Wizard with a Gun is great with a friend and even alone; it combines perfectly the combat of a roguelite and the exploration and administration of a strategy game, but sometimes it's so ambitious that it's kind of a mess.

Wizard With a Gun scratches the survival roguelike itch quite nicely. There's variety in the levels and enemies, and you're inspired to make short journeys instead of taking one long trek. The toning down of some elements, such as complete item loss on death and lack of hunger and thirst meters, means that it is a little more forgiving than its contemporaries. The presence of co-op is welcome, even if it's online only. It's a fun game overall and worth checking out, provided you can get over the clunkiness in a few spots.

Wizard with a Gun is a solid product in every aspect. Galvanic Games' work is aesthetically pleasing, narratively sufficient, and mechanically satisfying. While it doesn't break new ground, it's a great refresher of basic genre mechanics. Recommended for roguelike fans and newcomers alike.

Wizard with a Gun attempts to innovate the gaming landscape with a rather interesting mixture of genres. Unfortunately, shortcomings in the controls and the handling of the final part of the storyline do not allow it to fully take off. However, should you be looking for an experience to play with a friend, Galvanic Games' first effort could well be for you.

Wizard with a Gun manages to make a good combination of different genres and offer a pleasant experience. Although it could be richer in content and explore the possibilities of combat in more depth, the final balance of the game is positive, making it an easy recommendation for those who are curious about this mix.

Galvanic Games' vast sandbox offers almost endless possibilities with its weapons, but lacks challenges to match its creativity and magnetism.

Wizard with a Gun is a moody vibes-first, narrative-second survival crafting game that perfectly compresses the most satisfying bits of the genre into an engaging loop. While the light bits of story are delivered through the gaming version of footnotes, the pitch-perfect visuals of its wild and crumbling biomes and twangy music do the additional lifting needed to get players invested in its world. Its approachable and goal-oriented gameplay design are perfect for those who feel out of step with the open-ended approach to many games in the genre. Whether solo or with a friend, Wizard with a Gun has a lot more "review score up" bullets than the "review score down" ones loaded in its chamber.

That’s a real shame because I love so much of the game Galvanic Games have created, but I don’t particularly enjoy the feel of actually playing it. There are enough cool moments and interesting paths that I still had a fairly good time overall, but the actual feel of the game is a crucial element that simply never clicked. However, players who this core gameplay resonates with will absolutely love Wizard With a Gun.

Wizard with a Gun is a very tight package, its magic being how quickly and efficiently it has you into its systems and into the groove of turning back time to save the world. It achieves this with tight-timed runs and its trim systems throughout, never leading you too far off the path to salvation.

Wizard with a Gun is an engaging action adventure that seamlessly blends roguelike and crafting elements. It initially feels slow in the opening hours, but players who stick with it will find themselves deeply immersed, enhancing their base and character. This game offers an enjoyable experience even if you’re not a survival genre enthusiast. Plus, its multiplayer functionality adds significant replay value, making it a well-rounded gaming choice. Don’t be deterred by a sluggish start; Wizard with a Gun has much to offer.

Wizard with a Gun is a game about quick-drawing wizards blasting away the forces of chaos with enchanted bullets, and what more do you really need? While the game is certainly playable solo, it can get a bit lonely and sometimes even kind of dull without a ‘pardner by your side. If you’ve got a few friends willing to blast their way through the apocalypse, load up Wizard with a Gun and get shooting.
