Football Manager 2024 sticks to a formula that works well and doesn't try to change it, but it does add some minor innovations. These are mainly aimed at experienced and hardcore players, but the game still manages to appeal to new players through a series of hints and assistants.

Football Manager 2024 seems to have tried to maximize what it can do while saying goodbye to its current game engine. The adaptation of QQL innovations has also been very successful. If you're already an FM addict, I'm sure by the time you read this you've already put the 35th Wonderkid candidate on your shortlist...

Football Manager 2024 is a great experience for anyone who has played the series in the past 10 years. It refines all the core gameplay, adds some interesting new ideas, and gives players a lot of freedom to engage with the mechanics they like and delegate the rest.

There’s not much else to say in this review. The big feature in Football Manager 2024 is the inclusion of Japanese football. That alone makes this version of the game the definitive edition. Putting that aside the rest of the game is another decent refinement to the best sporting management game of all time, and while it sometimes feels like Sports Interactive rests on its laurels, as no one else is ever going to have the engine or data to compete in this particular niche, the reality is that when the base game is this good, tweaks from one year to the next are enough.

SEGA and Sports Interactive give us a strawberry-flavored treat to rid us of the bad taste from the previous edition, along with a good number of improvements that will please most veteran players. Despite everything, they will have to consider whether they want to make the leap. If you haven't played for a couple of seasons or are a newcomer to the franchise, welcome to the true king of sports.

Football Manager 2024 remains the grand champion of its category. The title developed by the Sports Interactive team is as complete as ever. This year's changes to gameplay and squad planning have had a real impact on our games. The introduction of new championships every year means that there's something for everyone. I still regret the absence of women's leagues, but I imagine this is an idea the developers have already had, and we'll just have to be patient. All in all, this is the best sports management experience on the market. However, the interface is still very busy and may not suit all players.

Football Manager 2024 is the last installment with the current engine before what promises to be a turning point in the saga, and they could not have done it in a better way, bringing the best and most polished version of the game so far, and addressing demands such as the import of games or the inclusion of the J-League. The tactical improvements, squad management and transfers, and the match simulation engine will delight all fans. The only shame that comes to mind seeing the expertise of the guys at Sports Interactive is that they have not managed to consolidate a saga of the same quality for other sports such as basketball or ice hockey despite their attempts a few years ago. with this latest sporting modality.

Football Manager 2024 gives you more control over a football club's operations than ever before. You'll talk to players individually, plan game strategies, and snap up talent while retaining your own. Every club is different and it's up to you to figure out the best path forward. There are a lot of systems to learn which can be intimidating if you aren't familiar with club management. You also won't see the outcome of your decisions until a good amount of time has passed. But nothing beats the feeling of everything coming together when your team holds the championship cup.

Football Manager 2024 is a true return to form for the series. Every addition we have seen feels important, more so than in the last couple of years, whilst the frustrations of FM23 have been left behind. The debate about annual releases will always rage on, but in this case, it’s justified. The narratives that develop throughout a save, the relationships you create with players and the joy of a last-minute winner are as prevalent as ever. Sega and Sports Interactive often tout this series as the most authentic, complete footballing experience - and this year, it's hard to argue.
