Stray is a charming 'cat adventure' that succeeds in making us identify with the little feline protagonist and in making us experience its beautiful from the point of view of this agile creature. The interesting story could have had a better ending and some sections are a little too tiring or repetitive, but if you like original and different titles, and especially if you love cats, this is definitely a game to try.

Stray reminds of the good old adventure games with puzzles and little sandbox sections. Besides the cute protagonist, you're gonna love the other characters and their stories.

Stray is an average game, a fairy tale about a missing kitten who wants to return to the surface. The scripted parts are also its strongest and most effective narratively, while the open areas feel much less focused. All in all, Stray is a simple, enjoyable game. Great for those looking for a nice adventure and a bit of social criticism.

Stray is as good a weekend binge as any, even if it failed my little cat-owner heart or made me grimace over rice paddy hats. As a video game, Stray is far from perfect, but as a cat-riding-in-a-bucket simulator, it’s pretty incredible.

Stray is a short but sweet adventure game that will warm your heart. Few titles meld puzzles, world-building, and well-written characters so harmoniously. Though Stray is rough around the edges, it's a promising first title from BlueTwelve Studios with so much to appreciate. If you're in the market for a relaxing title with an adorable protagonist, invest in Stray, the cutest release of 2022. Come for the cat; stay for the adventure!

In Stray you are not a human or a monster, but a cute cat. Move in a humanless world in which you as a cat have to find your way back to your friends. Stray is breathtakingly beautiful and you will be amazed at how cute this game is. There could have been just a little more in it, for example by being able to change the appearance of your cat itself to your own cat, for example. Nevertheless, Stray is a fantastic game and well worth playing. If only because of that magical feeling that you play as a cat.

While Stray is an extremely short game, it uses its runtime to tell a great story from an extremely unique perspective.

Stray is the perfect game to rest. Be in a trance and let yourself be guided by the path in front of you. The game does not ask its player to put himself in a stressful situation. This is not too much in a world where there are many sources of stress and conflict. The puzzles are relatively easy for young and old alike. Well, we agree that if the game asked us to embody a dog it would be even better. Who knows, maybe the idea is already germinating in the studio's head. For now, we'll just purr and bend our backs. And let's not forget the nap. I like naps.

Stray is a serious vibe from start to finish, and it’s not interested in being a loud, in your face blockbuster type of game. It is paced exactly as you want it to be; it’s often quiet, sometimes contemplative, occasionally meandering (as in carefree, not distracted), but never dull. It’s an adventure, and there is purpose to it, but more than anything Stray wants you to just be there and experience what it has to offer. Frankly, this might be too laid back for some; there certainly isn’t high drama to be found, or even massive stakes to compel you forward, and while you can blitz through it quickly, in doing so you’d miss a lot. Stray offers something for curious at heart, an exploratory adventure with lots of joy to be had, and to get the most out of it you’ve really got to take it at a cat’s pace.

"Stray" had inspired the imagination of many players with his first attempts as "HK Project". The bottom line is that the final product feels far more familiar and generic than you might have hoped for from the first pictures. Nevertheless, "Stray" has its strengths, especially in the level design and in the atmosphere that it builds up again and again through great graphics and music. Playfully, the work moves rather on the easy side and offers experienced players hardly a challenge. But that's not what this is about anyway. "Stray" wants to take you into a world that is dirty and broken, and shows you again and again the bright spots of hope and the beauty that lies hidden.

Cats are not generally known for their heartwarming personalities, but that’s exactly what makes Stray so poignant.

Stray is more than a cute cat Simulator, bolsting an interesting narrative and a world that's great to explore, although some finicky platforming holds it back from feeling fully realized.

A wanderer cat In a gloomy and high-tech world is like a fairy tale and realistic imaginations combined. With a unique tone and a relatively short journey, each and every corner of the alley develops its own story to keep it extraordinarily interesting. With just the fact of maneuvering a life-size cat in a human world scale is already a fun feat, actions that can happen in our everyday lives but only if you were to live it or witness it as these many but little moments usually never catch our attention on a daily basis. This game creates that portal in which you are now able to see what happens in the blindspot as a usual experience. It may feel like a quiet and stealthy journey but gradually creates a deep and pulsating experience that shakes our hearts like a wind chime that resonates in every silent atmosphere.

Stray gets so much right about being a cat. It's not just the way you travel through the world. There are moments when you stop to rub your side against someone's legs. You can press a button to scratch the carpet and there are even a couple of puzzles that make smart use of this ability. The way you stretch out one paw to tentatively bat at a suspicious object or how you curl up on a cushion in the perfect pretzel… it's just so exquisitely, believably cat-like.
