Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective Reviews
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is an interactive tale that immerses us in a shadowy and humor-filled narrative right from the start. With its distinct style of creatively unraveling puzzles, it keeps us engaged from beginning to end. Retaining the game's original essence while enhancing its visual appeal was a commendable choice. This version serves as a deserving tribute to a truly original game that went unnoticed during its initial release.

It's been over a decade since Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective came out, and the game remains as charming and delightful as the day it was released. The HD remake does a fantastic job of updating the title for modern displays without losing the style that made it so engrossing in the first place. When the biggest flaw is that I wish there was more of it, that says a lot about its quality. It's weird, it's silly, and it has the best darn Pomeranian in video games. If you like the Ace Attorney games or colorful puzzle titles, you owe it to yourself to give Ghost Trick a try. Now if we could just get a sequel ....
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is another hit for Capcom, in bringing Shu Takumi's masterpieces to a new public, while also expanding the audience for games of less celebrated genres to the wider audience.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is one of the most rewarding puzzle games that I have ever played. With an awesome aesthetic, great music, and a story full of twists and turns, this game will keep you coming back for more.
If you're already familiar with this game, you won't be missing out on any meaningful extras by skipping this release, but if you are new to Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective it is a must play. It is one of those games that doesn't need a sequel or prequel but is a perfectly self-contained story that truly hasn't aged a day. I couldn't be happier that Ghost Trick has been brought back to life one more time.
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is a classic puzzle detective game from the makers of the Phoenix Wright series and it's absolutely packed with humour, satisfying puzzles, and colourful characters that you'll get to know well throughout its complex supernatural story.
The remaster of Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is about as well done as it realistically could have been, and preserves both the story and the art style very well.

All things considered, even after more than a decade, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective remains a gem that can’t be missed, and that’s a true testament to its long-lasting quality. With brilliant design, improved visuals that are remarkably smooth and pleasant to watch, a challenging adventure, and a story that has more nuances than you could ever expect during its 10-hour duration, this is a unique game that delivers so many thrills, so many funny moments, that you won’t regret a single minute invested in it.
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is outrageously entertaining and still holds up masterfully over a decade later. Between its beautifully rebuilt HD visuals, a timeless sense of humor, suitably ludicrous storytelling with smart, logical puzzle solving, it’s the perfect game to chill, unwind and relax with, while being taken on an unforgettable ride. A true delight and worth remaster that is another huge win for game preservation.
"Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective," even with its remastered elements, may only be a worthwhile purchase if you're feeling nostalgic about the old DS game.
Like Ace Attorney, Ghost Trick asks you to fight hard for what’s right, to find justice in an unjust world, to cut through all the cynicism and the bullshit to find happiness and salvation. On this playthrough, I found Ghost Trick deeply touching. This is an earnest, uncynical game where you can make good things happen for people who deserve a win.
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is a highly enjoyable experience that I’m glad Capcom deemed fit to release for modern audiences. It’s charming and unique, and the story is written well enough to keep you captivated throughout your playthrough. This game is perfect for gamers who are looking for a break between long open-world games, and with so many of these grand and high-budget titles that have either been recently released or are coming soon, this Capcom classic is something that we would not recommend skipping.
Ghost Trick is by far one of Capcom’s most unique and clever games, and it’s now finally widely available after spending nearly a decade and a half as a portable exclusive.
Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective hardly deviates from the original. It's a game that's already 13 years old, and yet it's still able to defend itself even today. For a person like me, who hasn't had much exposure to this game in the past, its mechanics still seem fresh, original and extremely inventive.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective was a fantastic DS remaster candidate for several reasons, including its acclaim and low reliance on the top DS screen. It stands to reason that a modern console and PC refresh would be met with excitement from both fans of the original and those who never got to play it the first time around, but to say that expectations were exceeded would be an understatement. If you’re even remotely curious about the title or want to see how 3/DS remasters should be done, it’s really no mystery that you should pick up Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective.
If I could, I would develop my own 4K, dual screen handheld to cram this game onto, but I have no money and no talent, so here I am. Instead, I am imploring fans from all walks – the visual novel crowd, the detective crew, the Pomeranian fanatics – to come and take this ride. It’s charming, it’s complex, it’s lovingly crafted and it honestly surprises me that Capcom gave so much care to a game that seemed to slip under so many radars. It’s only till the sun rises, though, so make haste to take your time. You may only have one chance to find out the truth.
At the risk of repeating myself, Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective is a great game. If you like intrigue, comedy and puzzle games, you must give it a try. The script is extremely well written, the game is visually stunning despite its age, and the lifespan is more than reasonable, with an average of 12 hours of gameplay. It would be a shame for this quality title to sink into oblivion, but thanks to this remaster, new players will have the chance to discover it. And that's a win-win situation.
