Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Reviews
If there’s any way to summarize Tomb Raider I-III Remastered, it’s that it’s amazing to realize just how well those classic games have aged over the decades. I've enjoyed powering through the games with the new modern art, but it's the level design and gameplay that keep bringing me back. With minimal changes to the formula, the modernized appearance is all these games needed to gain a new lease of life. Tomb Raider was ahead of its time back in 1996, and this proves that even today Lara Croft still has what it takes.
How remasters need to be done
As a long time fan of the franchise, being able to play the original games on a newer console was enough for me to love it. Aspyr have managed to give the game a much needed upgrade whilst remaining true to the source material.
Tomb Raider I-III Remastered allows longtime fans to relive the franchise's heyday with a beautiful retread that doesn't compromise on nostalgia. However, the mechanics have been deliberately kept as they were originally, which may put off potential players who are unfamiliar with the original games. Master the controls and you're guaranteed to have fun for a long time.

For veteran gamers, Tomb Raider Remastered I-III is a great time capsule of a very popular trilogy of games that moved the action/adventure genre forward. For recent gamers, this collection is an excellent way to experience the games that the modern action/adventure games of today evolved from.
Tomb Raider Remastered is a fantastic collection that checks all the right boxes. I adored these games and revisiting them has been a treat. I cannot recommend this collection enough if you are like me and have nostalgia for those original titles. They just don’t make them like this anymore. The sense of wonder and exploration mixed with the subtle music cues and adventure are truly unmatched. It was great revisiting these and I hope the next game in the series takes a few notes from the ones that started it all.
Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft is a superb collection of some of the PSOne's best adventure games. Whether you're a newcomer or veteran fan, the games remain hugely enjoyable and challenging, and the extra improvements really shine, particularly if you're new to the series and are intimidated by the old-school mechanics. Dive in and discover Lara Croft at her very best.
A gift to fans of Lara Croft's retro beginnings, Tomb Raider: I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft is a masterfully beautified collection of the first three games, plus their extra chapters. It does what all remasters of super old-school classics should do, providing the whole experience, practically unchanged, but in a brand new coat of paint that offers quite the sight, without ruining the magic of the original. Whether most will like the titles included is a different matter altogether, because, while pretty good, they are far from flawless, but as far as upgrades go, this is one of the best of the bunch.
The Tomb Raider I-III collection is faithful to the originals and is a beautifully mastered collection. While I may be incredibly biased, as Tomb Raider is quite literally the reason I’m a games journalist today, it still holds up so well, and you can choose whether you want a modernized or a dated experience.
Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is a nostalgic treat, with the remastered adventures of Lara Croft standing the test of time over the last twenty-plus years. Of course, it helps that Aspyr have done an absolutely fantastic job of bringing the classic adventures into a modern light, with the revamped visuals, cool gameplay additions, and inclusion of all expansions ensuring this is the definitive way to experience three of the most iconic video games of the 90s. There’s no doubting that the old-school gameplay won’t be for everyone and the modern control scheme does feel like a misstep, but Tomb Raider I-III Remastered still stands out as one of the most impressive remastered releases that I’ve ever played.
Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft is one of the best remastering jobs I have seen. It's obvious from the second you boot the title up there has been a lot of love and care put into this one. The modern controls could do with some tweaking and the games themselves could be initially daunting for people who didn't grow up with Lara but there is a lot to love in this classic adventure package if you're willing to accept Lara Croft and her quirks. For those who have played the originals to death, there are enough additions and quality-of-life improvements to make this the essential way to now play these titles.
To sum things up, I would say that this remaster was extremely well done with the attention to detail and the overall love paid off to the Tomb Raider franchise and its fans in order to produce this as its masterpiece. It’s a welcome improvement that both new and old players can find something to enjoy, and what returning players can come back to in order to fall in love with the series once again.
Players who want to relive that original experience without having to hunt down a classic console and game will be served a high-octane dose of nostalgia.
With "Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft", we received a fantastic remaster that impressed us. It clearly shows that old classics can still shine in modern times. The "new" adventure of Lara Croft is simply great. However, you have to bear in mind that we're still dealing with old games here, so I have to say right at the beginning that you have to have a high frustration threshold when it comes to one or two jump passages. Apart from that and a few bugs, it's a nice remaster, which is why we'd like to see more of them at this point. Aspyr has produced a really successful game here.

Aspyr really pulled through in making a superb package for new explorers and old adventurers to dig into, but I still have no clue why there is no platinum trophies on the PS5 edition?!
I'm obsessed with this remastered collection of the first 3 Tomb Raider games as it does an amazing job of bringing the action-adventure classics back to life with a big graphical overhaul while maintaining absolutely everything that make the games so much fun.
Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is a careful, respectful and well-handled re-proposal of three masterpieces now available for new and past generation consoles. It is a great proof of preservation in a landscape that, at times, cannot keep up with the times. Returning to the role of Lara Croft is always an absolute thrill, exactly like the first time, which for me was with Tomb Raider: Legend.

The iconic Lara Croft returns in a series of lovingly crafted remasters of her first three adventures. Tomb Raider I-III Remastered features not only the base version of all three games, but also the full expansions which were previously unavailable on the PS1, providing an incredible amount of content for a bargain price. Upgraded character models and lighting, a photo mode, and optional quality-of-life improvements help round out a collection which would have been worthwhile without the graphical upgrade. Unfortunately, a few control, lighting, and camera issues do occasionally arise, dampening what is otherwise a great collection.
Tomb Raider I-III Remastered Starring Lara Croft does just enough with the original Tomb Raider games to make them a great fit for the Nintendo Switch. The ability to instantly flip between the original and remastered graphics is entertaining, but the real fun lies with the games themselves. And these are the three best Tomb Raiders ever made.
Tomb Raider I-III Remastered is, most likely, what fans were hoping to be able to play, sooner or later. A superbly crafted compilation, respectful of the original material, capable of allowing us to relive all the typically '90s feeling of Lara Croft's first three adventures.
