FAIRY TAIL 2 Reviews
Fairy Tail 2 seems like a perfectly lovely RPG for fans of the franchise. It doesn't break any molds, and it leans heavily on fan service, but if all you want is a chance to play an RPG with your favorite cast members, it does the job. The over-the-top combat styling keeps things interesting in what would otherwise be a generic button-mashing experience, and there are enough RPG mechanics to provide the satisfaction of tricking out your favorite characters. It's not a game for people who are unfamiliar with the series, but Fairy Tail fans will be quite delighted by the experience.
Fairy Tail 2 is a good RPG that excellently adapts the events of the manga/anime's final arc. It is a full plate for fans with its good combat system and good representation of the characters, even if its technical limitations hinder the game's potential.

A second chapter completely bland, victim of a loop that leads to tedium after a handful of hours without even the fanservice being able to fuel it.

If you’re a massive FAIRY TAIL fan and want to experience one of the most climactic arcs in the series, FAIRY TAIL 2 will be right up your alley. I just don’t feel like there is enough here for the average RPG fan, especially considering the bland overall combat experience and it being the grand finale of a long story. It’s not the type of game you can power through because it will wear you down, and I liked it more after taking breaks, and that’s not always the best experience you would want for an RPG.
Fairy Tail 2 is a good game but not spectacular. Anyone wanting to find a new JRPG having never delved into this series may have a good time but it's hard to recommend as this is for a niche audience, mainly those familiar with the Manga series. As a player who is not however the narrative was lost on me pretty early on and the gameplay didn't grip me enough to keep me interested enough to come back.
FAIRY TAIL 2 is best left for fans and potentially players of the first game. A fun combat system and entertaining character interactions are strained against a linear, dull boss rush adventure with poor performance and weak sidequesting. I don’t think I can call this game an RPG in any capacity. ∎
Fairy Tail 2 offers an engaging story and exciting boss battles that will captivate fans of the series. The character swapping mechanic allows for interesting combinations, enhancing the gameplay experience. However, the game suffers from empty environments and some poor graphics, which detract from its overall quality. While it shines in its narrative and combat, these visual flaws hold it back from achieving perfection.

With ten chapters and an epilogue, the game is shorter than the anime it is based on, but that ensures that the game remains interesting until the end. Fairy Tail 2 is a must for fans of the series, but also accessible for those who want to get acquainted for the first time.

Fairy Tail 2 captures the essence of the manga and gives nostalgic moments to hardcore fans. However, the lack of innovation, repetitive gameplay, and dated technical execution make it a missed opportunity to expand the franchise's audience. While enjoyable for series lovers, it struggles to shine as an RPG.

FAIRY TAIL 2 is a minor disappointment. After the intriguing but acerbic 2020 debut, Gust picks up the celebrated IP to tell a new chapter in the adventures of Natsu Dragneel envisioned by Hiro Mashima. However, the final product fails to elevate the potential of its predecessor, ending up as a far too apathetic RPG despite the rethinking of the combat system. It is a product that ends up appealing exclusively to fans of the original work, who will be able to appreciate its qualities and nuances even after the shortcomings and a less-than-excellent technical compartment.

Fairy Tail 2 once again provides a beautiful stage for the mage guild known from the manga and anime original. Although the starting point is rather devastating with a war that has begun, the basic mood of the game remains cheerful and upbeat as usual. This is ensured by the familiar groovy soundtrack, the colorful game world and the shrill and wonderfully exaggerated events. The presentation of the characters with their typical idiosyncrasies and friendly banter with each other also provide great entertainment. A lot of effort has also been put into the reworking. The level of detail in the textures and the animation of the movements show the leap to the new console generation. The terrain, which was rather tubular in its predecessor, is now more expansive and can be explored almost freely. It is also nice that we can change the selected character at any time during exploration and combat. The combat system itself is the one with the most new features, which now consists of a mixture of turn-based and real-time battles in which beautiful, magical storms of effects can occur. Although the combat system of the predecessor is also successful and, in my opinion, the spells of the individual characters are a little less effective due to the turn-based process, as they are cast one after the other, the new design is an absolutely successful and fun upgrade that is one of the flagship features. Nevertheless, the game does have a few weaknesses. For example, members from other guilds that you could actively control in the prequel are now only available as support characters. There are also occasional reloading backgrounds, clipping errors and slight image flickering. While this makes sense due to the story, the game world sometimes feels a little empty and lifeless as there are only a few side characters to be found. This also makes it more noticeable that clones have crept into both the NPCs and the vegetable stall. Furthermore, the side quests are rather pale and have a smaller scope than in the predecessor. Personally, I found the first part a little stronger and more rounded. Nevertheless, I also like Fairy Tail 2 very much.

FAIRY TAIL 2 successfully builds on the foundation of its predecessor, delivering an experience that feels both familiar and fresh. The blend of beloved storylines and new content, coupled with dynamic gameplay and expansive customization, makes it a must-play for fans of the series and RPG enthusiasts alike. Whether you’re reliving the emotional highs of the Alvarez Empire Arc or uncovering new secrets in The Key to the Unknown, this game promises a magical journey that captures the heart and soul of Fairy Tail.
Fairy Tail 2 is a dated and uncompetitive game in this market for the average gamer, but the gameplay manages to mix turn-based RPG elements and real-time combat sufficiently well, making long confrontations enjoyable. It will succeed in pleasing at least loyal fans, who will be able to relive the events of the Alvarez Empire arc.

During the game, I had a really good moments, as the battles with bosses can be very satisfying. The interesting combat system and well-designed characters and bosses are unfortunately not enough. A good RPG should also have an interesting world, engaging side quests, and diverse locations. Unfortunately, Fairy Tail 2 lacks all of this, appearing as if it was made in a haste. It's a pity because the game had a lot of potential that was not properly utilized by its creators.

Fairy Tail 2 is an adaptation that, despite having some flaws, manages to capture the spirit and magic of Hiro Mashima's work. Its dynamic combat system and good cutscenes guarantee a very fun experience, especially for fans of this universe.

FAIRY TAIL 2 has all the makings of a fast and low-stakes role-playing game, but it doesn't have the depth of other titles in its genre. Players' pleasure in the game will differ based on their level of interest in the FAIRY TAIL manga and anime. The game's visual appeal and fast-paced fighting are the only redeeming qualities of an otherwise lackluster experience.
Adapting the final arc of the series, Fairy Tail 2 brings several interesting qualities, including improvements over its predecessor. The battles are more dynamic, while the maps are larger and more interconnected. The story is very good, but it still depends on the player's prior knowledge. As for the production, there are some dated elements, even if the overall perception is pleasant. For fans of the franchise, it was certainly the title that was missing to complete the adventure of the most famous wizard guild in anime and manga. For others, this is a light and fun RPG, with an adequate level of strategy and a good amount of content.

Fairy Tail 2 revamps its combat into a more action focused one that flows nicely and looks great while the story might be trimmed at places but still will please fans of the with its extra content.
If you’re a fan of the series, Fairy Tail 2 is a great time, although technical issues on Switch hinder the experience.
