Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp Reviews
The vast tactical system, well-designed maps, and great characters alone make Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp a must-have for any Switch owner.
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is an awesome strategy RPG that faithfully adapts Advance Wars and Advance Wars 2: Black Hole Rising into one delightful remake. The remake provides a lot of compelling content with addicting gameplay that will keep players busy for tens of hours. Although online functionality is somewhat limited, the single-player content makes Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp a hidden gem on Nintendo Switch in 2023.
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is a hefty and fun title. It's not only an essential purchase for gamers who have been dreaming of the series coming back, but also works extremely well as an introduction to gamers who may have missed out originally. If you've already had your fill of Fire Emblem and crave something similar or like the idea of the series but not its fantasy theme, Advance Wars has you covered. It has all the addictive charm of a Nintendo title with some great strategy gameplay. Sadly there isn't anything in terms of "new" content for returning die-hards and the graphics can be a little deceptive, but delay or not, this is another great experience.
Though Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp makes a couple odd calls, it’s primarily an enjoyable way to revisit some of the Game Boy Advance’s best tactics games. The 2D art is slick and the gameplay can devour your attention, though the lack of online matchmaking is a bummer. Regardless, if you’re itching for some tactical action with a fun setting, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is a strong choice.
Competing with Fire Emblem for the title of premier strategy game on the Nintendo Switch, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is a definitive combination of two cult classics.
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is simultaneously a triumph in preserving the timeless strategy gameplay of the past and a huge missed opportunity to give it a rejuvenated platform that could attract new players.
Wayforward's generous remake package keeps much of what made the original Game Boys titles great, with some significant improvements to presentation and multiplayer.
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is definitely a role model for full-price remakes, giving fans of the genre and series finally the best possible way to enjoy the games in question.

For those interested in easing into the turn-based strategy genre, or those with a lot of experience, Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is a strong option on Nintendo Switch. With two complete games in one, there's a lot of meat in the package, and that's not even factoring in the multiplayer options. WayForward has done a very nice job adhering closely to the Game Boy Advance originals, while offering enough tweaks to make it feel like this package was a better decision compared to putting the originals on Nintendo Switch Online. It's been a while since fans of the series have had a wholly-new game to enjoy, so hopefully this package will lead to more from Nintendo.
War has changed, and maybe we have, too. But that's not necessarily a bad thing.
I find myself conflicted with Advance Wars 1+2: Reboot Camp. On the one hand, it is essential. To this day, these are two of the finest tactical games of all time. On the other hand, there is no reason for this remake to exist when a re-release would have been sufficient. If it’s Nintendo’s way of exploring a revival of the franchise, that’s fantastic, and I hope it sells a bucketload. I just wish WayForward’s talents had have been deployed better.
The engrossing strategic gameplay of the Game Boy Advance entries remains as addictive and enjoyable now as they did all those years ago, a testament to the original developer’s well-crafted gameplay mechanics. The only problem is the limited online because being exclusive to your friends and not having a ranking/open matchmaking feature is a huge opportunity missed. The rest of the package in Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is an easy recommendation for anyone who wants to challenge their tactical know-how on the miniature battlefield.
Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp is a worthy remake of some of the best strategy titles around.
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is an incredible strategy title for the Nintendo Switch. While the gameplay can be monotonous at times, changing up how you play can easily absolve those issues.
A sleek, yet imperfect presentation coupled with dozens of single and multiplayer missions make Advance Wars 1 + 2 Re-Boot Camp engaging and addictive, for veterans and new recruits alike.
Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp brings back to life a series that has made the history of the genre and that the most loyal players missed.

Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp feels like catching up with an old friend and finding out that their best qualities remained intact over the years.
Advance Wars 1+2 Re-Boot Camp successfully resurrects Nintendo's terrific, turn-based tactics series by offering a generous package that nearly makes up for the 15-year wait.
Advance Wars 1+2: Re-Boot Camp is packed to the brim with content and has that addictive “just one more mission” feel. Though some may find the story to be unserious and shallow, it’s completely accessible and enjoyable to newcomers of the genre like myself while also providing depth and challenge for veterans. Enthusiasts will get hundreds of hours of entertainment out of the game.
While not quite living up to the “Advance” moniker in its title, Advance Wars provides a satisfying SRPG experience with its solid strategic combat and a wealth of content- making it a worthwhile addition to the library of any die-hard SRPG fan.
