Death's Door is an isometric action adventure game. Thanks to its inspired art direction and well-balanced experience, Death’s Door is simple, linear and funny from the beginning to the end.

Overall, Death's Door is a success. It's a short but entertaining and combat-heavy Zelda-like action-adventure that is only limited by scope. It might not have the most memorable puzzles or dungeons, but it has enough heart and skill to make up for its few, minor missteps.

In so many ways, Death's Door is the high end indy title to a tee. It's extremely polished, very creative, terrific for shorter sessions, but lacks a little in depth. Still, it's hard not to recommend Death's Door for fans of the action-adventure, Zelda genre and/or someone looking for something truly different for the Switch. Just note it can be a visual struggle when played in the Switch's portable fashion.

Death’s Door is an excellent action-adventure gem, balancing solemnity with laughs and moderate difficulty alongside forgiving mechanics. Its combat is pure and satisfying, and the light-RPG elements make progression enjoyable. What I admired most, though, is how all of these elements work in tandem as Death’s Door offers an adventure that feels fresh. From the exquisite environments and discoverable upgrades/collectibles to the delightful characters, you won’t wanna miss out.

Death's Door boils modern action-adventure game design down to its fundamentals, and the reduction is excellent.

Death's Door is a delightful isometric action adventure, graced by an inspired art direction and tight controls. Another indie gem from the masters at Devolver Digital.

Fast-paced combat, incredible visuals and you also get to play as a cute crow. Perfect for players who want a Zelda-like experience on PC.

Death's Door is all around professional. It's incredibly polished, well crafted with sound mechanics, and for the most part, it's a blast to play. I just wish the game surprised me more often. I wish it had something new to say, something different to offer. Everything else is so damned good and I don't want to come off as negative at all. I just felt that this great game was a few pieces away from being an all-time classic. Either way, it's easy to recommend spending some time knocking on Death's Door.

Death's Door is not absurdly exceptional in terms of the inventiveness and originality of its gameplay concepts, especially exploration and combat, but Acid Nerve knew how to use the references that already existed in the genre very well to create a product with enough identity to stand out on its merits. themselves.

Death's Door uses the classic Zelda template to a great extent, but it doesn't really offer anything new. But what is there is precisely crafted.

Death’s Door breathes some life into the generalized umbrella of action-adventure titles thanks to its efficient level design coupled with simple to grasp yet enjoyable mechanics. While a few factors, such as the ranged skill usage bar, are questionable in execution, the game’s flow and pace are never significantly hindered from ruining the experience as a whole. Furthermore, the dreary thematic tones exuded by the loneliness of the varied explorable sections alongside the appealing characterizations and dialogue also serve to make Death’s Door an assuredly exceptional time for those feeling even remotely curious.

For me, the highlight of the game was the door-based battles, which had waves of enemies teleporting in more open space. Even when I died I wanted to get back to them quickly to try out new strategies (more doges are always a great idea). Death's Door offers a good mix of combat and exploration but needs a few more systems to keep gamers interested to make progress and find everything the game has to offer.

Overall, Death’s Door is an enjoyable homage to 2D Zelda games with some additional quirky flair thrown in. It is a satisfying experience whose main drawback is its overall safeness, plus a lack of replayability. Some may also be turned off by the lack of extreme difficulty, which can be another source of replay value for many similar games. I would recommend Death’s Door to those looking for a nostalgia fix that won’t try your patience or just want to enjoy a memorable and contemplative audiovisual style.

An Action RPG full of passion that focuses on simplicity and, for this reason, it is incredibly solid. Level design, attention to detail, art style and soundtrack deserve just applause. Ok, it throws you in an huge labirint without any map, but it can be even a good thing.

Overall Death’s Door is a fantastic experience. One that will inevitably be a nice indie console exclusive score for Xbox. If you can get past two or three challenging parts, what’s there is an adorably comical game that will never hold your hand. If Xbox is your only platform of choice, you may not have a Breath of the Wild but, here is your Link's Awakening.
