL 4K Edition in the right resolution and fluidity.

The Definitive Edition version features a new story section that acts like an extension package for the original game, and on the other hand, redesigning the interface allows new audiences to communicate well with the campaign system.

Despite not being a new JRPG, this is still a worthy game to experience that easily ranks among one of the best games released this year.

As part of a much larger story though, Xenoblade Chronicles Definitive Edition delivers finesse in all the right places. A truly polished port (or remastered version if you will), despite its handheld visuals, offering RPG fans a delightful 80+ hour adventure (90+ including Future Connected) and a taste of the Monado’s true power. As always, Xenoblade Chronicles remains one of the most tight-knit storylines of the franchise – and we can’t afford to lose sight of that.

Considered by many a masterpiece, the original Xenoblade Chronicles is not without flaws. Thankfully, the Definitive Edition addresses many of the issues. The story remains just as amazing, and with all the improvements of this release it elevates the game to new heights.

Despite being a decade-old game, the UI tweaks, visual upgrade and new content makes Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition as memorable as the original one, even if certain aspects of its mechanic haven't aged that well.

Each action has its own cooldown before you can activate it again and with the ability to choose up to eight Arts for each character you take into battle, well, that's where the deep depth lies.

This Definitive Edition is the best version possible of one of the greatest JRPG of the last twenty years: do you need any other reason to buy it aside from this one? This is Takahashi at its best.
