Kirby and the Forgotten Land Reviews
Truth be told, Kirby has lacked an essential game throughout his entire history, despite being one of the most recognizable video game mascots around. While Kirby and the Forgotten Lands may not quite be up there with the greats of the genre, it’s an incredibly pleasant experience with a great degree of thoughtfulness put into it, from the charming touches littered throughout its overgrown and unkempt world, through to its unabashed emphasis on fun as best evidenced in its hub world. This is a great Switch exclusive for players of all skill levels.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land makes Kirby's jump to 3D feel effortless, but it's much more than that, with the vibrantly styled decaying world to explore and the Mouthful Modes that will have you laughing with each new one that's discovered.
Kirby and The Forgotten Land more than meets my expectations by offering innovation and fun throughout the adventure. Its environment open to exploration together with its mini-games, puzzles and cooperative mode, extend the experience in a satisfactory way. This ambitious installment from Nintendo and HAL Laboratory will please both diehard fans of the saga, as well as new to it.

The predictable formula of Kirby games accounts for part of their appeal. Think of it as comfort food. Case in point: My first Kirby game was 2000’s “Kirby and the Crystal Shards” for the Nintendo 64. Now, 22 years later, I’m fighting the same enemies with many of the same abilities I did back then. “Kirby and the Forgotten Land” throws in some new elements to keep things fresh, and it executes them well for the most part. But it still feels like coming back to a familiar place and feeling like you never left, which is exactly what I, like many others, find endearing about the series.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land may not be the revolution some were expecting, but it is still a great platform game. We love the new transformations, setting, and lots of extras and minigames.

I came in expecting a very serviceable Kirby adventure and got a lot more, but with those same straightforward and effortless virtues that past games have commanded.
One of the best Kirby games ever made and while the formula hasn't changed as much as it first seems it's also one of the most enjoyable co-op titles of recent years.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a charming platformer filled with intuitive puzzles, a genuinely intriguing world, and hysterical transformations that always made me smile.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is one of, if not the best, Kirby games ever made.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is fun, relaxing, and challenging all at once. Kirby's first major leap into 3D is an incredible success, with new mechanics and altered gameplay providing a familiar-yet-unique experience for any fan of the series. Forgotten Land provides incredible foundations for the future of 3D Kirby games, and one can only hope that HAL will continue to build upon them.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a truly magical game that amounts to what could be the best franchise entry in decades. Even if its level themes and puzzle elements call back to concepts longtime fans will have seen before, the execution is charming and polished to an absolute shine. The oddities of Mouthful Mode alone are well worth the price of admission. If you can overlook linear levels and occasionally forced backtracking, this might be one of the best games of 2022 so far.
Overgrown theme parks feature in this kid-friendly, cinematic romp through a cutesy wasteland
The new title on the Nintendo Switch marks the first time Kirby has starred in a 3D game, but does it measure up to his past highs?
The platforming won’t give Mario any restless nights, but the exuberant creativity around it makes for a bold, buoyant adventure.
Flush with a gorgeous and uplifting soundtrack, Forgotten Land is a heart-warming and no-stress experience while providing some fun challenges and deeper upgrades should you want them. Either way, this is a must-have game and yet another instant Nintendo classic that's not only warmly familiar, but also subtly inventive in a way that'll keep you hooked until the end.
With Kirby and the Forgotten Land, the pink hero makes his debut in a real 3D world. Still, everything feels oddly familiar — for better or worse. Imaginative gameplay and colorful graphics are combined with a low difficulty level and a set-up that relies heavily on secrecy. But when the negative parts weigh so lightly, it's not hard to enjoy one of the best platformers since Super Mario Odyssey.

Overall, Forgotten Land is just a great time with a mix of genuine challenge and simple fun. Like most Kirby games, I don’t think Forgotten Land is going to set the world on fire but it’s really good. Like a favorite blanket, Kirby is always a joy to come back to and I’m really glad I played Forgotten Land.
Kirby and the Forgotten Land is a very good game, hampered by a disappointingly easy gameplay and a short longevity for those not interested in its secrets. Not looking for them would be a pity, though, because the search greatly enhances an only apparently linear level design thanks to the explosive creativity that Hal Laboratory masters like few developers can.
