Final Fantasy 7 Remake Intergrade is an amazing but very pricey upgrade to a game that quite rightly got our Game of the Year 2020. Graphically, the difference this time around is notiacable and the brand new DLC is a fresh new look an an adventure we've played out many times before.

Intergrade continues the legacy of Final Fantasy VII with some great new content, but those coming from the PS4 version will have less to celebrate about.

It's not an essential DLC or extra content that makes great revelations, but Episode INTERmission will meet with the favor of many fans, especially thanks to one last part that recovers a little compared to the other three-quarters who know to fill. The expansion is exosive for the content it offers, so we feel like recommending it only to those who really don't want to miss anything about the reinterpretation of the most popular Final Fantasy.

Intergrade's Episode Yuffie may be short, but it's a significant step up in Remake's storytelling and renews my faith in the remaining chapters.

Although Episode INTERmission doesn’t build much on Final Fantasy VII Remake‘s story, instead being mostly its own diversion, it’s an excellent excuse to revisit Midgar. Not that we need an excuse when it looks as fantastic as this. Yuffie makes an excellent protagonist; her combat is fast-paced and dynamic, and her straight-faced sidekick Sonon is the ideal antidote to her loveable but in-your-face personality. It may only be short, but there are plenty of side activities to keep you busy. Essentially, if you have Final Fantasy VII Remake and a PS5, then this DLC is not to be missed.

For $19.99 USD, there is not enough here to make Final Fantasy VII Remake: Intergrade – Episode: INTERmission worth it. Yuffie is incredibly fun to play as, and has so much utility on the battlefield; but her time in the sun is extremely short lived. The bonus scene at the end is not worth the the price of admission, and will only frustrate fans of the real Final Fantasy VII.

Hopefully there will be fewer re-releases or updated ports of the inevitable Part 2, and Square Enix can make the game as good as it can be the first time. It’s appreciated that owners of the vanilla game get the PlayStation 5 upgrade for free; it would have been even better if this was the game that was released the at the beginning.

The long and short of it is that FFVII Remake Intergrade is a truly excellent game, and it plays brilliantly on the Nintendo Switch 2. Having such an excellent port of an excellent game to play on the go more than justifies a second purchase of it.

Final Fantasy VII: Remake Intergrade was an incredible game when it came out, and it has aged wonderfully well. There isn't much new material in Remake Intergrade for those who've already played it, but the handheld mechanics offer a nice way to casually replay the game. The core gameplay is as fun as ever, the characters are still tremendously likable, the music is phenomenal, and it's absolutely worth playing if you're remotely a fan of the franchise or RPGs in general.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade arrives on Switch 2 with a confidence that immediately sets it apart from the competition, delivering an experience that feels both ambitious and assured from the moment the journey begins. The result is a version that feels consistently engaging, impressively cohesive, and far more polished than many would expect from such a lavish production running on a portable system. This release stands as a testament to what a thoughtful adaptation can achieve, proving that scale and spectacle need not be sacrificed for accessibility. A beloved classic has been reimagined once more, and the hard work gone into it ensures that its magic remains undeniable on Switch 2.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade on Nintendo Switch 2 delivers a surprisingly strong portable experience. While limited to 30 fps and showing occasional performance dips, the game looks great on the console's screen and includes all major content, including the Yuffie episode. It's an excellent option for players who want to experience one of Square Enix's most ambitious RPGs anywhere, even if it's not the definitive technical version.

This is a game that bounces from deathly serious climate disasters and tragedy to crossdressing dance sequences and fighting demonic houses. Final Fantasy VII Remake is a deeply weird game, but it's a deeply weird game with awesome combat, wonderful writing, incredible music, and a joyously baffling story. In the process of this bizarre journey to a remake of a classic, Square Enix also created one of the best Final Fantasy games of the last 30 years.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is a stellar product, one that has a magnificent soundtrack, superb voice acting, wonderful graphics, and a battle system that is totally moreish. The plot is initially quite zany, but stick with it, and the characters and events certainly do grow to be one of the finer video game stories developed. On PlayStation 5 it loads incredibly fast, almost wiping out any load times at all, and having gameplay look so good at 60fps will delight many. The path that is trodden feels incredibly linear, at points repetitive and reused, not that this is a crime. It is easy to spend over 50 hours on the first run, including the DLC, and this isn't even the entirety of the original game which shows a great value. Fans who already played through the PlayStation 4 version may not get too much out of this experience, but for newcomers this is certainly a must play.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade is a complete package, telling the story of Midgar from two different perspectives. Both the main campaign following Cloud and his journey, and Yuffie's own adventure, are well told with tight and responsive gameplay along with an impressive graphical update. These tales each leave exciting questions to be answered, and this reviewer can't wait to see what awaits Cloud and his friends beyond the City of Mako.

Final Fantasy Remake Intergrade is technically impressive. Fixing many of the original release's technical issues while also improving the game for next-gen hardware. INTERmission offers an excellent character edition with that of Yuffie with some excellent gameplay to boot. Intergrade is simply more of the best parts of Final Fantasy VII Remake.

The game looks so good on PS5 that I was happy to visit Midgar for the second time. And a successful DLC from Yuffie adds a few hours of equally good content with a beautiful animation introducing the upcoming second episode of the adventure.
