Let’s just hope that Nintendo can broaden what’s available in-game quickly, akin to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. While we’re waiting for more Switch 2 games, we need more World.
Judged on its own mechanics, systems, and merits, it's a brilliant racing game, a GotY contender, and one of the finest entries in the entire Mario Kart canon, not to mention another in a long line of exceptional launch titles from Nintendo.
Mario Kart World is a must-have title for the Nintendo Switch 2 that showcases this new console well and, more importantly, delivers an addictive and engaging Mario Kart experience. It's jam-packed with gameplay modes and boasts flawless game mechanics that not only play well but also look spectacular on the Switch 2.
Mario Kart World attempts thrilling, high-risk maneuvers like a stunt pilot seeking new shortcuts, and these don't always land perfectly. While the visuals are stunning, the new game world could have used more polish. Curiously, the classic Grand Prix mode feels hobbled, and track designs are more homogeneous. Survival mode takes the top spot, prioritizing pure fun over competitive fervor. This shift signals Mario Kart World's new direction, and it's up to players to decide if they're ready to embrace this uniquely rare game.

Mario Kart World takes Nintendo's racing series to the open road with uneven results as charming character animations and a killer new mode in Knockout Tour collide with a sparse open world and new pacing tensions thanks to tracks melding into one another. Mario Kart World is another great Mario Kart. It isn’t eighty dollars good, but if you can get it for around sixty, you’ll be very happy with the value it offers. There are plenty of features and stuff to do to keep players enjoying this endlessly, like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but it is not the generational leap forward like some of the past entries.
A major development in the series with new distinct game modes, an increased number of racers, extensive content, diverse gameplay options, and great fun offered by the game.

Mario Kart 8 Deluxe has been hailed by many players as the "ultimate Mario Kart," but Nintendo just needed a little more power and time to show that the fun was just beginning. Mario Kart World is a deep and expansive game that will delight drivers... regardless of age. It may not have the same "wow" factor, and it could use another mode, but ultimately? You won't want to leave your console.

Mario Kart World is hard to not recommend for those who pick up a Nintendo Switch 2 but at launch it doesn’t surpass Mario Kart 8 Deluxe on the podium.
Mario Kart World is an amazing-looking and sounding title on the Switch 2. I love all the new tracks and characters, though the way you unlock them feels unfair.
A different and fresh Mario Kart game was exactly what the series needed, and with World, Nintendo has delivered. They didn’t really need to make the AI this ruthless though...

Mario Kart World is a bold evolution of the series. New ideas and mechanics shine, but unpolished systems, vague unlocks, and limited multiplayer tools keep it from hitting full speed.
Mario Kart World is magnificent. It features the tight and refined gameplay you expect from the series, a brilliant new Knockout mode, and such colourful energy and vibrancy that it was the perfect title to launch the console. I really didn’t think there was much else Nintendo could do after Mario Kart 8, but I stand corrected.
After the exhilarating 8 Deluxe this is the natural evolution of the series, one that adds and enhances enough aspects to keep a near-perfect series fresh.

Overall it’s solid, fun, innovative, just not what I would want as the definitive Mario Kart experience, nor do I feel it tops what has long been considered the definitive Mario Kart experience for some time. But this is certainly a fresh take on the franchise that’s keeping things new and fun, and I’m having a blast with it.
This game is best experienced as a playground, not an obstacle course, even if the mayhem that unfurls on the racetrack is rife with obstacles. I'm looking forward to regularly playing Mario Kart World as a staple of the Switch 2 library. It's playful and fun in all the best ways.
In most regards, Mario Kart World is the best entry in the series yet. There are a wealth of characters to race as and lots of vehicles, with many more to unlock, and the courses are absolutely brilliant. On top of that, a Mario Kart game has never felt so good to play. It's just a shame that its open world feels like an afterthought for the most part, and that it's so expensive.
Mario Kart World is all about big numbers'tons of content, characters, vehicles, power-ups, tracks, and music. It all adds up to countless hours of fun, making this a game you'll be coming back to for years.
