Hades II Reviews
Few developers can take an already near-perfect game and craft a sequel that surpasses it, but Supergiant Games is one of the rare exceptions. Hades was almost flawless, and Hades II feels like "flawless plus." It builds on the original's foundation with precision and purpose, expanding only where it truly counts, and delivers one of the finest roguelike experiences ever made, without the need to reinvent the wheel.

Surpassing the first Hades game may seem like a Sisyphean labour. And yet, Supergiant Games managed to make Hades II even more captivating, deeper, and sincere than a god-like first part.

Hades 2 is not just a sequel, but a reimagining of the roguelike genre, where mechanics, narrative, and setting are seamlessly intertwined. Melinoe delivers a tactical yet personalized experience with deep abilities and upgrades. The level design and combat are woven into the narrative with an exquisitely crafted feel that makes defeat part of the game's meaning. The music, lighting, and art design also add an emotional and philosophical layer to the experience. If you're looking for a game that offers both mechanical challenge and narrative richness, Hades 2 is the perfect choice.

I enjoyed Hades II more than I did the original game. The first game had the benefit of being new and novel, but the sequel shows that Supergiant has figured out how to improve upon the incredibly strong mechanics from the first game. The charming story, gorgeous graphics, and incredibly good music all come together to prove that Hades wasn't just a one-hit wonder. It more than justifies Supergiant returning to the well.
Hades II builds on everything that the original had and manages to double the content while still keeping its Supergiant Games feel. It has unrivaled roguelite elements that prioritise player skill over randomisation, and content aplenty that you won't be left wanting for more.
Without a doubt, Hades II lives up to its predecessor, and surpasses it in a number of ways. While it can at times be overwhelming in terms of collectibles and crafting materials, there are also so many ways to enjoy the experience, through options like God Mode and Aim Assist, or just grinding out in-game achievements and other unlockables. Ultimately, my first complete run through the first Hades signalled the end of my time with that game, but for the sequel, it felt more like I was just getting started.
Hades II is much more than a sequel. Supergiant Games' work exceeds all expectations, with a gameplay loop that keeps you hooked at every moment, even as you die trying. Its immersive narrative and thrilling action make it an essential title for action lovers.

Supergiant Games' first sequel does not disappoint and actually delivers another memorable and incredibly fun romp through Greek mythology as envisioned by the Californian developers.

Hades II is exactly what you'd expect from a much-refined sequel and even though it's been 5 years since the original, you'll be immediately drawn back into the iconic action-packed gameplay, especially thanks to its unique combat foundations.
Supergiant Games seems somewhat reluctant to take major risks with Hades II following the success of the first game, instead choosing to continue refining the elements the studio already excels at. However, by reducing or altering some of the aspects the original handled better, the sequel struggles to demonstrate enough meaningful growth and evolution after a five-year wait. Hades II is certainly not a bad game, and fans of the first title will still enjoy returning to its gameplay loop time and time again. Still, after such a long development period, not encountering a significantly more ambitious or polished sequel may leave some players disappointed.

Hades II is as close to perfection as you’ll get. I know you’ve heard it before, but you will not be disappointed if you play this game. It is spectacular, and I loved everything about it. The story is great, the monsters are tough but fair, and the abilities are wonderful to master. Accordingly, it is fantastic, and I recommend getting a copy from the Xbox store!
Hades II succeeded in surpassing the legacy of the first part to prove itself as one of the best and most complete Roguelike gaming experiences in history. The game offers a mature epic story and a massive, diverse world that expands in two different paths, alongside carefully written characters and a stunning artistic direction accompanied by great music that escalates with every hit to increase immersion. With a perfect gameplay style, it offers a high-speed combat system, supported by a great variety of abilities, giving players infinite freedom. This mixture is completed with the high challenge of bosses and the renewal of enemies in every area, creating a perfect and highly addictive Gameplay Loop, making every attempt a unique adventure.

A significant upgrade to the first game in almost every single way, Hades II takes the already really high bar and brings it even further up. Fifty hours in and I still can’t seem to put the game down. Hades II is an absolute must-play for pretty much everyone, fans of the genre or not. Death to Chronos, again and again.
Surprising no one, Hades II is a stellar example of the roguelike genre, with excellent combat, rewarding loops and progression, and for those that are willing to spend the time a dense and expansive story and lore to dig into.. Packed with more game than meets the eye, Hades II is something we’ll be playing for a long time to come.
Hours upon hours will slip away as you attempt to stop Chronos, and with each run you’ll want to reach the endgame more and more. From start to finish, Hades II is a masterpiece.
While it may not carry the novelty of the original, Hades II delivers a meaningful evolution.
With irresistible gameplay, a cast of award winning worthy voice acted characters and an endless stream of surprises, we all fell, one by one, under the spell of this game. If this is the underworld I end up in when I die, I look forward to the journey. Hades 2 is a perfect game, and the greatest roguelite ever made.
