A must-have sequel for those who played Trails from Zero. The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure is charming despite accusing the passage of time. Something that you will not take into account once you return to immerse yourself in its achieved world and plot of this dilogy accompanied by a combat that continues to feel stimulating.

Another gorgeous and generally rock-solid JRPG experience, though not terribly different from its predecessor

A JRPG that is everything with the sum of its predecessor installments. A story of action and mystery accompanied by a turn-based combat of the most classic and more than a cliché of the average fantasy anime. The result in a game with which it is difficult not to get attached if you have already played and enjoyed Trails from Zero.a saga.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure maintains the high quality of the series and presents a satisfying (but temporary) ending to the Crossbell arc, offering significant upgrades on PC and Switch compared to the original PSP version. The expectation now is to see how the tenth game in the series, Trails into Reverie, will make the most of the elements of this story and the Erebonia arc to offer a more conclusive resolution [to the current story] and kickstart the next adventures in the Zemuria continent.

Trails to Azure is another great Nihon Falcon title that adds a lot to the world of the Legend of Heroes Series. The two new additions to the SSS team are a perfect fit. Meanwhile, those who played previous entries will appreciate having a lot of their questions answered. Finally, just like Zero, Azure received a lot of great enhancements from its PSP version that make the game perfectly fine for today’s consoles.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure is a great turn-based JRPG that holds up exceptionally well against its modern competitors. The story and combat system are equally deep, allowing the game's bigger moments to carry players through a fair amount of combat repetition and prolonged narrative dumps.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure is like a time capsule for fans of classic JRPGs. From its retro aesthetic to its turn-based combat, it harkens to a time that some might consider the golden age of the genre. Granted, some might consider it dated. That would be a mistake, however, as The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure is one of the best renditions of old-school JRPGs at their finest. If you like classic JRPGs, you certainly can’t miss this one.

A high-quality translation and port that builds on the wonderful work done by a passionate community. Trails to Azure's story is impactful, but issues with its pacing can make it feel longer than it needs to be. Even so, this is still a great JRPG that fans of the genre would be silly to pass on.

Impressive efforts with a few noticeable problems holding them back. Won't astound everyone, but is worth your time and cash.

Trails to Azure is an easy recommendation, even if it’s an old game for $50. You just need to have played everything else, which admittedly is quite the undertaking in its own right.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure closes Crossbell's arc within The Legend of Heroes franchise and surpasses its previous installment, The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero, in practically everything, anyway you can't understand one without another and it is as recommended as necessary to play both. We finally have them here since their launch many years ago in Japan and we can only hope to see our heroes again in Trails into Reverie, the game that acts as an epilogue and union of the Crossbell arc and Trials of cold Steel.

Trails from Azure adds a few improvements from Zero, but it's consistency is what's most important. A griping story with great characters and a fun combat system makes Azure a game that shouldn't be missed.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure is one of the best RPGs I’ve ever played, and one of my favorite games in the Trails series. The thought provoking story is memorable, the characters look fantastic and are full of personality, the turn-based combat is polished, and the music is phenomenal. Trails to Azure absolutely lived up to the bar Trails from Zero set, and surpassed it with flying colors. I did run into a couple bugs, and there were some issues with the translation, but those were not enough to bring this one down too much. I highly recommend this game to fans of the franchise and RPGs. However, since this is a sequel, you should at least play Trails from Zero before getting into this one. Trails to Azure will set you back $39.99 digitally and $49.99 for a physical copy, and I say it’s worth every penny.

Years after its debut on PlayStation Portable, The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure gets a new home as comfortable as its original one. Not even the similarities to the previous title or the inevitable weight of age are enough to weaken a work that was inexplicably limited to Japan longer than it should. Fortunately, this is a victory — now, we wait for the rest of the Trails saga on Switch.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure is an incredibly strong RPG with phenomenal pacing, characters, and combat, but it also relies so much on the player’s connection to the previous game. I can’t in good conscience say anyone should play Trails to Azure without first playing Trails From Zero, but that’s exactly what makes the experience so special. The duology of Zero and Azure revels in sequential storytelling, building a convincing world filled to the brim with personality and political intrigue.

The Legend of Heroes: Trails to Azure continues the story of its predecessor while also polishing the gameplay. From its familiar gameplay to its retro style visuals, it has everything one could ask for in a JRPG.

undefined. It might be tempting to skip Trails to Azure, but even set apart from the exceedingly large franchise it's still another great RPG for the Switch. I'm looking forward to possibly replaying it with more knowledge of the events and try to take on more of the side content, since I had to take a hard critical path to get the review done. If I don't decide to fill in some of those Trails story gaps this spring….

The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Azure takes everything that's excellent about Zero and runs a marathon with it. It's one of the best-paced games in the series, with some of the best characters, best music, and easily the best setting. The Crossbell Arc is a hugely compelling two-parter that captures everything that makes the Trails series what it is perfectly, and Azure in particular deftly balances high-stakes drama, political intrigue, and poignant character moments. This is one Switch RPG we won't be feeling blue about anytime soon.
