Wonder has to offer.

For players who never bought the 2023 version and/or only own a Nintendo Switch 2 console, purchasing Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Together to Bellabel Park is almost a must. It’s the best 2D platformer you can get your hands on right now. It doesn’t matter whether you’re young or old, or whether you’re a fan of platform games or not. On the other hand, the €19.99 upgrade for players who did buy the 2023 game isn’t worth it, in my opinion. Even though the Switch 2 version looks a lot sharper and you get an extra playable character in Rosalina, the Together to Bellabel Park expansion is mainly focused on local or online multiplayer, something for which few players will buy this fantastic game.

Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a pretty darn good 2D platformer that demonstrates the old plumber can still hang with the best of the modern 2D gaming world. While it leans more on gimmicks than radical departures from series conventions, it still has immense charm, strong level design, and spectacular game feel. It’s chock full of stuff to do and ways to get enjoyment out of the experience, with levels having considerable replay value thanks to the many discoveries there are to find, keeping the game in line with 2D Mario at its peak. There are a lot of great experiences starring Mario on the Nintendo Switch, but Wonder is definitely one worth fitting in your library. The additions found in Super Mario Bros. Wonder – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition + Meetup in Bellabel Park are nice bonuses to add to an already loaded package. However, unless you expect to get a lot of mileage out of Attraction Central with your friends or family, I don’t quite think the additional £17 GBP/ $20 USD price tag makes the upgrade a must for Switch 2 owners, especially given it raises the full price of the game up to £67 GBP/$80 USD.
Yes, the Switch is still great, and Super Mario Wonder runs wonderfully on it. But like I said when I reviewed Tears of the Kingdom, this feels like the swan song for this generation of the Switch.
Since his humble beginnings in 1981, Mario is still going strong, showing why he is the face of Nintendo and a true icon of video games, and his latest outing is once again proof there is still a love and appreciation for classic 2D side-scrolling platform gaming, featuring hours upon hours of pure fun and being full of wonder, whether you’re playing solo or with friends. Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a must-buy for any Mario fan, young or old, with plenty of good times ahead. “Here we goooo!”

Compared to, for example, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, I still think it's not as good. Maybe I’m getting old and it’s just my nostalgia talking, but I think they could have explored a few more things. Still, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is definitely worth it! And you’ll have a lot of fun for a long time, hours of guaranteed fun. Highly recommended!

Super Mario Bros Wonder is another great first-party Nintendo release in a stellar year full of massive hits. The new upgrades, wonders and badges bring plenty of new gameplay elements to keep players engaged, and it does so in a typically colourful jacket overall that is sure to please gamers of all ages.
Nintendo has delivered yet another memorable experience that is delightfully ridiculous with surprises from start to finish. There’s a perfect combination of old and new mechanics executed flawlessly which feels fresh yet nostalgic at the same time. Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a masterpiece worthy of being titled one of the best platformers of all time.
There are new plenty of new ideas here, with the Wonder Seed mechanic in particular allowing Nintendo to throw some really interesting (at time insane) ideas into these levels. At the end of the day though, this is still just a side-scrolling platformer. It might be the best side-scrolling platformer available on the Switch…but I left wanting more. Regardless of my personal feeling above, Super Mario Bros Wonder is a worthy addition to the Mario series and it is a must-play game for fans of the franchise and newcomers alike. It is a reminder that even after all these years, Mario’s adventures whether in 2D or 3D continue to be a source of wonder and joy, offering a timeless and heartfelt gaming experience that will undoubtedly leave players with a smile on their face.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder offers a complete world and character overhaul, with fully redesigned and fluid animations, bringing an innovative touch to the saga in true Nintendo style. The game provides hours of carefree fun, smiles, and amazement, unmatched by most games. If 2D platformers are your idea of fun, this is one of the year's best titles. Extremely varied and fun, both simple and complex, and absolutely recommended. You won't regret it.

With varied world maps full of secrets to uncover, absurdly clever level design, and a real sense of surprise and – well – wonder for the first time in ages, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is more than capable of carrying the Switch to the end of the road.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder is one of the best two-dimensional platformers ever made in the history of video games, and probably the best in the franchise along with the historic Super Mario World. The gameplay constantly surprises, the environments are magnificent, and Nintendo has worked hard to keep the title fresh with its gimmicks and innovations. This is no mere sequel to the New saga, but a fresh start. And also a triumph.

While I have my reservations about whether or not Super Mario Bros. Wonder represents the first big step for the series away from the “New” Super Mario Bros. iterations, this is easily the most fun I’ve had with a 2D Mario platformer since Super Mario Bros. 3 (a game I hold in higher regard than Super Mario World), undoubtedly making it not only of the best games of the year but one of the best games on the Switch.
Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the best and most elaborate 2D Mario of all time. We're quite close to the the end of Switch's lifecycle, but Nintendo hasn't slept on their laurels and elevated 2D Mario to another level.

I haven't had this much fun playing a Mario game since Super Mario World on the SNES. So much creativity went into making Super Mario Bros. Wonder whether that's all the new power-ups, the incredible level designs or the game-changing Wonder Flowers. The game is a blast playing solo but the fun is magnified several times over when you play co-op with family and friends.
