The careful integration of culture mostly through writing and basic level design is really what makes the game really special. I’ve been putting off my first Japan trip for years, and now since I can’t travel, Persona 5 Strikers sort of scratches that itch.

Persona 5 Strikers packs quite a lot of content for a spin-off to the original (Persona 5). Offers some quality actions as its main gameplay ingredient, fans of the original title will truly appreciate this game and greatly recommend it to be added to their library. If action is not your go to genre, adjusting the difficulty will still allow you to enjoy all the contents, packed with detailed stories to uncover, which is very well woven together that you won't feel guilty with your lowered difficulty. This may be intended for all types of gamers to see the ending without much concern for progress. The story and gameplay isn’t the most traditional method of how the original Persona games were played, but it's definitely going to keep you seated for a good session for Persona fans all round.

Overall, it’s incredible to see how much of Persona is retained in Persona 5 Strikers. This truly is a sequel, even with the gameplay changes in effect. Sure, we can actually take our time now, but many of the core themes and ingredients of Persona 5 carry on to Strikers. While things can definitely get busy, it’s great to get another grand adventure with the Phantom Thieves.

Persona 5 Strikers is, rather than a spin-off, a direct sequel that fans of the original shouldn't overlook. It's a bit more complicated for the newcomers, but an interesting story and well-made combat, albeit with some mishaps, make this a quality time even for them.

It is not fair for me to say that Persona 5 Strikers is just a cookie-cutter musou with a Persona skin. It is a whole lot more.

Challenging the Musou part to fit in rather than the other way around, this game manages to catch even someone like me, a lifelong Musou evangelist, off guard. I’m here for it, at least in this specific moment.

It takes what Age of Calamity did for Breath of the Wild (or at least tried to), and makes good on it. It does great honor to its original game, fixes its flaws, and, for me at least, does everything better. It ends up being to me, what Persona 5 seems to be to everyone else. I wouldn’t say it’s my favorite MegaTen game, but it’s damn close.

While newcomers to the series will frequently find themselves lost if they choose to pick up Persona 5 Strikers, those familiar with Persona 5 will find this game to be an unexpectedly near-perfect sequel, making a strong case for more Persona games as action RPGs. Though its story may retread some familiar territory and combat can get a little predictable, this another stylish, emotional, exciting, and fun outing with the Phantom Thieves. With layered combat, outstanding characters (both new and old), and multiple systems to help customize your playstyle, Strikers is a triumphant return for the Trickster and his team. By the time the credits rolled, I was sad to say goodbye to these characters again—but I was so, so grateful to get one more ride with them.

Persona 5 Strikerstakes the RPG elements and fast-paced combat of Warriors games and fuses them together to create a worthwhile sequel that will please fans of both games.

If you've downed Persona 5 and Persona 5 Royal and maybe even Persona 5: Dancing in Starlight and still want more of the Phantom Thieves in your life, Persona 5 Strikers should absolutely be your next stop. Even without an overwhelming need to play it simply to see more of these characters, it still manages to be a solid video game with stylish art and action. That "action" doesn't always line up with the expectation of what a Persona title is and can be, but for a spinoff, it lands its beats more often than not. And it's not even the rhythm game.

There may be slight niggles here and there, but for the most part, Persona 5 Strikers is yet another smash hit in a franchise full of some of the greatest JRPGs out there.

It would be a mistake to dismiss Persona 5 Strikers as a mere spin-off. Although the battle system is definitely different to a typical Persona game, Strikers delivers an experience that fans of the series will love; perhaps even more than Persona 5 itself.

Blending an engaging and often thought-provoking narrative with combat that flirts with both strategy and chaos but always remains fun, Persona 5 Strikers is quite simply one of the best action RPGs I’ve ever played.

Despite that I can't deny how much fun I had with the gameplay, and I'm probably going to end up replaying it on PC for the chance to enjoy it in surround sound (another feature the Switch version weirdly lacks). For as much as the story disappointed me it just wouldn't be true to say I don't like Persona 5 Strikers. I like it a lot, and I felt really happy with it when I finally finished it. It's a game that I want to recommend, but that recommendation has to come with a big caveat: if you're a Persona fan that loves the Phantom Thieves but you're just not interested in the gameplay, it may be more worth your time to just play Persona 5 again.

I expected Persona 5 Strikers to be like Hyrule Warriors and got a genuine Persona sequel. It might be thinner on content than the 100-hour behemoth it is based on, but it's still plenty of fun to play. The combat system takes some getting used to, but otherwise, it's like slipping on a comfy pair of well-worn slippers. I welcome the chance to revisit the world of Persona 5, and Strikers is a wonderful send-off to the Phantom Thieves.

Koei Tecmo has somehow crafted not only a genuine sequel to Persona 5, the JRPG, but the team has managed to equal it. Or – if action combat is your thing – perhaps even exceed it. That is no mean feat.

Persona 5 Strikers surely suffers from pointless dialogs and bloated length, but despite that it is a pleasant action flick.

Persona 5 Strikers shakes up the formula a bit but still manages to feel like a full-on sequel to one of this past generations best JRPGS. While it is missing some of the more in-depth social elements that fans of the series love, it still manages to make itself unmissable thanks to another captivating story starring the Phantom Thieves. The characters still get to shine, the combat system smartly borrows some Musou elements while still feeling like Persona, and it’s all just as visually stylish and pleasing to the ears as you would expect. If you call yourself a fan of Persona 5 then you’d be doing yourself a disservice by missing out on Persona 5 Strikers.
