Contra: Operation Galuga Reviews
It's great to see a dying franchise back on its feet, both with its beloved classic gameplay and new mechanics that feel fresh. One of the best games in the series.

My gaming chum and I had a ton of fun with Contra: Operation Galuga and although it doesn't live up to classics such as the peak of run 'n' gun action, Hard Corps, there's certainly a lot to love here, especially with its varied assortment of playable characters. 💥
Contra: Operation Galuga is a delight for series fans and shooter enthusiasts. With its Perk system, multiple difficulty levels, and three game modes, it’s one of the most accessible yet challenging titles in the genre. It offers hours of arcade fun despite a short campaign. Technically, it’s enjoyable and smooth, making it a recommended experience.

Contra: Operation Galuga marks the return to the scenes of Konami's historic series after a hiatus of several years, especially if we go back to dredge up the last installment with a quality worthy of this IP's prestige. The developers at WayForward painstakingly reworked the classic run 'n gun action game of the 1980s, managing to replicate the original feel with a little splash of modernity. The operation is certainly successful, yet the more orthodox features of the saga (edginess of difficulty, primarily) may still be a relevant deterrent for many players today.

Contra: Operation Galuga is a re-release of a cult game that is definitely worth playing for those nostalgic for the old Metal Slug-style run'n' gun games. Konami's production succeeds in entertaining thanks to a frenetic and satisfying gameplay, which is however counterbalanced by an unexceptional artistic compartment and by a longevity that is risible, even including the extra modes contained here.

Contra Operation Galuga is an interesting title especially for fans of the genre, admittedly not without flaws. It lacks on the frame-rate and the landscapes are a bit lacking in detail but overall thanks to the well-done boss battles, the wide range of enemies and the multiplayer/arcade if you feel like doing more than one game to turn off your brain it is a perfect game.

Contra: Operation Galuga is a polished experience that gave me exactly what I want when playing a Contra game: cool weapons, cool bosses and loads of eye-candy action. With three modes (plus an unlockable Speedrun mode), nine playable characters and a bunch of great perks to unlock, this is a run-and-gun action game offering a sizable amount of content.
The overall visual effect, although it tries to recall something from the past, looks like a jumble of things that proves the confusion of the creators who wanted to bring something old into the present, but chose a mediocre way.

Contra: Operation Galuga is a prime example of a game that feels fresh and retro at the same time.
Contra: Operation Galuga marks the return of Konami's classic, with a game that respects its legacy and offers a challenging experience but updated to the current times. a new opportunity for the saga and a neat, effective and fun game. It is full of details, winks and references to the franchise that denote the love and care with which it was developed, making it a must for every fan of 'The Big C'.

A successful re-imagining from Konami and a very enjoyable game. I hope for more releases of this prestigious series in the future.

Contra: Operation Galuga, though nothing new and has some story issues, is still a love letter to Contra fans just wanting to shoot stuff.
Contra: Operation Galuga is a hard game. It's a good reinterpretation of an eternal classic but it has severe errors in execution. It's possible to see a soul and heart in the development, but it's also obvious that some adjustments were necessary (I myself was stuck in a bug that put me off screen, quickly eliminating my lives).

Contra: Operation Galuga is a fun title that can be a good direction for the franchise going forward, keeping the best parts of what it has to offer to the genre. Though it plays too safe and doesn't bring many novelties, I believe it to be what we need after years without something we could call at least decent. Unfortunately, the audiovisual presentation significantly hinders the final quality and its price isn't justified by the content it offers.

Galuga may not live up to those first two NES/Arcade titles by a long shot, but the fact it manages to be just a bit better than Contra III and Hard Corps for me more than makes it worthy of being part of the 2D lineage.
A run and gun in which there is no shortage of tributes and nods but that does not waste the opportunity to build around that pure and crystalline subgenre that has its two main pillars in its name.

A new score and weapon mechanic compliments Contra: Operation Galuga’s fun gameplay, but they can’t cover for levels that feel poorly paced and uninteresting enemy design.
Konami and WayForward bring us Contra: Operation Galuga, a new installment of the franchise that reimagines the original game from 1987, with situations that will remind us of the classic Contras and other novelties such as new weapons, the use of characters with different abilities, or advantages equippable which gives a new depth to the gameplay. The action is guaranteed, although at times it will be confusing due to excess effects and the artistic section is left to the player's taste, but it is undeniable that WayForward has found the perfect balance between accessible gameplay for new players and a challenge for veterans, and What is certain is that everyone will have fun equally.

I’m positively surprised at just how well Contra Operation Galuga turned out. After their previous game in the series, I was worried that Konami would just phone it in and have this be just another cash-in for nostalgia’s sake: it is in fact a shockingly good entry. It won’t blow you away or anything, but what it does it does well and there’s a decent amount of different ways to play and keep you busy for a little while. Don’t pass this up. Fight aggressively!
Faithful to its roots while introducing quality of life tweaks, Contra: Operation Galuga offers accessible and rewarding gameplay for series veterans and newcomers alike looking for retro shooting fun.
