Soulstice is a Hack 'N Slash that draws its strength from combat. The visuals are mediocre and the game often has fixed camera angles. In between fights it sometimes feels quite empty and monotonous. Fortunately, this is fully compensated with the brutal action that makes you feel like a real badass.

Soulstice is a blast from the past. It looks like something from 2000s, but feels fresh among dozens of souls-likes.

Soulstice is a beautiful hack 'n slash that falls short in areas such as world building, pacing, level design, and art direction. However, it establishes a shared combat and exploration system between two characters in one that, by itself, makes it surprising and challenging.

Combining a well-realized dark fantasy setting inspired by Claymore and Berserk and an engaging story with solid action gameplay inspired by some of the best character action games, Soulstice is a competent action title. Unfortunately, issues like the horrible camera and the mediocre handling of color-coded enemies and mechanics impact the experience, preventing it from being the great character action game it had the potential to be.

Soulstice etches its own namesake in the hack n' slash genre. While it lacks the same level of combat depth and demand, it focuses more on narrative quality, accessibility, and presentation to reach success.

Soulstice turned out to be a good stylish action game, with a solid combat system embellished with good ideas, able to tell its excellent protagonists, Briar and Lute, both through the battle and with the cutscenes. The story of Ilden's veil torn above the sky is intriguing, with beautiful twists and a well-studied mythology, it is therefore a pity that the setting is not able to sustain this charm, despite the very good basic technique, trapped in a artistic direction that is often too generic and redundant.

Though it may seem like an homage to the famous japanese title, Soulstice is an action game with its own interpretation of the genre and gives a different type of joy. Its splendid visual and crisp action control enhance the overall experience. However, dizzy and limited point of views with repetitive backgrounds are the ones that hinder the immersion.

Soulstice gives a good challenge to veterans of the genre and is a good choice for beginners, in a mix between Devil May Cry and Berserk.

While the combat isn't quite as fluid as its big siblings, and the graphic style takes some time to get used to, at its core, Soulstice is a very good action game with a solid, albeit predictable, story.

In conclusion, Soulstice is an inspired, enjoyable video game with an engaging narrative. The Sacred Realm of the Keidas is a wonderful and untamed place, and Ilden is a wonderfully depicted city even in tragedy. With an interesting game design and an engaging combat system, Soulstice proves to be a mature work. A few technical stumbling blocks here and there are worth mentioning, but it is nothing that compromises the actual enjoyability of the experience, which remains well paced and enjoyable throughout.

Soulstice is truly one of the best games I've played this year. It does many things right but doesn't have any real weaknesses. It plays well, looks stunning and has a pretty decent story to keep you going until the end. It's easy to recommend to both fans who love hack and slash titles and those who don't usually play such games. Overall, Soulstice is a pleasant surprise that you don't want to miss.

Soulstice is a fantastic time and successfully emulates the glory days of the character-driven action genre, whilst also implementing some neat ideas of its own that make it stand out from the competition. Visually, it may not stack up to the best the genre has to offer, but when you are in the thick of the action, looking like a total badass thanks to the easy-to-learn, difficult-to-master combat system, you’ll be having so much fun that it becomes very easy to overlook Soulstice’s flaws.

Soulstice is a fun action game that shows just how powerful a sisterly bond can be. While there are flaws holding it back from being amazing, it gives an overall satisfying combat experience.

Reply Game Studios' goal has been hit: Soulstice is a respectable stylish action that deserves a place next to the "holy monsters" major exponents of the genre. Although it has it's flaws in the variety of environments, quality of storytelling and depth of plot, as a whole it manages to achieve a maturity, absolute solidity and personality that make it far worthwhile and appealing to all fans of the genre.

Soulstice absolutely works as a love letter to action games of the bygone PlayStation 2 era. Vitally, however, it does so without losing a clear identity of its own. Its combat system is unique in the way it asks players to actively monitor mechanics while also avoiding enemy attacks and dishing out flashy combos in true character action game fashion. Its boss battles leave quite a bit to be desired, and the level design may be a bit too narrow at points, but Soulstice manages to make up for these shortcomings with an emotional story and a unique brand of observation-based gameplay that ensures its status as a confident addition to the genre.

If you are a fan of hack and slash games, this is just the game for you until we hear about the next Devil May Cry entry. The story is a bit of a slow burn at the start, and while you have a good journey getting there, it is still a game that throws a lot for you to learn along the way. Soulstice is a near complete package of a game, but at times it can be overwhelming when you are controlling nearly 2 characters in some very heated moments of combat.

Soulstice combines a fascinating setting, two well-characterized protagonists, an engaging storyline and a gameplay that, albeit with a few smears, is capable of providing many hours of fun. It's not a perfect game, with the troublesome camera handling as its major flaw, but it's still a game that every lover of third-person action games should consider.

While the characters and story don't do enough to push it over the top, Soulstice delivers a great action game that just about anybody can enjoy.

Soulstice is a truly great action game, which despite taking many cues from stylish action titles of the past, carves out enough of an identity to stand out on its own. The system of controlling both sisters and maintaining auras while slashing through foes is intuitive and simple to master. Although the plot leaves many threads hanging, the development of the central sibling relationship and setting were enough to draw me into Soulstice's world and want to see more. If you're a fan of challenging action games and can forgive a slightly annoying camera, Soulstice is definitely worth checking out.

Soulstice is a dress shirt with a couple wrinkles, an action RPG that succeeds with some hiccups.
