It was great to play through the first Battle Network for the first time, and having these games available again as a whole. While I still have a GBA, I have only been able to get my hands on Battle Network 5 for it, and being an adult now, it’s hard to hold only for too long having much longer fingers. I’m glad I can sink hours upon hours into this series that I’ve always adored, but it’s even better people will be able to experience this series for the first time. These are definitely the definitive versions of these games, making it the ideal launching place for everyone else to get lost when you’re simply told “I wonder if someone can help” and you need to Google what the hell you’re supposed to be doing.

Despite having few new features, Megaman Battle Network Legacy Collection vol 1 is a perfect entry to revive this spinoff, although it hurts the lack of its Spanish translation.

If not for the still remaining translation quirks, I’d have been tempted to give this collection a perfect score. Mega Man fans have been clamoring for Battle Network’s comeback for a long time, and in almost every regard it was well worth the wait. Excellent online functionality and the restoration of lost content brings up each title featured to their definitive forms. With six RPGs featuring lots of content, it’s also an excellent value proposition. Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection is undoubtedly a collection done right.

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection is the latest in a series of quality collections of Capcom's most famous Maverick Hunter. In addition to introducing this fantastic Mega Man subseries to new audiences and generations of platforms, the existence of Patch Cards leaves a new legacy in the field of game anthologies.

For returning fans of Mega Man Battle Network, both volumes of the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection are sure to feed their nostalgia. On the flipside, they might be a harder sell on those who had no prior or little experience playing them due to how close they all stick to the formula and don’t do much to set themselves apart from each other. When put side-by-side with previous collections by Capcom, these sit at the lower end, although that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re bad. It’s just worth coming in with your expectations in check.

For a collection, Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection is one heck of a deal. Ten games, each being 10+ hours long, in one package?! That can’t be beaten. Plus, from a preservation perspective, this collection is great at making old GBA classics and one of my favorite series from Capcom, playable on modern consoles.

It's hard to really criticize anything in this collection. Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection offers everything a fan of the series could want: all the titles in the series, an online mode, some extra content and a more than acceptable visual quality. Obviously, if you're not a fan of the series, you might as well go on your way. But for those who are interested, this is a good buy and a good title to have in your collection.

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection is a pack with ten games that were some of the pioneers in mixing action and deckbuilding. Not only does it preserve the titles and gives them a new presentation for modern systems, it also makes an effort to keep the qualities of the original experience intact under a new online mode and patch cards built into the system. It's a worthy collection not only for the fans but also those who love the gameplay concept, already used by many new games. However, even with a big gallery and high quality games, there's a lingering feeling that, when compared to similar compilations, Capcom could have done a little more to make the whole pack truly perfect.

There is plenty of quality in the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, but it is stretched over a lot of quantity. Ten games for the price of one sounds great, but if those ten games are almost identical, that changes things considerably. To reuse that Pokemon comparison, this is like buying a bundle of ten older Pokemon games, which seems like a bargain, but those ten games are spread over just two or three generations. That quantity is what you are really paying for, so you should be aware of that going in. If a heck of a lot of Mega Man Battle Network is an appealing prospect to you then by all means, jump right in. If that water looks a little deep, then you might want to hold off for now.

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection includes the 10 main Game Boy Advance installments of the Battle Network subsaga divided into two volumes. We are facing a notable compilation, with interesting additions and news, in addition to all the content of the Japanese editions that did not arrive in their day. The gameplay undergoes a radical change going from action games and platforms to strategic RPGs, so perhaps the fan of the classic Mega Man will be lost with the proposal, although if we get hold of the formula, we have hours of fun ahead.

There are a ton of games in the Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection, but because the six titles have so little to differentiate them from each other, it’s hard to see anyone but the most hardcore of fans wanting to run through the entire series. I enjoyed revisiting these games from my youth but came away ready to leave them in the past. For those who just want to dip their toes in, Capcom has provided the option to purchase only the first or second half of the series separately instead of buying the entire larger collection. While it’s not quite as good of a deal on a per-game basis, for those who just want a quick nostalgia hit, that may be the way to go.

Mega Man Battle Network Legacy Collection keeps the main experience intact but adds flourishes to make experiencing each title less of a chore. While not every entry in the Battle Network series is as exciting or strong, the overall experience and story are worth revisiting if you never saw it through to the end.
