Planet Coaster 2 Reviews
Is Planet Coaster 2 going to replace the original as my go-to park builder just yet? No, but it almost definitely will in the future. It’s early days, and to discredit the work that Frontier has put into Planet Coaster 2 would do them a huge disservice – there simply aren’t any other studios out there that push out such quality games. It’s still a way off becoming the ultimate theme park builder, but if other Frontier titles are to go by, give it a little time (and a little polish) and Planet Coaster 2 will undoubtedly be the sandbox my dreams.
Planet Coaster 2 offers a genre-best box of creative tools and community-driven features and expands on its predecessor on almost every level, but chances are you won't be as enchanted by its management systems, which continue to be a thorn in Frontier's side.
Planet Coaster 2 offers potentially endless gameplay. Frontier's title is more than just a management simulator; it's a dynamic, living diorama where players can invest countless hours purely to satisfy their aesthetic vision and showcase their creations to the community. For the detail-oriented, scrutinizing every corner of the game may reveal a few notable gaps, but fortunately, the development team is already aware of these and plans to address them in the near future.

For theme park lovers, Planet Coaster 2 is truly a dream come true. The addition of water parks opens up new ways to expand on the core roller coaster mechanics, while the introduction of new systems greatly enhances the gameplay experience. Whether you're building thrilling rides or managing park operations, this sequel offers a wealth of creative possibilities.

To be frank, here, I don’t think enough was done to make Planet Coaster 2 enough of a sequel. Adding water parks and slides, and more rides in general, were all perfectly rational ways to expand on the Planet Coaster experience, but we’re in an era now where DLC is getting Game of the Year nominations, and I do think that this feels more like a massive DLC drop at 50% of the price of a base game than a new, full-priced game.
Planet Coaster 2 is a natural evolution of the theme park-building simulation game in many ways. With endless possibilities to spark your creativity and the addition of water parks, it is the best alternative to create your own fun experience. The downside is that bugs, an unintuitive interface, and poorly adapted commands in the console version can demotivate less patient players.

Planet Coaster 2 harbors a level of creativity unmatched in this space. Its attention to detail is so intense, that its biggest challenge is forming a straight path without destroying half the planet. A wonderfully creative playground is available for those with the patience to work through it, but it proves to be a frustratingly cumbersome journey for the rest of us.
Planet Coaster 2 is one of the pinnacles of the theme park simulator genre and while it doesn't have a smooth learning curve for newcomers, it's safe to say that those who have already mastered its systems will enjoy it immensely.
Planet Coaster 2 builds on its predecessor, expanding the formula with the addition of water parks, offering fans of the genre something extra to enjoy. It could have been perfect if not for a few issues, such as lackluster AI and clunky controls on consoles, with an unintuitive interface and an imprecise path-building tool. While these problems could be fixed with a patch, they currently hinder an otherwise highly enjoyable experience.

Planet Coaster 2 isn't revolutionary, but it builds upon the success of Planet Coaster 1, with some neat additions such as Water Parks and some extra variety to what you can build. For what you get, I would say the price is reasonable. Yes, there are some rough edges right now, but these aren't serious dealbreakers and are fixable, so I would still recommend this game to anyone looking for a park builder. Steam Deck performance is middling. Yes, the control scheme works really well for a controller, and there is a Steam Deck preset given in the graphics menu, but the CPU load is pretty heavy, and as you start to get thousands of guests, you will have to accept playing at 20-25 FPS. When the guest limit of 6,000 gets removed in December, I could see serious performance issues for Steam Deck players if the game isn't optimized more, so it's something to be aware of.
Planet Coaster 2 is an excellent evolution of the first game in every aspect and still has plenty of room to grow over the years as more content and updates are released. However, it still suffers from some minor design mistakes and frustrating choices regarding guests complaints.

Planet Coaster 2 excels in amusement park management, presenting a superb combination of gameplay depth and accessibility. You’re sure to enjoy the ride in this brilliant coaster tycoon.
Planet Coaster 2 successfully expands the theme park simulation genre with its robust suite of new features and refined mechanics. From water rides and swimming pools to the immersive first-person view and dynamic weather systems, the game offers plenty of fresh elements to excite both returning fans and newcomers. Enhanced customization tools empower players to craft parks that feel uniquely theirs, while guest archetypes and realistic weather effects introduce new layers of strategy.
I won't lie, I become invested for countless hours in creative games like Planet Coaster 2 and it retains the qualities from 2016 and then some. As someone who pretended to be ill in my school days so I could stay at home and plough extra hours into adventures like Theme Park and Rollercoaster Tycoon in the 90s, this sends me back to that headspace. What we have here is a joyful, addictive and rich park builder which will no doubt become more fruitful with updates over time. The real draw though is how reasonably priced the game is. At just £39.99 for the base edition and £49.99 for the deluxe version, it is well worth the money and your time investment if you adore this genre like I do.
Planet Coaster 2 is recommended as a sequel because it more than delivers in terms of innovation and depth. A whole creative experience and realism that consolidate it as a benchmark in the theme park simulation genre. A must for lovers of the genre and a perfect challenge for beginners.

Planet Coaster 2 is without a doubt the best theme park management game. The creation and customisation system is one of the most comprehensive in the genre, and it's no exaggeration to say that you'll spend hundreds of hours perusing the game editor. The addition of the water attractions greatly increases the game's offerings and introduces new features that complete the gaming experience. Unfortunately, the management system remains a secondary aspect of the production, despite the fact that it too has been revised in comparison to its predecessor.

Overall, Planet Coaster 2 builds on everything fans loved about the original while adding new layers of creativity and depth. After a few more updates to fine-tune the game and controls, it will be a worthy successor to Planet Coaster. For me and many players, the game shines as a sandbox for your imagination, allowing you to craft the theme park of your dreams with an overwhelming array of tools and options.
Planet Coaster 2 introduces welcome features like pools, water rides, and improved tools, but falls short in key areas, with interface issues, lackluster management mechanics, limited content, and performance problems that make the game feel incomplete; while there are charming moments for diehard fans, as a full-priced theme park simulation, it ultimately disappoints and feels more like an unfinished Early Access title.

While the tools to build your wildest dream parks are there and Planet Coaster 2 does everything it realistically can to show you how, making those dreams come to life is not an easy task. Frontier has improved what was already an excellent theme park management sim, it just isn’t for the faint of heart. Much like the coasters you might want to make.
Planet Coaster 2 has a lot of fun and engaging elements—if you can take the time to figure it all out.
