Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind Reviews
A great brawler brought low by baffling design decisions.
Perhaps I’m being a little too harsh, but I expect that if you cash in on my childhood, you should at least give me an experience that’s more fun than the game I played 20+ years ago.
A fun beat 'em up based on the Mighty Morphy Power Rangers franchise
The Rangers themselves are a bit hard to distinguish in terms of how they play, which makes subsequent playthroughs a bit less enticing, but there are stage objectives to complete for those so inclined. While the different stage types keep the action from getting stale, the Megazord segments are a bit of a letdown in terms of both gameplay and presentation. All in all, seeing another decades-old property brought back for another ride that plays well and hits those nostalgic notes is a welcome fourth quarter addition to the Switch's stable of brawlers.
Exciting, fun and energetic, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind is a true celebration of the franchise and the beat 'em up format itself. The game combines a typical story of the morning super sentai shows of the 1990s, great gameplay and a killer aesthetic, even though it loses a little rhythm in the shooting passages and combat with the zords. It doesn't reinvent the genre, but it certainly exalts it like few productions in recent decades.

Simply put, I wish that Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind was more fleshed out when it comes to its basic brawler gameplay. ⏪
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind will take you back to the glory days of '90s arcade beat 'em up titles with an original story fans will enjoy. But it does lack in offering a unique experience.
All and all, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is a quite enjoyable experience, although it falls short of the perch Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge has made for itself.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind accomplishes its main mission of delivering a nostalgic, fun beat'em up that manages to honor the legacy of its inspirations and also the giant franchise it represents. Unfortunately, some technical missteps end up making the experience not one of the best on the Switch, but the promise of more updates tends to soon fix the aspects that are not so polished on its launch.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is great beat’em up. Combat is surprisingly deep, the gameplay variety is also a nice touch, albeit not perfect. While the game’s overall balancing feels all over the place between gameplay style, it doesn’t deter too much from the experience. Whether you’re a fan of the series or the genre, or both, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is a must play.
I left Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind with mixed feelings. I played it both solo and in multiplayer, and although I had fun with my friends in a casual way, if I analyze it more critically when playing alone, its flaws start to become evident. Even though it’s beautiful and tries to excite every minute with its explosive presentation, we still don’t have the definitive Power Rangers beat ‘em up.

Unimaginative beat 'em up with a high price tag that completly ignores much better games in the same genre.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind is a welcome blast from the past in concept, but struggles to find its own identity underneath the weight of the concepts within.
Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind may show its budget across the whole package, but it is certainly money well spent. There is a care and passion behind every pixel that is present across both the brawling stages and the arcade-like experiences of piloting the Zords. There is a joyous energy to this game that is infectious, and while it certainly has its own share of issues, I am eager to see what this team can do with a sequel that is refreshingly hinted at.
The Power Rangers are back to save the day and it’s a puddy good time!
While I'm no Power Rangers fan, aficionados of the series deserve better than this stock churned-out co-op beat-em-up that is less "Mighty" and more "Adequate". If you need a 90s beat-em-up with today's modern conveniences, you're better off with Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge.
Is it fair to say that the best aspect about Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is its fanservicey appeal? It’s nostalgic, it made me feel like a kid in the 90s once again, but there’s more to it than just a gratuitous shot of retro-tinged dopamine. It’s still a fantastic beat ’em up with great production values and fluid controls, as well as vehicular combat sections which truly make it stand out. It’s the right balance between being pure nostalgic fun and a high-quality party brawler.
Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind is the perfect beat ‘em up to play with a few friends, as you jam along to the series’ iconic theme song and relive that Saturday morning cartoon fun.
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind is a beloved tribute to a cherished franchise in video game form. It easily stands alongside some of the more standout titles that have emerged in the genre as of late, and everyone involved shows their reverence for MMPR in every frame. Anyone worried about the quality of this game can rest easy, as this is something I can happily point to as a great example of a good beat-em-up. I had a morphenomenal time with Rita’s Rewind, and I’m sure anyone fires this up will feel the same way. This game is far from a headache, so go-go give this one a shot.
